Recommended Posts

Okay folks this maybe doesn´t belong to this thread, but otherwise I don´t want to start a extra new one for my questions... Does anybody have experience with Dry Capital E Jeans, today I received from USA my lomg awaited "Skinny Stacked" made of lowweighted dry denim, guess 10-11oz, with an extreme leg inseam from about 39inch... does anyone now how the fade and how much they shrink when washed hot? many thanks :) I don´t want to alter the leg length cause the hems got chainstiches!

To Paul, airfrogusmc and all sifus here,

Need your toughts, just saw this on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-1940-LEVIS-501XX-BIG-E-LEATHER-PATCH-W31XL31_W0QQitemZ300084839078QQihZ020QQcategoryZ11483QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Is this the original '47 or repro? Is it worth the asking price?

This seller also got some interesting vintage but I'm more interested on his '47s because it's really match my size.:)

Regards,

Do not pay that much for those jeans. Buy some new ones and break them in yourself at a fraction of the price.

I posted this in the small questions thread but still havent recieved the answers i was looking for. Thought it best fit in this thread even though their not LVC (sorry if it does not). I bought these levis at the thrift store for $1.50 and figured i'd use them just for their material because i knew they wouldnt fit me cuz they were a 36 waist (i'm usually a 33or34), so i took them home and washed them and tried em on for kicks and miraculously they fit like a dream. So after all that being said. I am trying to identify which model these are and any other information about them. I was told PAUL T may be able to help.

Paul T ,

Picked up another 507xx today , this one is a repro of a 1954-62 . Has a card 507xx tag and double sided big E tag . To date/confirm bona fides is difficult as the previous owner/s cut the white wash tag off and buttons are unnumbered . I have a leather tag , one big E sided red tab 507xx with a 555 wash tag (and buttons) located in the same area . My question to yourself as "our LVC expert " is ...... was a model like this produced and when by Levis LVC or did it pre date LVC ? Sorry to lumber you with this one but you are the man to go to ( as they say !!!!) Thanks , Mike

As an aside , a piece of advice to anyone who is into retro/vintage denim..... make friends with your local dealer(vintage clothing of course !!!) The jacket I got today cost me nothing because i became friends with a guy who owns a vintage shop . We have both helped each other out numerous times in the last couple of years and when I went into his shop today the jacket , which he could sell for a large profit , was waiting for me .

Whist I am online , just to confirm previous advice on soaking/shrinking current LVC 1947s . Got a pair of 36/34 today and warm soaked them in a bath for 90mins and they are now a 34/31 (my size) and still dark indigo and stiff (infact the indigo loss in the bath was pretty much nothing !!!)

Hi All,

That washed-out fade is the opposite of hwo you'd want vintage to look.

The pair in your pic looks gorgeous!

as far as I can see these are original 1940s because the red tab shows no trademark "R" these R hadn´t been used untill the 1950s... I think the price is a bit high, but the condition seems great, unfortunately the leather patch is missing.

Yes, I noticed that.

Do not pay that much for those jeans. Buy some new ones and break them in yourself at a fraction of the price.

Just missed a raw '47 with W33L34 size on ebay recently. Anyone got a pair to offer?:)

BTW, thanks!

Regards,

My '47 501's are almost here from Dejan.

Wearing a 34" in Lee Gold and have 34" in the Uniqlo's.

Went 34" x 32" in the '47's and will shrink in bath (wearing them) to hold the waist but bring up the inside leg.

Will let peeps know how it goes - not because I think I am interesting but because I know from experience it's tricky to gauge what shrinkage can be expected etc.

PS out of interest - are all '47 LVC's Cone?

The 47s are undersized. You probably should have gotten a 36. The 34 actually starts out at 33" before shrinkage and will shink down to 32" or 31". The 36 on the other hand will start out at 35" and shrink down to 34" or 33".

All American-made 47s use Cone.

Eek.

Well the Lee's have stretched like hell so I was hoping they'd shrink on me, stop and loosen. If they come in too small to start I'll store them for any future health kick and grab a pair of 36". If they do drop to 31" waist I'll never get 'em on! Cheers for the shout - I'll soon find out :-o

You sir couldn't more correct. The Lee 34" are hanging off me (worn unwashed 4 months to be fair) but I can't even get near buttoning the 47 501's up. :(

Anyone want em!?

These are supposedly LVC BIG E 1955 501XX. Can anyone verify?

I'm a little confused by this pair... usually the model number on the garment tag indicates what year it's a repro of, i.e. 47501 or 55501

but most of the other details seem ok. any bigger LVC heads wanna weigh in?

Folks, for anyone interested I am selling the Levis bunkhouse shirt in supershopper. I am willing to bring the price down to $150 shipped for anyone interested. The shirt was just slightly too small for me.
