TCB: happy jeans contest

The next day I was headed to see Mister Bob Roberts. I have been meaning to get in with him for years. I finally did. We exchanged stories. He blew my tattoos up on his Instagram out of respect for his friends, the artists who had made them. He told me the story of getting his back piece done by Ed Hardy in 7 sessions over 9 days. Opiates will do a number. I asked to see it and he obliged. A living legend showing me his art from a living legend. I was feeling so blessed.

 

 

He blessed me with a psychobilly skull from his original flash from '83. Bob's now 70 and been tattooing since '73. Dude played with Johnny Thunders and Frank Zappa. I was humbled.

 

 

The next day I went to see Mister Chuco Moreno at Classic Fullerton.

 

 

 

 

 

We've been working on my front every trip out for a little over a year. All in TCB.

 

 

Goodbye LA and hello hometown Santa Barbara. Headed north on the 101.

Once in Santa Barbara, I went to see my friend J Medina for a tattoo.

 

 

My friend Patrice had sent me a photo of a vintage t-shirt she'd gotten in San Diego and commented that it would look cool next to Mighty Mouse on my arm.

 

 

When we met up at The Getty, I told her I just might do that.

 

 

I took my mother for her first and only tattoo when she was visiting New York back in October. I took her to see the mighty Bert Krak. He's done a good amount of work on me and I told her if you're only gonna have one, it's fucking gnarly to have it from him. Here it is all healed on her 60 year old skin.

 

 

I took my grandmother out to lunch at a restaurant we've been sharing meals at for over 30 years. The recipes and flavors are still the same and some of the staff are too. It's a very special place to me and one I never fail to visit with family on trips back to SB.

 

 

Finally, a sneak peak at the jeans. I figured I'd save all the denim pics for the final thread and drop the trip stuff here. I hope to have those taken and up in the next few days. It's been real gentlemen. Thank you for sharing this.

and here we go with my last update, possibly!

 

As I've written before I've recently recorded my first solo project album which will be out on may.

the final master has been delivered to the producer about 10 days ago, and I've been spending some time during the past week working on the graphic layout of the album. Now it's done and a few days ago cd has been sent over to the printer. Yay!

I believe the album will look at least as good as it sounds.

I will always remember the tcb 60's as the jeans which have withnessed the birth of my daughter, and I will for sure remember the 50's as the jeans which have withnessed the birth of my solo album haha!

 

I am genuinely honoured to have received a bit of help from Hajime and his wife Minae to make this album look so special.

As some of you might have noticed the parcels coming from TCB are always hand written with a very beautiful, simple yet effective and readable hand writing. That's Hajime's wife Minae who does it.

I love those characters, they always make me feel happy when I see them on a parcel! So I've asked to Hajime to sweet talk his wife into doing the lettering for the album. They were delighted to do it, and likewise I am now delighted that I’ve asked them! They first sent me some samples of Minae’s writing

 

Then, with the help of my graphic we converted the hand writing of Minae into a font.

 

We used the font for all the cd, cover title and booklet! I think it looks great, and very unique.

i think it's a good idea to finish this post with a picture of yet another gin and tonic, for no fucking reason!
