TCB: happy jeans contest

This is me and the (much younger) nipper getting an esresso, and babycino, from three world champs: Michael Phillips, world champion barista, 2010 and in the middle, Stephen Morrissey Ireland's best barista, world champion 2008, and Gwilym Davies, 2012 .world champion.

I think Gwuilym might have recommended the ROK, previously known as the Presso. I've tried it, it's better than a conventional stovetop. Would make a good backup, especially for when me and nipper go camping in the volvo.

Yup, he didn't stay for long, his assistant James carried on at Present for a year or so.

Gwilym is now at Leather Lane, sadly a bit off my regular beat. When he was on Ezra st, off Coumbia road, I'd get my espresso form him every Sunday, probably for about eight years. Great that he doesn't have to stand out in the cold any more.

Ed, the Nomad is out of stock until they make another batch of them.

A friend here as got one of the kicktarter's batch and speaks very highly of it. He's the biggest collector of coffee maker of any type and era in Italy, so I rate his opinion quite highly!

@ Hoggy for the moka's, I don't use them anymore, when I can't have an espresso I use a napoletana, this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neapolitan_flip_coffee_pot . but generally I prefer alluminium over stainless steel.

Buenos Aires is ok... this week, while I can't make my own, I've tried a variety, so far I'm liking the place in the old Spreadeagle, called Al Pancino. Very good napoli blend, that typical Italian smooth style, a bit like Bar Italia. Which I've doubtless posted photos of on here, too...

The Bialeti is my current backup - I wouldn't mind a steel version, I always think you can taste the aluminium in the regulr one.

maybe you're right with alluminium thing, that's the general consensus about it. However with Napoletana's flipovers I still go back to my old alluminium ones as they make a better coffee, even if I have 2 different stainless steel ones, which costed much more than alluminium.

Hogg - this is a decent coffee shop if you're around Aldgate/Brick Lane:

It's right next to Aldgate East tube stn and the Whitechapel Art Gallery and 2 mins from my office.

anyway, I fucking love this thread!

speaking of coffee that's one my all time favourite blends, Passalacqua Harem

93771602-930E-4356-93AD-C86828612AB4_zps

it's super sweet. unfortunately it's not sold by shops outside the region of Naples so I can only buy it online (but it's expensive because of shipping) or when I go to Naples. it's sold however on specialist shops outside of Italy as well.

Passalacqua it's a great local brand from Naples. if you ever go to Naples make sure you try their espresso in one of their bars, they are all called Bar Mexico.

my go to blend it's called Hue Hue, Guatemala coffee which is sold in Italy by Eataly. it  makes for a monster crema on my machine.

The crossing takes more than 4 hours - plenty of time to take random pictures of the TCB denim...

I can send you a can! Said the Cat in the Hat,

I can send it like this, I can send it like that,

I can send it by sea, I can send it by air,

But as long as you get it I don't think you'll care,

I can send it by air, I can send it by sea

And you'll soon be making delicious coffee!

Damn, this is a sweet discussion.

H, after Volvo talked me into buying a Napoletana I can only say sweet things about it!

The day I will talk you into buying a fine rear wheel drive Volvo I will consider my mission accomplished!
