Just read the HP SC47s page again. Some of the 47Ns come with a pre-shrink inseam of 37 inches. You could get some and dry clean them perhaps?

so i've received my edo ai's from grandism, and have been wearing them a few times since. i've already got the cold wash out of the way, in which case they shrank two inches on the length, none in the waist. they are quite loose, probably like '55 LVC in the legs, with an anti-fit seat. the denim is really streaky, with hints of green. my only complaint is that they are itchy as hell, because of the woven in fibers of sorghum. the first wash took care of some of that, but they definitely take some getting used to. after all was said and done, they were about $350. which is a lot less than what's available at HP.

Yeah the itch will be there for awhile but will slowly go away unitl you forget it was even there. I think someone once posted (it might be earlier in this thread) that it was actually good for your skin?

first post - hi people!

can anyone recommend me a nicely loose fitting - but not baggy as such - model of sugar canes? i like my jeans with a relaxed cut, a bit loose but not baggy - in the sugar cane line, what model should i go with?

also how can i find out about the different styles of Sugar Canes? apart from the pics on rakuten, what are my options?

I bought a pair of Samurai S5110VXJ that were 34x36 and they shrunk an inch to 34x35, after the hot water soak. They use the same denim as the right hand 17 oz zero mode (S3000?) .... so those should be fine too. I also have the SO110XJ (Left hand 17 oz) and those shrunk from 34x36 to 34x34.

Different denim will shrink different amounts.

Edit: not really a specialist in Sugar Canes, and tbh those were the only ones I have seen so far - so there may be others...

@dubwise: cheers, 40501 looks nice

but still, if anyone can recommend a nice relaxed fitting SugarCane, just so I have more optons, I'd be most grateful...!

(cause my bro's going to tokyo and i want to give him a couple of options what to get me)

Wasn't meant to be a dig. Sorry if it came across a little harsh.

You will find that History Preservation, if you look on the website or give them a ring, will me more than happy to help with any questions, from fit to leg opening etc etc.

As a rule, the earlier the baggier for Levis fits (except for the WW2 years). So pre-1940 and the 1955s too.

I just bought the 1955 Levis model - not washed yet but I bought a w36 and it is very baggy- to the extent I may reorder in a w34 and stretch the waist !

Also have 40300N in w36 - loose fit but not baggy after washing.

Finally I got the 40500N in w36 - loose, perhaps a bit too loose, could have got a w34 in them.

I also have tried the 1947s on - w34 in raw staight fits in waist but quite a loose fit.

So I think if you bought any of the above in your normal size you'd find even after washing ( allow for length shrinkage of 2-3 inches ) they would still be pretty loose.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey all,

after only noticing Sugar Cane denim a few months ago and nearly buying a pair from grandism but was too slow. I can't stop thinking about handing over some money for a pair.

My questions to you guys is

1) Is there a online place I can buy a pair for a decent price?

2) Are there any stores in Tokyo that will have them in stock (name and location would be great)

3) What size do I buy for 32 waist?

thanks for any help/comments.

awesome heaps of neat stuff at juno bid-service! Do you live in Japan?

Its says seller will not ship internationally? Can i get stuff delivered to Australia?

--- Original message by miketan on Mar 28, 2006 12:19 AM

Well you first pay the deposit and then Juno will bid on the item. After you win you pay the full amount and including the fees to ship to his place in japan, the tax fees, his profit, and finally to your house.

hey great info thanks.

I'm going to buy some SC SATOUKIBI from hinoya in ueno, then get them sent to a friends house.

Just with the size, the site says something about 5cm shrinkige off waist and 9cm off length does that mean I should get a 33 instead of my normal size 32.

On a pair off jeans I already have, they have a 40cm wide waist and around 105 in length and they are a little smaller than I'm looking for.

cheers again.
