  5. Also feeling behind as I only wear them about 2-3 hours a day, but I there's enough time to catch up! Like our friend volvo, I'm happy with how things have set and will be washing more frequently now as honestly I'm looking for more even fades, similar to vintage pairs here and here. Some updates though, post wash last night:

  9. Been busy this weekend working on the bathroom. Never hung drywall before, but turns out it ain't too bad in these small sections to do as a one man operation. Had to put in some studs for the drywall to hold onto, and had to get creative with this one by the drain pipe by segmenting it. Another hurdle was getting the ceiling to sit flush with the original plaster. The walls and ceilings in this place are about (key word is "about") 1" thick with the rock lath and plaster, so I had to use something to shim out the 1/2" drywall. Tried to cut strips of some 1/2" plywood I found in the garage, but it was too thick, so I ended up using pieces of lath which did the trick and cost next to nothing. And here's the rest of the walls all done. Once the drywall is mudded and floor is in it'll be time to trim in some places and then paint (or wallpaper, haven't decided yet). Decided that instead of trying to match the blue tile we'll just paint the new walls and I'll cut some trim for the transition from tile to no tile. Going to put some shelves and a vanity in this spot eventually.

  13. And a little update after more than a year. The total number is roughly the same. Moved the new Denime jeans (221 and 224), two pairs of Denime Original Line which were too small (66 and 66XX), the FC 0105, one pair of Resolute 711 and swapped the FW 47 against the 51 model. Mainly added Sugar Cane jeans and Ooe. 15. not much stuff to show on the life side of things. I've been to Brittany France to pick up a new flute. The guy who made it is an absolute character. He's close to retirement, and works as little as possible (and I don't blame him for that!). Never had a website, never had to promote himself much too. Makes beautiful, quirky, instruments, with a very nice design too. Great guy too. He lives in a very beautiful and remote area of north Brittanny. here's the man, I just edited his face as I think he wouldn't be very happy to be featured on a raw denim forum! pic of the machine itself (sorry WOM not featured!) this is perhaps my favourite detail. It's a knot in the wood, so it may be seen as a defect actually, but it looks like an eye, and it's on the outer side of the instrument. Reminds me of the eye of Sauron Released a new album too, just a couple weeks ago. It's here if anyone wants to give it a spin.

  16. hello there! Apologies for being a bit MIA @UkeNo! congrats! You will always remember these jeans as the jeans you were wearing when your kid was born! Ha! first proper update. Finally after much struggling I've managed to loose some weight and I was brave enough to give the jeans a proper 40° C right side out wash. Pretty happy with the results, I think I have enough contrast now to start washing very frequently. I absolutely adore these jeans! Probs my favourite jean cut. I forgot how hard is to properly capture color with a camera. It's been awhile! @beautiful_FrEaK fab marbling action going!

  18. I have saved the best for last. Probably my favorite t shirt of all time. I only visited the local Santa Fe Speedway in Willow Springs only once or twice to watch the demolition derby before it closed down but those memories live large in my mind. Perfect graphics, faded but legible, on a super thin single stich 50/50 Made in USA Screen Stars tee. Every new find is judged against this one. Earlier this year I found a local making reprints on plain white so I grabbed one.

  20. Posting these following a short discussion in the general questions thread. I was looking for some pleated chinos that were available in these three colours. They’re Spellbound French Trousers. Super nice fabric, softens up really good after a wash. Very high waisted and pretty wide leg but they’re exactly what I was looking for. Tried to do different outfits to show how versatile they are:

  27. My newest and a real banger imo. 1983 VOLUSIA SPEEDWAY "Dirt Racing" T Shirt Two sided, great lettering in multiple fonts, killer yet primitive graphics, splash of color on a perfectly faded paper thin. MIUSA single stitch CHED brand 50/50 tee.

  30. Another two sided beauty in my favorite non black color. Vintage 1970s "A bad Day at Lake Whippoorwill Speedway" T shirt. More lightly cracked ink, multiple fonts, simple graphics, and a clever tagline make this another perfect example of the race day tee. Tag is faded but it looks like maybe another Velva Sheen, probably size small and definitely 50/50 poly/cotton.

Cool color, multiple fonts, and simple clean yet killer graphics with a date? Made in USA and single stitch? 10 out 10. White Lake Speedway opened in 1960 and has changed names several times. It's now known as Bethel Motor Speedway and is located near the site of the original WOODSTOCK festival.

  38. Thank you for this @merzbot! I want to do a superfuture-level rundown on the Working SKEWed jeans in the next week or so, but actually I just came on to show some details of the 900 Bull Denim, so good timing. This fabric is woven with a 100% cotton warp and a 50/50 wool/hemp weft. Generally speaking, dyes react differently with cellulose fibres (eg cotton, linen) and protein fibres (eg wool, silk), and even more generally speaking dyes stick better to protein than to cellulose. This can be quite subtle, for example with woad, where the blue is relatively deep across all the fibres in the fabric (with the original undyed fabric below): the khaki, particularly, took to the wool much more readily than to the cotton or hemp, creating a sort of turquoise wool fuzz over the top of a paler green cotton/hemp ground: lastly, though, here's a version which is a little more subtle, but which I'm really excited by. This is dyed hadal blue with a formula that reacts only with wool, so that the cotton and hemp remain completely undyed. It gives the effect of a fabric woven with an undyed warp and a melange fibre dyed warp, where dyed wool is spun with undyed hemp, but all with a single garment dye. The jacket reads as denim, but with the softness and lightness of the bull denim cloth.

  39. Vintage Stedman brand 1989 Betty Page t shirt 50/50 poly/cotton t shirt XL The art is by Steve Woron but seems to be vaguely inspired by Dave Stevens' Rocketeer comics. Another massively oversized t shirt. This started out life in my best friends collection but somehow I ended up finding it in a box wrapped around a die cast model of a Delorean. Didn't wear it much due to size.
