you guys ever heard of instant messenger?

this thread is the equivalent of an online gay bar

I have no idea who's gossiping but they're not talking to me...

Also, just noticed the tags for this thread, "online gay bar"?

lol. Thx for pointing it out

Does anyone else feel like I do right now? It may sound selfish, but while I really really hope for Roy to succeed, all this talk about what is going to happen when he starts selling stuff again, no matter out of his warehouse or through a retailer, makes me feel a little.... I don't know... less enamored by ROY's denim goods. :(

Just saying.

The guy's still great though! Real friendly and a darn good craftsman...

Sorry tsunamiboy, but I can't agree with that. It seems that ROY's product is his livelihood and his passion. He can't continue to slog away for little or no return and by choosing a better business model, he may be able to save that product. That may involve selling via his local denim specialist shop, surely not such a bad thing?

It seems that ROY has been selling an excellent product for a relatively low price and the laws of supply and demand may intervene to change that. Unfortunate for those who missed the boat first time around but hey ho.

Another thing I am assuming is that ROY loves making jeans, but not so much the busy work of taking orders, shipping, etc. This could possibly let the man focus his talents. How many times can some answer sizing questions.

I still hope he takes orders via email or website. It would be hard for the two to coexist though.

I am not positive, but at one time wasn't there suppose to be an Ande Whall and Selfedge collaboration, but that didn't come to fruition, right?

Whatever ROY does, he makes an amazing product,

Based on all the facts, and details which we all have come to know and love about his product. i can easily see and LVC style price piont. ($225 - $250) That would be fair and just for these jeans, the $300 range will not be in the equation as they are a domestic, Made in USA product, from start to finish. which will keep me coming back for more!

Has anyone noticed the details of Roys are very simillar to that of Joe Mccoy 901? The size specifications, the button, and especially the back pockets. Are they based on a certain WWII model that features this specific backpocket style? I believe I have seen the same backpocket design on a Toys Mccoy model, but I forgot which one and also can't find any photos.

Roy can sell his jeans at $200 and they would still be selling like hotcakes. The details are amazing, and it makes me wonder why numerous non-Japanese "artisan" brands keep puttiing out abominations when a simple, understated design works so well.

truth is that the japanese have always been known for the reinvention and honestly, lets put it in perspective. how many pairs of the same so-called understated design jeans can a company selling if everyone starts selling them as well?

with that said, i cant wait for ROY to come back already.

Roy Slaper took the time to answer one of my inane questions a few days ago through email. I'm just excited to see how his line evolves, he deserves success for being a good, honest craftsman. Bums me out I missed out on his initial run - as stupid as it is I took too long to pick and distill a quote short enough to have him stitch it on the pocket bag.

In any case, dude is super nice and his product is high quality made right in the USA. There's something about that that I think more people should be paying attention to: someone in the states making jeans tough and correctly.

Hey ranon, that is the exact link my friend showed me bright and early in the morning! Hahaha. Time to practise your French. Next big thing, Pierre's Serge de Nimes Goods.

Hey Maynard, yeah I totally get what you are trying to say. Like I said, I wish him all the best, and I told him when he emailed us when shipping out the jeans that he has won a loyal fan, and I am certain that nothing has changed... much. I didn't have him selling through a retailer in mind though.

To me, the whole beauty of ROYs is that personal connection and touch, and under-the-radar thing that made me feel like, 'man, these are some jeans, and more people should know about them!' rather than too many people hopping on the ROY-wagon (which incidentally, is pulled by a T-Rex :P)...

I guess it is inevitable that demand will overtake supply of such a great product. But I guess what I am saying is the nudge-nudge-wink-wink days of ROYs are over... :(

But then again, what do I know? I am just a consumer. :o

No, not in itself a bad thing (although SE isn't local, it's now a national chain). I think most people who got ROYs previously would agree that they were underpriced, and I'm sure the added exposure will sell more jeans, which is great for ROY.

And now people who are too impatient to order jeans from ROY and wait a week or two for a custom pair will be able to buy them off the rack starting in, what, October probably.

I don't see any down side at all, unless ROY were to stop taking orders directly or limit what he himself sells to give retailers exclusives. That would be dissappointing.
