Oh yes! Pure gold there, Duke. But seriously as I'm sure you know, I was referring to compilations from 78rpms from the days when there was no such thing as an album. That being said though, at some point 'Albums' of 78rpms did come into the picture. These were in a gatefold book form containing 2 or more 78s. I'm not sure what year such a thing came into existence. I suspect classical albums were available in the early 30s, often utilizing the 12 inch 78rpm format.8 points

Got up this morning and Leonard had made a new friend ..made some coffee WH 506 drying on the line after it's annual wash ..rode up to Burbage ..stopped for a drink, wearing Odd Future Vans ..rode to The Surprise View ..this is where Porsche drivers plummet to their deaths.. y'know, not paying attention, singing along to Maroon 5 on the radio.. just picked the wife up from her bi-monthly session of lip fillers and anal bleaching, rushing to get to the golf club for a Cinzano.. when all of a suden "Surprise!" and you're off the cliff.. and here's you thinking Sheffield's only contribution to society was steel and synth-pop ..it's actually just over the border in Derbyshire but that doesn't quite fit my narative. ..can you spot the chalked out routes? .. Empty Rubicon can came in handy / Keeping Britain Tidy ..Rode through Hathersage to Hope and stopped to drink my coffee at The Adventure Cafe.. my bike was far too cool and aloof to mix with the others. ..lovely oak gate on the way to Edale Edale ..in the foothills of Kinder Scout ..up the back of Mam Tor ..down t'other side ..broken road 😍 ..home pottery in Castleton selling hand made ceramics ..Lady Cannings on the way home ..and when i got home after a 5.5hr ride feeling absolutely exhaused, my wonderful offspring had bought me a big bottle of Lychee Mogu Mogu ..the worlds greatest non-alchoholic drink3 points

Right. US tends to be slacker on the customs & tax end of things, but yes, Japanese sales tax and some surcharges from the proxy are there for sure. The thing I've liked about it is being able to accumulate items from different stores & then having them mailed in one package.2 points

You could.. but then you would have to pay 10% Jpn consumption tax + domestic shipping cost +20% VAT +duty +international shipping +£12 admin charges by the courier... i mean! what the hell! it's cheaper just to fly to Japan2 points

Someone had asked about longer type 1 jackets. This is one option. For size 4 (L/XL) in a one/wash with shoulders 51cm and chest 59cm it has a back length of 71cm (vs. say a WH or FWs in 42 or 44 with around 61cm). This is also offered for a very reasonable price of JPY 19,800. The denim is 14oz selvedge, apparently all made/produced in Japan: Kurashiki, Okayama. https://acidhouse.stores.jp/items/679c8667b859d3030c0ff0202 points

Thank you! Wish my old lady would say the same, but it's usually just, "Jeans? Again?" 😭1 point

My next door neighbour (who was born in Hackney) gave my son some 80s / 90s era vintage footy shirts a few months ago.. he's not really into football but he does like the attention.. he was walking through the park wearing a purple Tottenham Hotspur shirt from the 90s with a pair of baggy Levi's and some Jordans.. a runner ran past and shouted "Up the Spurs" to him. I'll tell ya' what, Spotify / apple et al.. have completely ruined the 'album' as an artform, my kid has had a pair of fancy headphones perma stuck to his head for the last year or so.. before that it was airpods.. he's never not listening to music.. evn when we're playing tennis, he's wearing headphones I hear a tune he's playing by whoever and say.. "Have you listened to any of their albums" "No, just this song and maybe one other" "I've got all their albums on CD.. check out such n' such album.. it's incredible" "Are all the songs as good as this one" "Well no, that's probably the standout track of the album, but it's a body of work by that artist, evn the track listing will have been carefully considered" .. "So it's 10 tracks and 9 of them are not as good as this one" "Yes that's correct, a couple of them could even be shite but that's not the point" .. "So then Dad.. with all the incredible music in the world, you want me to spend time listening to music which isn't as good as the music i'm listening to now, just because it's on an album?" "Yes exactly"1 point

Weather was just too nice to pass up.. Traveling light so strapped a rollmat to my bike.. using one SimWorks strap and one vintage 70s Snakebelt because someone (who will remain nameless) only bought one strap Not great for the knees but i was only going a couple of miles up the road.. Sun setting over the Burbage valley Looks like a nice spot.. last time i camped here, it was during the beast from the east.. Only had space for a couple of beers but i had a few mushrooms i picked in the autumn S&M Bikes, Chucks, Vintage Champion, Supreme Work Shorts and PHD down vest which doubled as my pillow Goodnight bike.. goodnight denim people..1 point

We're getting some mild Spring-like weather which can be a rarity around here, so I'm taking the opportunity to do a few chores around our patch. Trees were long overdue for a trim so I've had to be ruthless. That's hard for me as I'm one of those hippies that feels the trimming causes pain to the tree. I've used the tractor to push away the trimmings, and do a bit of mowing too as the foxtails are starting to sprout. Met a gopher snake soaking up the heat from the pebbles.1 point

Busy weekend so far. Thursday night (basically Friday night cos of the holiday) my band played a benefit gig for a homie of our who got hit with some sever emergency medical expenses. Haven't rocked a gig since December so that felt good. Then spent Friday (Saturday) and today (second Saturday) working on the bathroom at the new place with my dad. Got the old wall ripped out and lucky for us the pocket door frame fit perfectly into the void left by the wall. Got the frame installed, got a temporary floor where the shower used to be, and got the header installed above the door. Also borrowed a family friend's truck to get some of the bigger furniture out of my girlfriend's apartment. The Big Move is next weekend and then I'll finish up the bathroom at some point.1 point

3 weeks ago this weekend, my neck of the woods was hit by a devastating ice storm. I was fortunate to only have been without power for 3 days. Some friends were without power for over a week, and some areas on the outskirts still are without. I spent a fair few hours (in jeans) on clean up in my yard and around town the last few weeks. Some of these photos are mine, some are borrowed. There definitely was a certain beauty even in the midst of the destruction. And it was interesting to see the way the community responded and came together, it reminded me of the early days of Covid in a sense.1 point

Here's one for the collectors.. ..bonus Lenny photo ..it's a 35yr old deadstock Silverstone 506xx repro from 1990 ..according to 'denim legend'.. Silverstone (and subsequently Ground-Alls) went out of business because of the exacting standards of the perfectionist owners.. i don't know if this is true or denim-lore but they did go bankrupt producing an incredible repro during the golden age / largest denim-boom on the planet ..the very first cowhorn patch which has been oiled annually so it doesn't crack shirt weight denim as we would expect ..you'll not see another one of these this week, month, year.. probably ever1 point

I have a lot of loop wheeled t-shirts which I enjoy, but the favorite one is the one from Deluxeware. The fabric is soft and feels a bit brushed, it is a good mid-weight fabric. The construction and the collar holds up nicely. The fit is good, sleeves a bit on the shorter side and the length coming down below the belt, which I prefer. The colour is most true in the picture were I'm wearing it - the black is still really black despite a lot of wear and washes. The sun is out, so it looks more gray on the other pics. I'll deffinetely be getting more stuff from deluxeware1 point
