Sanforized is supposed to shrink a maximum of 2 per cent, but usually seems to shrink more - as even my friends at Lee, who use mainly Sanforized, agree. It's often around 5 per cent.

Soaking should somewhat reduce broken threads in the honeycombs etc, by removing starch and warp yarn resins, although I believe that happens less with Sanforized fabric. So whether to soak or not depends most on whether you like the look or not. Unwashed sanforized has more of a sheen, and the fabric is flatter. I personally like that look and feel, and usually wait a few months before washing or soaking, but it's definitely down to personal preference.

Fully agree about the preferences of the denim fabric look.

I myself never wash or soak since I love the original raw denim color tone much more then the royal blue color tone you get on washed denim fabric

It has been a while since I took any photos what so ever.
My main camera lens broke a while back and needs repairs.

But a week ago after I had given some of my shirts a wash the sun hit my 76. It sparkeled in the sunlight and was so beautiful.

I had to take some photos :)

When I went through my old pictures I noticed that I had a picture from 2014 09 26 when the shirt was sparkling new with only 2 days of wear.
Thought it would be cool with a comparison picture of it on the same date and place three years later :)
So I took some photos yesterday.
Left side: 2014-09-26 2 days of wear 0 soak 0 machine wash
Right side: 2017-09-26 241 days of wear 3 soaks 1 machine wash

I just posted the txt below in the IH forum thread on "What do you think we should make". I'm interested in what people here think - tell me if I'm smoking crack:

"The ripstop shirt (IHSH-185) is the third western shirt this month with pretty loose p2p in relation with shoulder width. Am I imagining it? Or is it something others have noticed too? In any case, I'd like to put in a request for shirts that would fit people with a reasonable tapper from shoulder to waist.... I know you can't decline every fabric in 2 fits X [western + work], but maybe not all models have to have such big torso..."

I've been bitching about IH shirts' boxy fit so it's only fair that I should point out that the new IHSH-191 has a great fit, relaxed but not boxy. The color & patterns are great too, IMHO.

First post here! Been around on r/rawdenim for a while, but the activity's been slow there recently and I've gotta get my fix of online pants folks.

Just ordered a pair of 634-DD and a few Last & Loom socks from the Outlet; can't wait to get them into this winter's rotation. Anyone else rocking either those or the Loom Breakers?

Curious whether they shrunk at all after a soak. Do you happen to have any before and after measurements?

cross post from IH Forum IH-888-NT thread

I didn't get as much shrink as I expected in the length - 1.5". I was looking for an inseam of around 33-33.5", and it was recommended I get them at 35.5". Now they are at 34.0", which is too long in this cut. I'll have to get them hemmed again. I usually don't wear cuffs, and like some stacks, but this is too much.

Pre and Post measurements, size 34;
Waist: 34.0" - 33.0"
Front rise: 12" - 11.5"
Back rise: 16.5" - 15.75"
Thigh @ crotch: 13.325" - 13.0"
Thigh 2" down: 12.5 - 12.0"
knee @ 14" down: 9.25" - 9.0"
Hem: 8.5" - 8.325"
Inseam: 35.5" - 34.0"

Overall, at the moment, I'm not as stoked as most fella's here are. I think these 34's are a size too big in the waist and top block, but the thighs down are good. But if I had gone with a 33 I'd have thighs on the tight side. I'm fearful that once the denim stretches out and relaxes, I'm gonna have saggy crotch and diaper butt due to the high rise. I'll give them another hot wash soon to get any remaining shrink out, but I don't expect much more. When I get them hemmed 1" shorter I'll probably feel better about them.

Once I'm fully recovered from recent surgeries, start exercising again at full tilt and get my ass back, I might fill these jeans out a bit more.

Now I'm wearing a sample pair of 888 jeans for a world tour on IHF, I have to say these are the first pair of IH jeans that have really fit me well.
Managed to get a IH keychain from G too.

Started wearing my 634 UHR again a couple weeks ago since the temps really dropped. I've worn them a couple months each of the past two winters. I'd say I have roughly 6 months total wear on them now with 4 machine washes and a soak. They are easily one of my favorite pairs. The denim is so heavy and it feels indestructible. These were my first pair of unsanforized jeans and I accidentally sized up on these. The good thing is the loose fit makes them really comfortable and I wouldn't want them any tighter given the heavy weight. The UHR fabric was a bitch to break in but now I love it. I plan on having these in my winter rotation for years to come.

@antiseptic fit looks good. Hem length + cuffs is up to you. I suggest you do a hot water wash, inside out, no spin, hang dry to make sure you've gotten all the shrink out. Then decide if you want to hem. UHR seems to shrink different amounts for different people, but it'll shrink most int he length. The waist will stretch out fairly easily if they get snug.
