Turmeric is amazing! If you’re consuming it for its health benefits, it’s recommended to add a bit of black pepper alongside it. The polyphenols curcumin (from turmeric) and piperine (from peppercorns) taken together greatly increase the former’s bioavailability, meaning it’ll be much more readily absorbed by the body. One of my favorite coffee additives is a masala (spice blend) i had while in India years ago. I came across it in the wonderful cookbook Masala by Anita Jaisinghani - highly highly recommended as a cookbook but also an introduction to Indian spices, their traditional and Ayurvedic uses, and the culinary and cultural histories of the subcontinent. Anyway, it’s as follows: Coffee Masala (adapted from Anita Jaisinghani) 4 cinnamon sticks 2 tablespoons black peppercorns 2 tablespoons green cardamom pods 2 star anise pods 1/2 teaspoon whole cloves Ground turmeric, to taste (I recommend 2-3 teaspoons to start, turmeric has a very strong flavor by weight) Roast all spices, except turmeric, on a baking sheet in a 300 degree F oven (150 C) until fragrant, 3-4 minutes. Let cool about 20 minutes, then grind in a spice mill or mortar and pestle to a powder. Add turmeric as desired. Mix into coffee grounds before brewing. Makes a great latte as well!6 points

Coming from the market in Bursa. Tired face, vacation beard and old milk records hat. Linen longsleeve/tad tight. 90s Canes 37s, forgot the model number. late night snacking on the bounty. Mandarins are sometimes ripe when the skin is still green, as I've learnt. Same goes for oranges in some cases. This should be an early variety of satsuma.5 points

^ ha. This is what’s in our house. To be honest, I am an espresso guy. It’s all I tend to have. Pulling my shot in the morning is one of life’s primary pleasures. On occasion an Americano but not often. If I have coffee at all - usually out of necessity - it’s black. That said, I try to take some time off from caffeine about twice a year and am currently about 3 weeks (caffeine) sober, so my wife suggested some tea out of this powder. I don’t mind it. Still miss my espresso though, but I may try this in a (coffee) drink once I fall off the wagon again. Let me also register a dissenting opinion from above. Cinnamon improves a great many things!4 points

More Canes... these came From Japan... big thank you to @nopal who provided the tip-off this time 👍 M41030V... a '37 model, in size w36, l36 which levels out at about a w34. Interestingly laurel wreath buttons - can do more pics later They look unworn but washed... the hem has slight signs of roping and the inseam was 87 which iirc is about what my M41001 were at post-wash So I quickly tried 'em on - a nice wide fit - and stuck 'em in a 40C wash Post wash, the measurements are unchanged... I'll be calling on @Mr Black's hemming services soon4 points

I like a good espresso but start the day with a Chemex for a nice, clean cup. I hand grind the beans with a Commadante grinder just before brewing. My missus used to make tumeric milk daily and thanks to the convo above looks like it's game on again. Done by... grate fresh tumeric root into a milk pan; add a little coconut oil and heat. When it starts to get golden, lower heat and add milk. Let it boil, then allow to go luke warm, filter it and add honey. Plus you can add cinamon to taste (if you're not Gee!)3 points

Most excellent find! Funny enough, I just saw a pair of these on YouTube the other day in case you want to see how they might fade:3 points

In other news… Picked up my absolute dream pair around a month ago, the M41059. I actually already had a pair, which I’d found years ago in the same size (33) as my first M41058, but it turned out that these run around a size smaller, and there was no chance they were going to be comfortable after shrinking. These new ones are tagged 35, and in great condition. Ignoring older MP-series wares like the above, this model has always been right at the top of the list of Cane’s I’d like to find.3 points

I was in A&E with a wrist fracture, i was chatting to this chap who said .. he used to suffer with a lot of fractures in his fingers because of the cricket ball hitting them.. his dad started giving him Masala Haldi Doodh (turmeric stirred into warm milk) before every match and he never suffered again.2 points

Ive been getting into overnight oats recently.. This one is a cup of oats, half a cup of coconut milk, half a cup of cows milk, handful of chia seeds and left in the fridge overnight.. I’ve sprinkled it with *turmeric superblend, handful of flaked almonds, handful of pecans and a squeeze of blossom honey. *remember that Indian fellow in the cricket whites I was chatting to in A&E when I got knocked off my bike.. he suggested turmeric as a cure all.. I’ve been into it ever since.2 points

Went with something different from chinos and denim. Just came in today. Present to me for the weight loss. Phigvel canvas painter pants in off white color. Buttons are pretty cool. They fit kind of baggy but that’s what Phigvel is known for in their carpenter pants offerings. Can’t fit cellphone in side carpenter pocket so only pens/pencils can fit for now. Size 3.2 points

I finally got time to comb over the size chart for the new WW2 late 40s model. All measurements look identical to the 1890s, at least in my size. The hips and waistband seem to have a bit more of the flare of the 1890s than the nipped design of the original s40s too. I think that they'd fit and suit me pretty well, but I have no clue if I'll end up buying them. I actually don't own any WW2 repros, but others catch my eye as well1 point

Waiper issued a year ago and now again the LVC 36 506 jacket in soze 48, apparently world wide exclusively. They're showing fits here for different people in rigid, washed and also after tumble drying. From 18:50 on. Pretty cool, how far these shops go to explain the goods they sell and help people with sizing questions.1 point

try cleaning no.1 and no.2 [not evisu code] from your favourite carpet or other soft furnishings (your bed...)... nappies are the most crucial purchase... but yes; now is the time to find the right jkt [or 3] for the tux...1 point

Talking about sizing up. Apparently Waiper has exclusively offered a LVC 1936 506 in size 48 last year and is doing so again. Their employees have been wearing the jacket for a year and are showing the development. With wearing oversized being hip for some time now, we can sometimes see cases, where it's too much, but, I think, that is not the case here.1 point

It has it's benefits but i wouldn't swap it.. when my kid was little we were out in the Peaks every weekend, camping, hiking, fishing, bike riding and such, it was exhausting but incredibly rewarding.. our tent got trampled by cows so i bought a swanky replacement Snow Peak tent.. lockdown happened and he turned into a teenager thereafter, the tent never got used so i sold it.. he now goes camping with his mates.. he's got a Pure e-scooter so he doesn't even rely on me for transport.. His hands were cold last week so i suggested we went to Decathlon today to buy gloves but he was too busy with his mates.. we're supposed to be doing some father / son clothes shopping in Manchester during October half term.. i can pretty much guarantee this ain't going to happen due to his busy schedule.. so make the most of it while you can. Peeps who i used to ride with are either too busy with young families or too out of shape to keep up so you end up doing a lot of shit by yourself.. which might sound heavanly now.. but trust me, it gets old fast.1 point

Briefly.. during lockdown, i acquired a Roland TR-909, i was really enjoying it when my friend who it belonged to, sold it.. what an inconsiderate wanker! I've since bought the boutique versions of the TR-08 and the TR-09 I can't play them live, a'la Jeff Mills so i spend hours programing them ..It's my birthday in Jan.. i'm hoping for a TB-03 squelsh box to add to the mix..1 point

What looks like a deadstock or almost unworn pair of M41027H (WW2 Lee 101 B with a huge rise) in 32/36. https://www.fromjapan.co.jp/japan/en/auction/yahoo/input/p1143464218/ These probably would fit me and are tempting, but feel free to have a go if anyone is interested. They'd probably be a tad tight and maybe too short for me though after shrinking. Seller has lots of early Evisu (in the thousands of dollars), early Denime, and Full Count and Sugar Cane with arcs. I got my pair of Kyotos from them.1 point

I really like that fit on you personally, and the denim will continue to shrink all round over time (not sure how much with this particular fabric but I assume a good bit). A slightly higher cuff (or small hem) can make a big difference in the drape as well, especially when the fabric’s broken in a bit more. I think one or two cuff turns, with no break, really helps give structure to the leg on these wider cuts.1 point

Here's a size comparison between a new black 505s in size 36, and a pretty new 50s in size 36. I wear my 50s a little larger than most western guys I think. I would describe the fit as relaxed everywhere. Waist a tiny bit bigger than my waist and no stretching. 505s are a little bit smaller in the waist. Very small stretch for me. Although the thigh is around the same as the 50s at the top they feel slimmer all over. Rock and roll fit. Other TCB sizes I wear... 40s in 34, 30s in 34, 1890s in 34 (pics in this thread), Cats Drive in 34, Tabbys Work Pant in 34. Don't try to go small on these.1 point

Sorry for the long silence- personal and work life have been extremely busy. Reopening the Stores is going to be later than I'd hoped, aiming for end of September but it may spill over into early October. However, AW24 production is coming through nicely, and going to be a really good one. I'm in the UK at the moment taking care of that, and tidying up some personal things. An early customer, Steven Ramm, contacted me recently about finding a new pair of 129s to replace the pair that he bought a decade ago. He's now the owner of some Mars Black dyed ones, here are his 10 year old logwoods: "I have a new digital back for my Hasselblad 500 c/m and this was its first outing, so I was just getting to grips with it. Maybe that's why the shot of the front of the jeans isn't sharp! Not really sure how that happened!" The front shot's my favourite 🙂1 point
