  8. Hi Dr H, Good to be back. My 20s 201s are also 555, Both my 47s and 55s are from near the end of USA made cone denim and they are both really nice. As good as some early LVC pairs I had of those years. My 1880s still have most of the buttons. I have had to resew them several times. I have worn them a lot over the years. Really faded and a few spot repairs were needed over the years. ha ha. I didn't realize this but the ones with the sewn on buttons, the denim pockets and the mock felled inseams are pretty rare. The 1937s I recently bought (on sale btw) are made in Japan. The buckle on the cinch is the older version and not the correct version. IIRC the correct version for the 37s is the two toned one like the one on the 1933s. Also recently bought the 53 type II trucker (on sale to). Also made in Japan with Japanese denim. The denim is really similar to the denim on my cone 1955s. Fuzzy for lack of a better word. Really nice denim and much different from the denim on my 47s and 33s. I have lost some weight so things like my 1905 209 coveralls are big on me but I still wear'm ha ha. From what I understand those 209 overalls are pretty rare to. I have the ones with the two horse linen patch and the only came pre distressed. I'll try and get a few pictures in the next day or two. Cheers, Allen [img]

  11. Good coffee doesn’t have to be fancy imo Soulie, I’ll alternative at home between pour over, aeropress and a fairly entry level but reliable enough Smeg espresso machine. But pour over is just fine for provided I follow three consistent steps: 1) let the water come off the boil so you don’t scorch the grounds (that classic burnt plastic taste aka awful Starbucks), 2) pour the water slowly allowing the grounds to bloom, and 3) don’t over pour / pour beyond the main ‘foam’ as you’ll over extract and get a crappy cup - either too acidic or too weak. There, job done. … oh, and I suppose a decent bean or ground is a good idea too, but that doesn’t have to mean more than a few quid, as long as either are used up quickly enough so they don’t loose taste to the atmosphere. Who needs influencers when it’s just basically obvious 😄

  12. Hi Grant, Paul and Dr Heech , I haven't posted here in quite a while. Good to see some familiar names still around. I sold some of my LVC but still have a lot. I sold my 1911 333s a while back. I see LVC has done a 1910 333. I still have my rare 1905 209 coveralls, Paul, I have a pair of 1880 waist overalls. Only mine have sewn on buttons, denim pockets, centered leather patch and I think it is called mock felled inseams. (not finished on the inside). A pair of 1922 ragtop. 1901s. 1920 201s. A pair of 1947s and 1955s USA cone denim. 2 pairs of 1933s both cone denim. New Japanese made 1937s I also have a 1953 type II (also made in Japan). I'll take and post some photos if anyone is interested. Cheers, Allen

  17. Yeah for the most part. I first sew the edges of the hole to clean it up without the patch and then i do another pass to sew the patch on around the hole. Then i just finish it up with a design to sew down the rest of it. I’m working on cleaning up the backside but generally this is enough to have the repair stay on with repeated wear and wash

  21. Yes, it's a double walled stainless flask which holds 400ml of coffee.. i made the coffee at 10am and it was still hot ...ish at 3pm when i finished my ride. As i've mentioned before.. when i was in my late teens - early 20s, i started to suffer from really bad insomnia, to the point where.. if i woke up at 1.30am after 2hrs sleep, i would lay awake till 6am and be exhausted the next day.. so i started going to work when i woke up, even if this was 1am.. While trying to sort this shit out in my early 30s, i stopped drinking coffee for pleasure and just started using instant coffee as wake-up juice.. i ride to work at 6am, make a horrible coffee with 3 of 4 heaped teaspoons of instant in a pint mug.. browse the webz for an hour while i'm drinking it, make another and start some work.. after this second cup, i'll only drink water for the rest of the day.. which means i drink loads of water through the summer but not nearly enough through the winter because it makes me feel cold .. My insomnia has been under control for a good 15yrs now apart from the occasional flare up in times of stress but i still don't drink caffeine after 8am.. The house we stayed in Sicily had a Bialetti pot so i was using that which made my shitty instant taste a whole lot worse when we got back.. i tried to up my coffee game back then but my sense of repulsion towards the online coffee influencers was overwhelming (what a set of fucking wankers coffee peeps are) i couldn't bear it so went back to instant.. ..anywho, family bought me a K6 Kingrinder for xmas along with that^ Velo Canteen and some swanky coffee from https://foundrycoffeeroasters.com/collections/coffee-beans .. i've had a low value parcel of bike bits waiting to be shipped from Zen for some time.. so i'v tagged a Kalita copper dripper onto it.. (they retail for £80 over here, it was £22 from Rakuten) with 200x Kalita filters for £7.19 They're still in Osaka but i'v been making coffee with an old french press this week.. i can't imagine i'll go back to instant after christmas so when the pourover biz arrives, i'll probably take the french press to work.. Next step will be drinking coffee again after 8am.. as any insomnia sufferer will know, it's not the caffeine keeping you awake, it's your brain telling you that you can't sleep because you've stepped out of the parameters you set for yourself..

  26. SUGAR CANE NEP DENIM COLLECTION & MORE Nep denim jeans and jackets from Sugar Cane have landed. Made of a Sugar Cane original 13.7oz. indigo neppy denim featuring a warp yarn of rope-dyed indigo and a weft yarn of grey with colored nep. The jeans feature double knees only at the knee area and have some interesting tool pockets attached to both legs. The jacket features pre-war changeable buttons, a 3-in-1 pocket on the left chest, and adjustable cuffs. Sugar Cane’s Okinawa and Hawaii jeans are finally back in stock. The mill producing this denim had some issues running the fabric last year so no retailer had this model in stock for well over a year. They’re finally back, but Sugar Cane has stated going forward they will not be available year round and will only be produced once a year. We also have a full restock of Whitesville t-shirts, leather belts, and 1955, 1947, 1966, and 2021 jeans. Shop Sugar Cane Online: https://www.selfedge.com/sugar-cane

  27. I wasn’t looking for ‘how to make coffee’ per se.. I was looking for suitable coffee making apparatus bearing in mind that it would only be used once or twice/wk at home.. I battled through the excitable, bearded, tattooed, under shaved, selvedge apron’d click baiters.. to a realm of pseudoscience minimalism with digital weighing scales and atomic clock timers.. ”fk, it’s gone 1second over, shits ruined” I bailed at this point.. what a horrible world it is.. imagine the sub-reddits ..anyway, I thought pourover would be best for my situation, low cost and more importantly, low clean up time.. I can drip it into a glass flask, fill my cup, fill my canteen and head off for a bike ride..

  29. Hello mate, I’ve never had a pair of Resolute to compare, but it looks like the BeeBee guys have made a few fitting videos at PSA on their channel; https://youtube.com/@beebeechannel11?si=UzCSXFgw_HeY8uDn You might find a video with the same guys who tried the SD100 to compare how they look on them.

  30. Hmm yes, 'winky face' indeed. Nice to read but disappointing in the detail as usual. For example "Even the poorly done stitching on the waist belt is identical to the original". Looking at the two photos above that statement, it clearly isn't identical. The stitching in some of the other pics are different colours on the og compared to the lighter yellow of the repro. And l wish Sugarcane would take the flasher and ticket off for photo comparisons, as it blocks the view of the rear top block. Anyway I'm happy with my FW 1942'S 🙂

  36. Today's adventures took us to the Romney marsh sound mirrors. These big and rather beautiful concrete structures were built in the inter-war years along the south coast. They were designed to act as an early warning system for approaching aircraft but were effectively made redundant by the introduction of Radar. The area is now a nature reserve. You can only get right up close to them on certain days. This wasn't one of those days 😀 Next up, a bit Further along the coast to Dungeness which is a strangely bleak place. There seem to be quite a few artists in residence living in various shacks. Many other dwellings look to be airb&b's Derek Jarman famously lived there.

  37. I’m in NC-Winston Salem on leave visiting family rn and dropped by this new store called Fancy Groceries. It’s on Trade St. and they stock Tellason, Dehen, Wonder Looper, Rail Car, and more. I bought a pair of socks (I’ll post the brand later). The owner Max was cool and the store recently opened this year. Told him about the board. https://www.instagram.com/fancygroceries/?hl=en Stop by when in NC! I also dropped by Heff’s Burger Club and got the Fiona Apple burger on 4th St. Later got an eggnog latte and oatmeal cream pie cookie at Camino bakery on 4th st. https://www.instagram.com/heffsburgerclub/?hl=en

Great examples of early Western wear all around. National Archives American West Photo Library

  45. My natural indigo 1880s were a bit grubby so I gave them a handwash. For those who haven't seen them before, this was pretty much LVC's last model and, more significantly, Cone's last new fabric, an 1880s nautral indigo repro, using indigo grown in the US. It's a bit dark and my hands are a bit shaky (hangover) but this gives something of an impression. My previous natirual indigo jeans included the early Levi's Nevada/Kurabo, the SDA, Sugarcane; this is easily the nicest fabric. Crocks quite a lot but doesn't wash out, lots of crinkling. These are close to the perfect place, so for the summer I've switched to my old 1890s single pocket pair, which are Kaihara fabric I think - nice, but the slubbing is far more regular, Cone really mastered a more random slub on what would be their last new Levi's style fabric. The other pic is the field that supplied the indigo, harvested at dawn.
