Had no idea there was so much disdain for ONI! Just read some of the comments on the other page. I had a few pairs 6 or 7 years ago. Prior to that I’d been wearing mainly repro stuff so at the time, the heavyweight and loose weave fabrics appealed as a slightly different option. Back to wearing repro now but still got a few pairs of ONI in the closet. I agree the fits aren’t amazing, but I do think some of their denims are pretty nice regardless of how old the guy weaving it really is. Heres a few pics of mine over the years. As a biker, the 22oz natural indigo was a good winter jean and the Secret Denim is by far the softest heavyweight denim I’ve had.6 points

It seems to me that it is. I have a j1a 2.5 that I always took perfect care of it. Never bare skin, never in bad environment, always nikwash, always in the closet when off season, you name it... Still it got some delamination on the collar, okay not visible, in a folding part, I thought... then I wore it only a couple of time in the last season, because of good weather, then "okay, I clean it, put in closet". Nikwash at 40 degrees, then dry to fix the TX waterproof and it came out fully delaminated. After that I said goodbye to GTX products, especially considering that I have older schoeller and Stone Island textiles that are still in perfect condition and fully waterproof.2 points

It's the way to go @Broark We then all get to live vicariously on 'What my jeans did today' which can be your daily Japan trip blog!1 point

I support this decision. You’ll never again be this young with this much time off from work. Take the opportunity and go! It might cost a bit to get there, but the weak Yen will make things affordable once you arrive. I’ll bet Hoosiers would welcome a visit if you made it to Kyoto. It would definitely be the trip of a lifetime.1 point

Kirk in Gunpowder. I wore these for these probably 3-4 months straight about 2 years ago, they got dirty and I tried to spot clean some areas which just really took off the dye in a noticeable way. After that I said screw it and just wore and washed like any other clothes and they were my main jeans for a few months when I was learning ceramics. Rolled with the marbling and everything. They’re beater jeans now but I actually like them more than ever at the moment. These were really slow to shrink - to the point that I was not actually believing they were unsanforized (still not sure) - but they did end up shrinking about 2” in the inseam and definitely a bit all over after all.1 point

ACME inspired 1950s/1960s SEARS branded "Roy Rogers"? cowboy boots with decorative stitching and red white and blue "Thunderbird" inlays. A bit of a personal holy grail. Years ago in the middle of my previous vintage country/ rockabilly dive I starting seeing mid century ads for these ornate old cowboy boots from companies like Nacona, Miller, and ACME. Very common in the middle part of the 20th century due to the popularity of entertainers like Rogers and the ever present Westerns that Hollywood was churning out, these designs grabbed my attention immediately. After a few lost auctions on EvilBAY and after holding a few pairs of far too gone crumbly examples I had kinda given up hope. Good examples can go for hundreds and they were getting scarcer and scarcer. And then these fell into my lap. Showing some obvious signs of age but the leather is still robust and they are still very wearable. And the best part? They are in my exact size. 🖤 These will get a deep condition and a polish, a toppy for the soles and will only be brought out for special occasions and light duty.1 point
