@Broark - My experience is that mid-weight sweats are a lot more susceptible to shrink than heavy weight. I'll be curious to see if you experience the same. To be honest, I didn't do a true test but I typically use the same settings.

I’ll try to measure the new one before and after a wash, the only experience I have with the midweight sweat fabric is the black one from last year with the pocket. I didn’t find that it shrunk more than any of my heavyweights.

Edit: ignore found my answer.

First time owning FW. I had to order a 38" '47 one wash cause I'm a wide boy. Though there is way more hip hang than I'd like - like FC 0105 hip hang. How much can I expect these to tighten up in the top block with another wash/regular washing? The One wash already looks pretty damn thorough. Don't wanna invest time/waste money on them if they're never destined to get more fitted.

Thank you! Might just risk it and use the dryer. This denim is great.....

In my experience with my 43s and 51s, the denim really only shrinks vertically after several washes, and its pretty modest, maybe a half inch? General washing and drying shrinkage stretches back out after a wear or two. I've torched pairs in the dryer, and they stretch back out very quickly.

Yeah I put them up on eBay cause they’re some of the least flattering jeans I’ve ever owned ha.

Kick myself all the time for not grabbing that jacket.

Look on the positive side here. You’d have shredded it to pieces ages ago anyway so it’d just be a distant memory by now!

It was my first FW piece and while I don’t have that many overall, I’m not sure anything has topped it. I’d probably buy a backup if they ever ran it back.

Apologies in advance as I know I've seen this discussed before but I can't seem to find it through search—

I've got a pair of 32 601xx 1947's which fit me perfectly. Good in the waist, comfortable room in the top block and thigh. Should I go with the same size 601rb? I thought I saw somewhere that they fit more like the 51's? Is that going to make the top block and thigh a good bit tighter at the same size?

8:54 the guy says he has customers buying 51s a size bigger because they have a lower rise. 1947 are comfortably loose in 36 on me. 601rb are a good fit in 36. I would pick 37 inch if they had it but they don’t. Got my 51s in 38 instead. Definitely too big in the waist but very comfortable. 601rb or 51 will fit you in your usual size but it’s just a tighter cut with a lower rise.

^ it's deffo a great jacket.  While a rerun with a new lining and maybe a different size would be alluring, I can see mine outliving me ATWM

It’s true, same here! I’m curious if i could make a size down work is the main thing I think….

most likely a curiosity that will never be indulged. Even if so the one I’ve got would be more versatile.

This is exactly how I sized the 51’s.
47’s (&56’s): Size 33. 51’s: Size 34.

I am a 33 in the 22, 37, 43, 47, WWII.
I took a 34 in my 601rb for better leg room but the waist gets sloppy quick. So I wash them weekly. I had the 601rb in 33 before and they were just too tight in the legs. So yea I’d agree with going up a size for 601rb/1951 cuts.

I ended up getting the 51 in the same size as my 47 and they both fit great. I was surprised at how the 51 top block (mostly the hips area) actually feels looser than on my 47's? Rise is definitely smaller, but still comfortable. My 47's feel like higher rise than I *need*, and the 51's are spot on. Waist fits the same between the two for me.

Looks great! Can I ask where you got them? I looked at McFly was checking pretty regularly, failed to do so for a week or so, and the blue one which I really wanted was all sold out :(

I picked up both the 1961 "rude black" 601xx and the indigo 1951 601xx. As you've seen, I have the former up in the sale thread, since I found the waist to be more constrictive.

Curious about the waist stretch you've noted, however, since that's the only aspect I didn't like about the RBs. Is yours just because you're starting a size up, or have you noted the waistband to have a lot of give?

Between the two, I found that

- The 1961 RB has less give in the fabric
- Waist sizes are similar, if not the same
- 1961 has a fuller seat, with some hip flare. If it weren't for the waist, it's actually quite comfortable in the top block, although definitely diaper butt.
- Rises are about the same, but noting the difference in seat
- About similar in leg and hem, with the 1961 RB maybe being a bit fuller
