Samurai Jeans

Anyone have a good proxy suggestions for Samurais delivered to the East Coast of the U.S. I'm interested in a pair of size 34 0500s and BiG only has one pair in that size that they, for one reason or another, pre-hemmed to a 35 inseam, which will be to short after a soak or wash. BiG does not expect to get any more for a couple of months so that is why I am seeking a reputable proxy.

Try ordering from Kaizoku Pirates. The owner, Yuichi, speaks excellent English, and replies quickly. My S0500xx were ordered on a Tuesday, and arrived on Friday, even with chainstitching.

What is special about the Super Zero denim on the s3000vx? The denim appears to be darker than the denim of the s5000vx 21oz., but I am not sure if that is just the picture on Pirate's website. Also, Pirate's website says that the one wash size 36 s3000vx waist measurement is 88 cm or 34.6 inches. Do they shrink from tagged size then? Also, how much does the 17 oz super zero denim stretch? The s3000vx hasn't been discussed much so info would be greatly appreciated. I assume the measurements on Pirates are accurate. I ask because the size 36 one wash s5000vx says the waist measures 82cm or 32.2 inches. I did not think they would shrink that much. Please let me know if I am wrong about that though.

^pirates one wash stuff shrinks a hell of a lot more than other places with one wash and washing measurements by people around here i've noticed. think of pirates as a special case in terms of shrinkage, and MAX shrinkage, so what you do, if you do it yourself, wont be nearly as much as their shrinkage

Wow. Agreed about the roommates thing. Mine see my denim love as some weird thing. They don't get it at all (don't even get me started on when they saw my Lightning Denim Buyers guide...they flipped).

+ rep

calvinouch called me gay when i bought my first pair of raw denim. kept saying sarcastically to me, "HEY LOOK AT MY NATURAL FADES AND CREASES" its cool to have such a variety of denim in the house though to see all the different unique characteristics fade in person without having to actually buy all the different pairs. mine are the IHs which are about a year old but probably only about 6-8 months of regular wear. huge difference with the high contrast samuarais

does the 0500 denim shrink a lot? yuichi only has 33's left and they are 35 raw. I need them to be about 32.5. I know the 21oz keep shrinking with each wash, are these similar? I'm guessing a 32 would be ideal.

32 or 31 if you've got relatively skinny legs. 33s will wrap your body like sleeve of wizard.

Go up 1 size in the 21 oz 5000

Or 2. I wear a 32 in 0500's, which was 1 size up from TTS, anticipating their continual shrinkage; which after 5 washes is PERFECT. After a hot soak, my sz 32 21oz 5000's bought off supermarket measure 30" (NOT 31" as I was told, btw).

I saved $80, but I'd probably rather have gotten my own sz. 33 so I could fearlessly hot wash the fuck out of them, rather than now inevitably worrying when I wash them gently in cold.

Admittedly I like jeans slightly fuller that most sufuuls which is still, by any conventional standard, quite slim.

reposting all this because it was lost in the database crash

Evo pix of my S5000AI-10SP, which are essentially semi-retired. They will require so many more repairs (they're already ready for a THIRD major crotch repair) I'm not sure it's worth continuing to invest in them, especially since they don't even seem to getting much wear despite having worn them every day that it wasn't hot (in summer I wear something else). These probably have 14-16 months invested into them and they've been washed every 4-8 weeks which may have contributed to the problem since they shrink a TON every time.

The strange part is the wear shows up MORE in the places that are less abraided, like on the legs and not the lap:

Next post will show what repairs they need. :(
