All this pizza talk had me hungry for lunch. Just went with a classic pepperoni and basil.8 points
-
I like any and all pizza. NY, Detroit, Neapolitan, Chicago deep dish (which is why I thought they called them pies tbh) et al. Margherita, marinara, pepperoni, cheese, supreme, hawaiian, BBQ chicken, potato, white sauce...I cannot say I have ever had a bad pizza, no matter what was on it. I have recently been to a few Japanese pizza places that ranked in the top 20 of the world, and they were incredible. "Weirder" topping-style pizza compared to what chains sell, of course. Love making za too! PS Simone is poking fun at Italians regarding their pizza stereotype 😂8 points

So where are we, roughly maybe two months out? What's everyone's go-to pizza toppings? I'm a classic guy, generally prefer margarita or supreme. Keep your weird stuff (pineapple, buffalo or barbecue chicken, etc.) off my pizza.6 points
-
I fully embrace a good amount of weird stuff. But I'm with you on the buffalo chicken. Whatever that flavor is, it's never worked for me in any context actually. I love a good roasted brussel sprout pie. Or meyer lemon. A local joint has a one with with green olives, roasted yellow tomatoes, goat cheese + zaatar that is a go to for me. Rarely with the sausage or pepperoni, though I enjoy it. The one thing I'm not so into is mushrooms, (my wife swears she can bring me around through exposure therapy...she's moved the needle about 15%). With the shrooms, I'll at least take one for the team if the team prefers it.5 points

I like a basic margherita but tuna, red onion, capers, anchovies and jalapeños are all good, not necessarily all together but generally in some permutation. Olives I can take or leave. Chicken should never be in the same room as a pizza. Interestingly, I’ve often wondered why some Americans call a pizza a ‘pie’ as it really isn’t one and I don’t think it’s referred to as that anywhere else. I googled it and came across this article.4 points

I quite like a combo of gorgonzola, mozz, parmesan, figues, honey, walnuts and parma ham.3 points

Interesting article - thanks for sharing! I do quite often call pizza "pie" but it feels like slang to me. In no way have I ever believed it to be an actual sort of pie, which it seems a few people did! What do we do here in America if not make new terms that are nonsensical! Although I've got to say the Kiwis and Aussies do a bang up job of that too.3 points
-
Every now and then I don't mind the weirder pies, there's a local place that does a banh mi pizza that's really good. I agree with you on the mushrooms, not a big fan of those either. Too mushy.3 points

Those non A models like J91 and V91 are way better than newer.☕ But applause for the P46A-DS with the better price in ds pants.3 points

This is one of my absolute favorites to make. I caramelize the walnuts but in hot honey. Game changer!2 points

Funny thing for me is that I’m not the biggest fan of pizza lol I never go out of my way for it or crave it; I’d rather have a pasta dish. But if I ever find myself in a situation where I have to have it, I find that I do enjoy a good margherita. A supreme can be good, and I do enjoy a hot honey drizzle at times!2 points

You're all making me hungry I don't often eat pizza but like it when I do... preferences include goats cheese, blue cheese, anchovies, olives, seafood generally, capers, chilli peppers... my Lebanese friends said they grew up being told zataar boosts your intelligence so we've eaten that a bit together... nice nopal on the figs, walnuts and honey... that's enough I need to eat pizza... did somebody say just eat?2 points

Indigofera has a couple cuts that I think are new this year and seem notable for people looking for unusual fits. The first is a high rise straight leg that looks like it reaches further up the torso than even TCB 40s. https://secondsunrise.se/collections/all/products/indigofera-kain-jeans-black-gunpowder-denim-copy And another with a high rise and boot cut https://secondsunrise.se/collections/all/products/indigofera-wyatt-jeans-low-desert-denim I'm curious to try these on if they show up somewhere I can visit.2 points

Bought the P46A interested to see how the differences in sizing make them fit compared to the OG pair. Would of been way cooler with a grey pair though.1 point

Shame there's no translation with it but l certainly get the gist. I always thought there was some major battles going on between Lee and Levis during the 1930s and 40s and l always thought that the levis Type 2 was a quickly cobbled together response to Lee's more stylish looking 101-J Riders jacket. Mind you, the 101-J Cowboy jacket of the late 1920s up until the end of WW2 was almost a direct copy of the Type 1 as it wasn't a patented design, whereas the New Lee Riders jacket was! Plus the denim used to make Lee products was sanforized whereas Levis was STF, so the Riders 101-J could be more body hugging and looked more stylish than the outdated pleated styles that had gone before. Here are some snaps of another early 101-J Riders (c.1945) with the older stock Cowboy buttons. Luckily this one is a rare unwashed example which still has the Patent pending label present. First time l've seen one (thanks to Arakawavintage) All this, then in 1959 Lee brought out its Westerner range with colourfull vat-dyed jackets and matching trousers whereas Levis had to wait for the Type 3's release in 1961 before it could do the same. As a side note, l recently discovered that the Type 3's designer was Jack Lucier, son of red tab inventor Chris Lucier.1 point

@vlad_III continuing on from the conversation in the denim blunders thread about Freewheelers jeans with arcs, here are my pre-2009 (l think?) 1947ish Bootleggers 601xx. They were part of a worldwide tour that Duke kindly organised back in 2016. They were gifted to me after tour ended and l have worn them infrequently ever since, only gently washing once. One of my favourite all time repros for sure. I've tried to snap a few pics to give the feel of them, detail-wise. They are constructed with many different gauges of thread, and at least two colours of thread overall: yellow and orange, with the arcs and beltloops being dual colours or 'rainbow stitch' as it's sometimes called. The leather patch is fragile and probably won't last too much longer but still readable. The tab is still intact but very curled, with BOOTLEG clearly in white. The coin pocket rivets were removed by me back in 2016 and the remaining pocket rivets were hammered by someone else, although whom l cannot remember now. Edit - Sufu Ai doing its best to scew up my photo orientation as usual ffs1 point

The high cost is hilariously at odds with this model originally being lower cost, more 'affordable' jeans1 point

I got a new pair of size 2 132s a few months back, and after much careful deliberation decided they’re going to be the only pair of jeans im bringing with me to south america. Funnily enough, I brought my first 132s (also size 2) along to Ecuador almost 10 years ago, and though the fabric was great for the work I was doing, I always felt like I was swimming in them. I’m still within 5 pounds of what I weighed then, but somehow this new pair feels much better, almost an ideal cut for the style I like to wear now. But I ended up doing a few modifications for the trip: First, I added suspender buttons.. I made some leather suspenders earlier in the year and wore them exclusively with these pants, mainly cause the waist was still too big. Debating on keeping the buttons on because the waist issue was solved more recently. A couple months back, I darted the waist, about 2cm on each side. Not professional at all, lol, but it did make a huge difference in the fit and allows me to wear them without suspenders or a belt. Then I made some belt loops to replace the ones I removed in order to fit the suspender buttons. Then today, I decided I’d give them a hem, and use the leftover material to add a proper back pocket for my wallet. The drivers’ pockets are great and very comfortable to use, but their size and location further down my thigh, as opposed to against my butt, makes them much looser and less secure, so I’d rather not keep anything valuable in them. This new pocket is just a cut from the hem scrap hand stitched and “riveted” with some Chicago screws (wish I had copper ones to match!). Here’s the final product all together: I’m excited to wear these in on this trip; they’ll be tucked into motorcycle boots a lot so will hopefully get some interesting fades. Thanks for looking!1 point
