I’ve started wearing a small shoulder bag to keep my keys/phone/wallet/other EDC like the gentlemen of Japan do, so I was looking out for a simple, slim long wallet to replace my beefier denim nerd ones. I found this Porter Yoshida one used on Mercari for very cheap, and it’s just what I was looking for. Nice Italian veg tan leather with a lovely patina, neat sewing, made in Japan. Plenty of space for my stuff, but slim enough that I could keep it in a jacket breast pocket if I opt to leave the bag behind.4 points

If 40cm across is what you’re looking for, then the 31s should probably stretch out 2” in total (from 37.5cm) to that. If you were hoping for a pair that’d start at 40cm and then stretch beyond that, then the 31s will probably be too small. Either way, the 34s are likely to be too big.3 points

It was a lost weekend in a hut in Hathersage, luckily not double pneumonia in a single room… A top escape for me and the lad in the Peak district Walking in the great outdoors, staring into meadows while drinking morning coffee, making friends with the sons of stags, listening to streams trickling, swimming in the local lido, sticking to a caveman diet of meat, fruit and veg and chilling away from it all Walked up Stanage Edge and Bamford Edge. At one point, I thought I heard a rumbling down below as if someone was in the drains and then a cool bike flashed past… we were deep in OO Soul country so who knows if it was him or not… Importantly there was denim on the trip… tatsunosuke military trousers and Freewheelers 1930s set-up2 points

Only half of it was done in jeans and the rest was done in sweatpants or else, also not done today but moreso over the last 9 months. I finished a sweater over the weekend. Raglan top down construction, seamless and knit on the round, 100% wool, and a turtleneck-ish collar. Took inspiration from arans on the braids, but not as complex as your typical aran knit. Really proud since it's my first piece with braiding and any break from simple right or left right patterns. The pattern on the sleeves came natural as a help for sizing them down for the cuffs, same for the sides.2 points

My experience has been an initial shrink of 0.6cm at a 40c wash, and then a stretch of ~2.5cm from there after wear (without a lot of stress on the waistband, so you'll probably get more if it starts out tight.). After another 40c wash, the waist shrinks back down and then stretches back out the same amount.1 point

I don't have my pair handy but I've got this pair in a size 30, and I tend to wear 30. If anything, it's got a little give. If you normally wear 31's, I bet it will be fine - there's a chance FC missed on this pair though. In my experience they're not the most consistent in manufacturing (for instance, I have 0105 in the 11 oz denim in size 29 which fits a touch more loosely at the waist than my 30's in the 13 oz denim).1 point

Welcome @PrettyBoyTony! I would say that unless they feel extremely tight and uncomfortable then they should stretch out plenty. If they're not tight anywhere else, e.g. the thigh, then you should be okay. The 0105 is fairly versatile, going up or down 1 or 2 sizes might be okay but going from 31 to 34 is a big jump.1 point

Every time I try to buy a pair of white denim from Japan, no matter the brand, they sell out quick. The pair I bought was the last pair too. I can see this color is very popular there. If I didn’t get these, the next pair would’ve been some Levi’s white denim. Todd Snyder sells a MIJ pair but for $300 that’s too much and I’m not interested in the brand.1 point

^ The way the pattern is cut makes all the difference. This is why some brands’ jeans (like Sugar Cane or Warehouse) seem to fit almost everyone pretty well and some brands’ jeans (like ONI or N&F) manage to fit almost no one: patterning and grading are really not straightforward. It’s not possible to tell how jeans (a 3D object) will fit—or how two pairs of jeans will compare to each other—based on a few 1D measurements any more than it’s possible to look at a few measurements and use that to produce a functioning pattern for a pair of jeans. That said, if you’re just looking at how the legs fit, you’re at a pretty big advantage here since both pairs are cut with straight outseams to accommodate the edges of the denim. If they hit your crotch at the same point (which, admittedly, is a pretty big if), you should be able to tell everything about how they’ll fit your legs by separately measuring the widths of the front and back panels at a few places. My bet would be that one pair has an inseam that sits appreciably farther forward than the other’s, towards the crotch—and that they’re probably cut with fairly different curves through the crotch and seat.1 point
