It’s worth noting that the 22501 and 22501XX are different denim and cuts

What is the difference?
The 22501XX's denim and cut are normally specified as for example at DC4:
"13.5oz Raw Japanese Selvedge Denim from Conner’s Sewing Factory

• WWII pattern based on original vintage pairs "

At the above link (untouched) they write for the 22501:

  • " 13.5 oz sanforized Japanese Selvedge Denim
  • Levi's 1940's 501 WWII silhouette: high-rise, wide-leg straight fit
  • Once washed, minimal shrinkage to be expected"

Is for the 22501 sanforized denim used?

They’re both WW2 models S501XX - their details are about the same - and both based on real vintage pairs so their cut and shapes are different between

The 22501XX uses Conners WW2 denim and fits fuller through the hips. This denim is dark and has a lot of character

I could be mistaken about this - but I believe the 22501 uses the Miura denim. Either way, the denim is a bit lighter and greyer in color. The fit through the hips is slimmer, flares quite a bit. My pair was tight in the hips and loose in the waist, while my 22501XX fit perfect in the waist and have room in the entire top block

The statement that the denim used on the 22501 is sanforized - I believe that is untrue - maybe someone else can chime in?

Interesting stuff.

Are both pairs still being offered?
I think, there was a reissue recently of one of the pairs.

I believe the 22501 was reissued once - the 22501XX was pre-order and made for select stockists, deliveted this year (2 years post-pre-order)

Again - someone else might have additional information I am ignorant to
