Levi's Vintage Clothing

if your pair is from LVC japan then they used japanese fabric.

the EU and US LVC have always used Cone denim when appropriate. Cone started making denim for Levi's in 1915, in 1927 Cone became Levi's exclusive supplier of denim. so, 1927-1983 are all made by cone. the 1915 is made by cone, but the 1917 is from japan.

for pre 1927 jeans LVC EU and US used denim from Kaihara. I'm guessing this is supposed to be the alternative to the original supplier, amoskeag, who no-longer exist.

the change that occurred is that cone will now be supplying all denim for LVC. 1870-1983.

I don't know if that applies to sanforized models like the 1967 505.

A very good summary... only slight detail is that pre-1927 denim was by Kurabo - they're the kind of Amoskeag replacement. Kaihara make the Sanforized fabric, for the 505 etc - and they'll continue to do so. Kaihara seem to specialise in Sanforized fabric.

I cannot for the life of me remember what, but some of the fabric for the future non-501 jeans comes from Orta Mills in Turkey.

Cone used to supply all the post-1927 for LVC Japan, but over the last four eyars or so, they sourced their own, probably from Kurabo and/or Kaihara or others.

I packed up my 1937s and 1915s and rode out to this weird secluded area next to a cemetery. I don't really feel like having to explain my neurosis to other people, I'm sure they think I'm strange enough already.

This did make me laugh. I can so relate to it. It was really hard walking around my 'hood, and getting my son to photograph my arse. He seemed to think this was reasonably normal behaviour, but I kept thinking neighbours, or parents from school, were watching, wondering what weird perversion this was, and looking for the Social Services number.

woops, I had them mixed up in my brain.

.

The 2010 505 has a 'Made in Turkey' label sewn into the inner waistband. Although it still says 'Made in USA' on the paper patch.

I hope if they do open another NYC outlet it's better than their last attempt (Selvedge). It wasn't horrible, but I always thought they could have done much more.

Yes, the chinos are washed. I only looked quickly, but the washes look good.

I spoke to Maurizio, the big boss at some lenght. I told him they had to get their sizing consistent, as they're pissing off customers and retailers. I didn't mention the cinches, but I have mentioned this to one of the deisgn team previously.

Oh, more info:

1: they would like to open a NY outlet.

2: Because XX is freestanding, more independent, after a certain amount of time they have to pay their way. Thus it seems, and this is only my understanding, not at all official, very likely indeed there'll be a price hike. I've always guesed that LVC makes a loss on every pair sold - this iscorrect, the range has alwasy been a loss leader.

The picture is correct. I believe that the arcs are purple for some 1944s, depending on which year they were produced. I saw someone wearing a pair of new ones last Friday and I did a rubber-necking double-take, all in a totally non-gay way of course!

FedEx delivered my 201 order from Cultizm today. Thia is my first lvc purchase (that I didn't return) outside of ebay and 1st from Cultizm. I've gotta say Cultizm hit a home run w/ their efficient and perfect service -- I mean that Dejan dude really's got his shit together. I ordered like 12AM Sat and got the damn things today, un fu**ing believable! As for the jeans, man they are some bad ass threads. Since the 201's been sold out for about a yr., I was afraid I'd get stuck w/ factory reject or a pair made in Poland or Turkey, instead they are everything I expected and more. Will post pics nxt day or so w/comments. Oh yeah, thanks to the dudes who explained that VAT bit to me a few posts back, w/out the heads up on that I wouldn't have bot from Cultizm and would've missed out on these fantastic jeans.

Congrats Dejan is the MAN. I will never order jeans from anyone else as long as he's doing it.

INTEREST CHECK...

I am considering unloading a very rare early LVC piece, the 50s leather jacket (size SMALL) from the Fall '02 collection. It's pictured here

http://www.superfuture.com/supertalk/showpost.php?p=531991&postcount=8

It's going to be really hard for me to let this go, but it doesn't really fit me and if I do get rid of it, I want the visitors of this thread to have first crack at it. PM me if you're interested. Mods, I'm not sure if this sort of thing is frowned upon. If you need to delete it, by all means do so.

PS...it won't be cheap.

It ain't LVC, but the regulars of this thread are the most likely to appreciate some of the new Heller's Café Warehouse range - recently up on Henry's blog:

http://denimnews.blogspot.com/

Larry at Heller's café is a real coinnoisseur, an incredibly helpful guy, too, and I'm blown away just by the feel of these items. I shudder to think how much they cost, and perhaps there is something decadent about spending so many of the earht's resources making a new item look old.... but it's still an inspired range.

Check out this detail pic:

I'm not familiar with that particular item, but it does look like LVC is introducing another run of their white t's with this Spring collection.

I have a number of their t's and they are my favorite...especially the ones that were produced around '05-'06 here in the States. They were a much heavier weight than any of their t's I've seen before or since.

oki-ni has a decent selection

http://www.oki-ni.com/Brands/Levis-Vintage-Clothing/icat/levis

endclothing also has some t's:

i posted this in small questions to no avail...

im looking for a plain white LVC 'grandad' tee, i think its from a few seasons back. cant find it anywhere, does anyone know where might sell old stock or had anyone seen it before??

help!

As a life long jean freak I'm glad the workwear fetish has come along. I went a long time not being happy with the jeans I bought but I don't really get the interest in stuff like the Great Western Chief jacket EXCEPT as a work of art. Do you guys actually want to buy and wear it? It looks like stuff designed by Mao for the proletariat to wear.:-) Extremely sexless. In that sense it makes a lot of sense to me that it's popular in Japan as there's something very Asian looking about it to my eye. For me though it's all about the western wear.

i go with ChuckO, i think he´s right about those a mao jackets... and i think it´s rediculous to pay 55 pounds for a grainy, greasy look tee, okay it´s cool but damn, not at this price... but lvc is more and more becoming to high with them prices... thank god theres ebay!!! ;)
