Jeans are here!  Thanks for getting everyone taken care of guys.

I am impressed with the trailing stitches and two tone threading as mentioned but I think my favorite detail is that the patch artwork is embossed.  That is a super nice touch to indicate the high quality, and it's nice to see it on such a custom, one-off patch.

 

I hope the patch can survive the rigors of my shrinking methods as they are intense.  Fits to come.

In the meantime, here's a quick and dirty iPhone shot while sitting at a red light on the way home from work. I thought the sun coming through the car window really brought out the denim's texture.

My Saturday afternoon consisted of running a few errands around the neighbourhood so I thought I'd share a piece of the local area. Wing Lee Street is one of the few remaining areas in central Hong Kong with the old style tenement architecture and was used as the setting for a very popular HK movie a few years back. 

 

 

Redevelopment had been planned, but the success of the movie meant that the street was instead preserved.

 

 

Some of the housing has not been maintained however and I find it fascinating that these pockets of decay can exist right next to new towers - especially in a city where every last inch of land is built upon.

 

 

 

I finished-up in my local coffee shop Lof 10 ("Love Often"). It's run by two Cantonese friends who returned home from LA with the ambition of creating a little bit of relaxing California space in HK. They even serve Handsome/Blue Bottle coffee.

 

The flat white still needs a little work though. Too milky!

gonna throw up an update this evening, but I was excited to see the beginning of oxidation on a few of the rivets.  Not traditional rust, but that discoloration brass gets where it starts looking like an oil slick...

Thought I'd document my commute to work.  

 

First things first, fit pic.  Buzz Rickson, #tcb50scontest, Bakers red dog roughout oxfords

 

The parking lot directly across the street from our apartment just got a new set of murals.  Lots of bad shit has gone down in Oakland, the murals do not shy away from including this.

 

We live just north of Chinatown and just east of downtown.  Its a good area, a bit run down.  Im usually on these streets at 7:30 am and its like a ghost town. Just one block from here there is this terrible nightclub that always has "VIP" events.  Basically all the ghetto motherfuckers show up, and someone ends up shooting someone else.  Since its been re-opened, I have heard multiple gun shots and got to read about it the next day.  Nobody has been killed yet though.  

 

Gotta pop in and get my cappuccino.  

 

 

Take Bart, which is Bay Area Rapid Transit.  Its ok, usually on time but severely under performing during rush hour.  Crowded as hell.  Probably nothing compared to the things you see in Tokyo, Beijing etc.. but its pretty rough.
