The '51 cut suits you well b_F, I swear one of these days I'll get around to trying out the core '47 and '51.
But it just gets more and more difficult when they keep releasing seasonal pairs. (collection previews from Komori-san's IG)

Think I’ll get my transition detailed pair from Simone/ WOM after I’m jealous of all the pairs about to show up in that thread. Really like these details.

My 47’s have become fast favorites now the 56’s have been semi retired. Never wore the 51’s but do like the cut.

Great fit.  The 1951s I got recently are probably my favorite pair at the moment.  If they ever did a 1951 cut in the S601XX fabric that would be the perfect pair for me.

That’s funny, I feel pretty much the opposite.

The S601XX are close to perfect jeans, for me. They fit dead on just like the R01, and like the R01 they’re made to extremely high standards with top notch materials. That’s great, because if I could just keep wearing R01s forever I probably would. The only issue is that the S601XX denim is too artificially slubby & too fast fading & doesn’t seem to rope and pucker as well as the standard 601XX denim, so I’m stuck having to go back and forth between these and my ‘51s.

Picked up a pair of one wash 1947’s and the fit is pretty spot on. Any wisdom on how much shrink to expect from washing on the one wash version, or on how stretchy the denim is?

One wash doesn’t shrink - tightens after washing then loosens. The denim stretches pretty much like most denim … it all depends on how much force is applied to it

Post cold wash fit. Legs are nice and roomy, top is ever so slightly snug, but is already stretching out. Might do one more hot wash just to get whatever shrink is left out (lost an inch in the inseam with the first cold wash) but feeling like the sizing worked out pretty well!

An inch on the inseam?

Had them hemmed by SoaS to 30” and after the first cold wash + hang dry they measure 29” in the inseam. Gave them the hot wash and a bit of time in the dryer and they’re still right around 29” inseam.

New pair of FW 601xx 1951 "one wash" in size 34, hue of indigo is amzaing , clean and impressive construction.

below picture taken on 3rd day of the wear:

hemmed by Okayama Denim using their Union Special 43200G , chain stitch with matching color thread, original pair was having 80 cm inseam length, I needed 77cm for 5cm cuff

Rivets are pointed / sharp , hopefully will not scratch the skin when putting hands into pockets or when touched without caution.

Below waist measurement pictures taken before first wear:

Waist measured 86cm , using "The Relax Method":

88cm waist width using flat method:IMG_7122.thumb.jpg.51090d427e8dfb43c9dd1966d9f0a02b.jpg

Speedway provided waist measurement using "Flat Method" and was flexibile in communication whereas "Hoosier" was rigid, so I bought from Speedway

Waist measured again after 3rd day of the wear, it shows 3cm stretched, now measuring 91cm. It seems it will easily stretch more 1 or 2 cm like any other Japanese denim in coming 20 to 30 wears, one wash pairs usually stretch 5cm (tends to reach raw position) by passage of time.

@shredwin_206 thanks for the comments, I usually use this sizing estimation for Japanese Raw Denim One Wash pairs but for Freewheehelers just wanted to make sure before purchase, and now find the same applies to FW as well.

I will try hammering the sharp rivets with care.

Damn! How long did that take?

How did the patch shrink? I put mine in the dryer but the patches never really shrink much.

My least favorite thing that happens to all of my jeans

I'm probably never going to repair knees again as they never turn out well

Agreed @scooby, I find knee repairs never drape well and look too obvious (although some people may like that). Imho you end up looking like an energetic child whose mum has patched up his jeans!

Also went there.
Really cool show! I’d say there’s as much denim as there is motorcycles.
Went there with my son. He wanted to sit in Yasui-san’s car but then got cold feet and cried when they offered him to go inside.
