Epic's water repellency isn't supposed to wash out. I feel deceived.

i dont think it washes out, it just wears off through abrasion.

Right, it's the same reason the fabric fades and then gets holes (same for denim too).

Trisa: awesome but the site is pretty hard to understand. Can't seem to find a way of buying the jacket nor find out its size. Any thoughts anyone? Anyone local to Hong Kong?

You asking about the shirt? Could well be the DS-LA3, don't think it's the WS version or it could even be a SISP formal shirt.

Thanks guys for all the advice..

Sorry for being slow to respond..

Been clearing work & will be heading to calgary soon..

Managed to find a w+h x canada goose parka - hopefully the deal goes through..

With a few layers I think I should be able to survive the cold right?

Will bring my SS-j25, GT-j27 & S6-C + NG1 as well..

Now for pants... Will the P15-CH do with 2-3 thermal pants?

Also... Thinking of just thick socks and my moc-toe red wings...

Will be my first winter seeing snow... Beautiful yet tragically cold (-20/30)

Somehow I feel I need more protection...

Are you staying for the whole winter or a few weeks in December?

P.s. are those temps in Celsius or Fahrenheit?

My Branta Nelson Cargo does the trick most of the time in Montreal. Where I feel the cold the most is in my toes and thighs. Make sure you have your head, face, neck and hands covered with a solid pair of winter boots and you should be good to go with your new parka.

Also... Thinking of just thick socks and my moc-toe red wings

If they're the Christy soled ones then no, not good enough. Lug sole, you're safe. Might soak through, though.

Christy soled ones are the vibram ones?

These are the boots I was thinking of wearing (red leather):

I also have the north face back to berkeley 68:

Will the north face one do?

What's your ultimate tec boots guys?

On a side note, I'm still on a lookout for an mk3 xpac and a cpf2 size s...

Thinking of bringing my brand new 6ts along for the trip too...

Am still thinking if the P15-CH will hold up for -20/30 degrees...

Anyone knows how the fabric is like? Too thin for the cold?

In Calgary and I can usually get by in -20 in jeans with my Wolverines and wool socks on. But I'm used to it :P  I'd recommend thermals under your pants if you're uncomfortable with the cold.

Also if you're looking around for a W+H x CG jacket there's a store here that still has an XL in stock!

Strap is too wide. Not a bad looking bag, but not an ACR one either.

I noticed those differences, as well. It was more the pouch attached to the strap--the bag itself, essentially--that made me wonder. I only caught a glimpse of it once, very briefly.

Think I ruined a pair of P9-CHs over the holiday; made a slow roast pork belly for thanksgiving and stupidly didn't wear an apron. Cue a grease splash that might have defeated my dry cleaners (I hit it with dish soap straight away but not well enough).

:(
