How many pairs of jeans do you own?

Recommended Posts

Yep there is this ^ - and to add I’ve come to understand my favorite pairs never start out that way and it all depends on the journey they’ve had which is never something that can be purchased. So, with that, I understand intellectually it’s never a solution to be solved by getting another of the same pair. It will probably turn out differently anyways.

Hasnt stopped me from getting off the train yet but it’s something I sort of want to do, but I still see stuff I want to try!

I'd say run with it.. i've enjoyed the entire journey, i've enjoyed gaining knowledge even though i've forgotten most of what i knew, i'v enjoyed wearing and obsessing over most of the jeans i've owned.. i wouldn't change any of it, just be aware that ther is never an end to this, there is no grail, we're just trying to fill an empty space inside. :D

This. We constantly learn something and then forget it. It’s fine—the objects of knowing flow in smoothly and leave just as smoothly, leaving no trace. We stay.

I don't think I've ever actually purchased the same exact model twice, variety is the spice of life after all.
But after years and years of buying too many jeans I feel like I've found the sweet spot. New releases don't tempt me as much, unless it's a new pair of FW.
Every now and then I'll get distracted with something else but I almost always end up back in a pair of 601xx's.

Hmm, could be a fun challenge to list. I've given away twice as many jeans as I own currently - 16.

I feel the same way, don't think I have ever purchased the same cut nor the same denim. Like trying different cuts/denim and have others I am ready to try at any given time.

Actually, I did buy the recent Imperial pairs so I guess the 'same denim' isn't entirely true.

Been a while since I posted an update in this thread. Here's where we're at:

Active

  • Flat Head 3005, 32 - Q4 2021-Present. 11~12 months. Main pair at the moment. These will probably need repairs in a few months.
  • Flat Head 3005XXX, 32 - Q3 2018-Present. About 2 years of wear. Repaired by Indigo Proof in 2021. These might have another month or two of wear before needing knee, rear end, hem repairs.
  • Warehouse 800xx, 31 - Q4 2020 - Present. ~10 months. Repaired by Indigo Proof at 9 months of wear. I wear these sometimes, will probably be my main pair again in the future.
  • Flat Head 7002W Shirt, 40 - Q2 2015 - Present. 1.5~2 years of wear. Elbows repaired by Indigo Proof in 2017.
  • Flat Head 6002W denim jacket, 44 - Q3 2023 - Present. This jacket showed very light signs of wear when I bought it from Japan, I've since added 4~6 months of wear.

Inactive

  • Warehouse 1001xx, 31 - Q3 2021 - Present. ~12 months. My "summer jeans," perfect for the warm months. These have various points of damage and need repairs. Will get worn a lot more in the future, after repair.

Retired

  • Samurai S710xx, 31 - Q3 2012-2021. 12+ months. I occasionally still wear these, but they're functionally retired.
  • Flat Head 3009, 32  Q4 2012 - Q3 2013. Unknown wears, probably at least 1.5 years. Retired, used for repair scraps.
  • Flat Head 1001, 32  Q3 2013 - Q4 2014. 9~10 months. On display at Rivet & Hide.
  • 3Sixteen ST-120x, 31 - 2015 - 2018. 540 wears. On display at Guilty Party.
  • 3Sixteen RH15, 30 - 2017 - Q2 2018. 366 wears. Various points of damage, and too tight.
  • Full Count 1108, 31 - Q1 2019 - Q3 2021. 13 months. On display at Guilty Party.

Stashed Away

  • Flat Head 3003xx, 32 - Dead stock, pre-Levis lawsuit model with painted arcs, red tab.
  • Flat Head 1005, 32 - 16 oz Exceed denim, production from before 2013.
  • Flat Head 3005-AI, 32 - Dead stock, natural indigo mix denim.

Analysis

I'm mostly wearing older pairs and attempting to put further wear and fading into them, and doubt I'm going to start on a new pair in the next year or so. In 2025, both pairs of TFH 3005s will hit the point where they need critical repairs, and I'll probably get at least one of them fixed and keep wearing. I'm planning to get the Warehouse 1001xx fixed and continue to put wear into them.

My 6002W Type II is my main denim top, but I still wear the 7002W shirt one or two times a week. In spring 2025, it'll be the tenth anniversary of my purchase of this shirt, and I'll do a big photo dump/feature on it around then.

Outside of my collection of their trousers, I pretty much have all Phigvel’s 301/302 denim except the straight leg black pair.  Don’t need that one anymore. Might look into older denim by the brand.

@AlientoyWorkmachineI’m a big fan of military garments as I get older. The brand seems to emulate that with their offerings and their clothes fit good on my stature.  I tried with Buzz but their clothes just didn’t fit right on my build.

I originally came across the brand through Coverchord and bought a collab they did on a pair of denim that was similar to a pair of SC1947 I had, pink selvedge too.  Sold that pair a while back which I wish I hadn’t.
