I am VERY disappointed. You wont offend me. I have half a mind to send them off to samurai and ask for a refund. :(

I think I would have done that after that first ridiculous crotch blow out. very interesting weird jeans though. very strange wear indeed.

sorry they didn't meet your expectations. it sucks to be disappointed.

blm,

It looks like the majority of the issues with those jeans wasn't really with "craftsmanship" (ie cut/sew of it), but more with the weakness of the denim. From the crotch pics it looks like the denim is the main weakpoint. Almost like it was loosely woven.

Am I way off? Or what do you think went wrong with the jeans?

What's the spec on those? I ahven't followed Samurai recently, are they the natural indigo in a 17 oz or something?

I do feel your pain; my worst LVC were the natural indigo so-called 1873 pair. Sometimes I think a manufacturer has a good pair, and then when they mess with it for a premium model, it's maybe further away from the spirit of what jeans should be.

But still, every pair is an adventure, and it wouldn't be an adventure if every pair worked out perfectly!

you should totally contact them and work something out, that's ridiculous. The fact that they weren't even tight to begin with AND it's the actual denim that's completely deteriorating is just not acceptable and I'm sure they would agree and at least offer you some sort of replacement. I feel for you man, those looked like they had amazing potential...

blm14 - i feel for you man. mine aren't nearly that bad but they're also only 6 months in. i guess i know what's in store for me now... sucks bro...

i've always wanted a pair of Samurai and these were my first pair. what shit luck and a waste of money. Samurai should make like Toyota and recall all these fuckin' crap jeans.

Okay thanks ill read through, I just wasn't sure if there was a certain one or anywhere they're available specifically. I've never used a proxy before. I sent a message to SuTo asking them. Sorry for the stupid questions it's sometimes Confusing reading things when you have no idea what it's about.

The S0500XX uses 100% Texas cotton which is famous for being a "rough" cotton due to it's high amount of short fibers. Normally, the short fibers are removed to make a smoother fabric, but Samurai adds more short cotton fibers to make the yarn even rougher. The result is a yarn that is highly uneven in size, making the woven fabric very "slubby" (irregular).

not 100% sure it's the slubbiest of them all but it's right up there.

c'mon man... it's right there in the product description.

Or 2. I wear a 32 in 0500's, which was 1 size up from TTS, anticipating their continual shrinkage; which after 5 washes is PERFECT. After a hot soak, my sz 32 21oz 5000's bought off supermarket measure 30" (NOT 31" as I was told, btw).

I saved $80, but I'd probably rather have gotten my own sz. 33 so I could fearlessly hot wash the fuck out of them, rather than now inevitably worrying when I wash them gently in cold.

So did the jeans stretch out in the waist? From reading bits and bobs about these jeans people are of the opinion that the denim doesn't shrink much (maybe an inch in the waist) but they also don't stretch out much. This is such an expensive purchase that i gotta get it right.

switch - yes the issue is I think with the denim itself. It appears to have particularly weak spots, and I think the stretching/shrinking with each wash put a lot of strain on the stitching...

Paul - they are natural indigo 17oz with bamboo ink weft dye I believe. I think they may also be hank dyed and not rope dyed. The denim itself is incredible stuff but I think there's just some flaw in the thread tensions or something...
