I didn't realize there were so many Carolina Chocolate Drops fans around. I caught their show last year at the Tractor Tavern. Local boys the Whisky Swillers opened. There were kids to geriatrics slapping knees, whoopin' and hollerin'.

I have to spread more before I can give reputation for switch's fine family adventures.

Ditto on the meetup auf Deutsch.

So I want to introduce myself to you guys, I'm John, aho's replacement. I saw he was parting ways with them and jumped at the opportunity to be a part of this. I just got them in the mail when I got home from work today along with another package. Here are some quick fit pics:

I have been wanting a new board to just ride around my neighborhood on and one with an old school shape. Saw this one on eBay for $55 which is the same price as a new one. It's a Powell Peralta board from 1991, when I was 3 :).

Lastly some buttons I've been holding onto for suspenders one day. Going to put them on these for sure.

The details on these are amazing as you all know but it is great to see it in person and to know that I get to keep em forever and ever. I am glad to be a part of this and look forward to the rest of the contest.

Welcome, John! The fit on your Roys looks excellent. If they feel a little tight around the waist, just wait. They stretch a lot...

In 1991, when I was 17, I was skating the Powell Peralta Ripper :)

ahaha! Welcome aboard friend! Glad to see they arrived way ahead of schedule and they aren't too tight! ;)

Use that new board and your new jeans hard...Glad you were able to take my place, I don't doubt they'll look amazing in the next few months although you'll have a lot to make up for since I was slacking...

Welcome not to tight. It looks like they were made for you. Which is pretty good since your one of the only ones who it wasn't...

I pitted the ROYs against a wall of Himalayan blackberries the other day. I wanted to save them for the fruit, but I let them go the last couple of seasons and they have overrun the neighbors which isn't cool. So they had to go. The general method, if you are unfamiliar with these beasties is to use small pruners to try to trim back all the interlaced suckers above so you can use roundhouse kicks to bring down the large stalks, letting you nip them off at the base. It's not as easy as the description makes it seem, as they are all prickers. Two days later, I'm still finding thorn tips in my hand. My hands and boots were cut to hell, but my legs? Immaculate. ROYs :1, blackberries :0.

blackberries?sounds like a hell of a fight,i dont envy you.hope the beard survived it.

There was only one iffy spot where I dove in too deep and had my shirtsleeve caught up on the left, and the beard got snagged to the right. It took a delicate retreat to get free unscathed.

pics from fathers day and beach trip yesterday

My dad's really gotten into japanese gardening. He makes trips to japan a lot for work and gets to see the real deal a lot, and hes kinda made his own hobby out of turning our backyard into a garden. So for father's day he wanted to go to Duke Gardens in Durham NC. For some reason, he'd never been there.

I brought my bike with me in case of bike ride while at my parent's house. My brand new bike rack on it's second voyage.

I neglected to take any photos of the trip to the beach or on the actual beach cause I wasn't thinking and didn't take my phone to the water. but these are the after beach sunburn dinner time photoset, which was just as fun.

We left Fort Macon's beach access headed for the historic coastal town of Beaufort, NC. We were hell bent on some delicious seafood.

Yesterday was my 2nd wedding anniversary. Here are some shots from our dinner

I had a 'vietnamese crepe'. I'd never encountered anything like it. It was a turmeric seasoned crepe w/ chicken and sprouts. Delicious!

My lady had tofu stir fry of some sort. We went shopping earlier in the day and she found that dress. We think it was a bridesmaids dress or something, the details and print are pretty over the top. I dig it though.

We had Banana Won-tons and gelato for desert, but I devoured that shit before the wife could snap a picture.

nice updates! you always have some cool finds which make me wonder the story behind what you found. intriguing!

yes mike, you can upload videos onto your flickr but videos are limited to 90 seconds in length, and 150MB in filesize. you can use youtube which will be much better.

I have a short video loaded on flicker, how do I copy the image address?
