BlackBlue now carries TENDER CO. in Saint Paul, Minnesota!129s in woad and unborn.i'm super excited. these are even more amazing in person.of course i tried both on. I'm generally a 31" waist. a size 2 was far too small in the unborn but perfect (but snug) in the woad.the woads aren't coming off....a couple (big, sorry!) shots:BE366995-B241-4FEC-A37B-702574956FE4-2835-0000031A2267A161.jpgFBB91101-15AB-4969-AC51-F0BF54F70809-2835-0000031A31A3CB6E.jpg

^no, sorry, those were a one-off thing for last autumn/winter. I'm afraid I don't know of any left available in stores either.

ps, satchelbmoore, thank you very much for posting fit pics! I'm really delighted you have my jeans in :)

Is the 129 alot slimmer than the 130 ? i got a pair 130 woad and im swimming in them

^^^ yes. That said, i've never tried on a pair of 130s. the 130 has more room up top and solid taper. the 129s are more in line with our favorite slim (not skinny) fits from your favorite american or japanese brands as far as rise, thigh and taper. in terms of details, nothing really compares to tender.

however, it may be a matter of needing a little more shrinkage. look back at this thread to find some more info on shrinking and fit.

I thougt that the woad was already shrinked , due to the coloring with woad?

But then it sounds like i have to get my pair sold and buy a pair 129 woad.

Hi,

Question about your unborn jeans: if the waist fits snug-ish before an initial soak, after the subsequent shrink, then the inevitable stretch with wear, will they fit similarly in the waist as when they were raw?

Or will they shrink far beyond the point where they can be stretched out again with wear?

I'm a 32 waist, so not sure whether to go with a 2 or 3....

Thanks!

^anyone else feel free to comment, but i'd say they'll shrink quite a bit more than they'll stretch. So in your case unless you want them super-skinny (which isn't really the way I'd suggest Tender should be worn) I'd go for a size 3- they should be too big before their first soak.

I own a pair of the flower pot trews (sp?) that are size 3. I can't really comment on the stretching/shrinking; however, I too am a size 32W and the Tender size 3 fits me perfectly. I think a 2 would easily be too small.

Some postcards from Shibuya....

I'm just home from a great week in Tokyo, showing samples for next season (SS13), and catching up with everyone. One of the lovely things is always seeing peoples' own worn-in garments. Here are Akira's woad-dyed left hand twill shorts:

and a beautifully beaten-up purple logwood pair at Nestrobe:

Here are a pair of first-production natural indigo-dyed 132s (complete with pencil pocket), beautifully worn by the owner of Brown & Seedling:

here's shin, owner and designer of the excellent shoe brand kids love gaite, trying on my own pair of wattle-dyed 132s:

I hadn't known shin's brand before, but the shoes are great. he worked in London for the old curiosity shop (as in dickens, amazing building, run by the eponymous Japanese shoe brand), before setting up his own line in Tokyo.

here he is trying on Tender's sunglasses:

and my own glasses:

and the same glasses on the excellent Mr Nakanishi, of Loftman in Kyoto:

finally here are some pictures of the fil melange store. they make their own line of amazing quality Tshirts and sweatshirts, and also sell a few bit from other brands, including Tender :). They used to have their own denim line too, fil 'em alls. Now defunct but well worth a look if you come across old pieces.

Here's the shop:

Fil Melange's signature colour is orange, so I made jeans for them with belt loops cut from some remaining scraps of 'flowerpot' dyed canvas left over from the first production of trews:

I haven't been able to find any thigh measurement for a pair of 132--waist 30. Do you know what that might be?

^sorry to sound lame, but i can't really help you with this. i don't have a pair of size 2 to hand, to measure, and depending on dyeing/rinse/raw etc the measurement will be slightly different from the pattern in any case. Please could you contact a store directly to ask for measurements from a pair which they have in front of them? Any further questions please feel free to email me.

Understudy here in Calgary started carrying some items including the belts, wallets and jeans. Those woad dyed 129s look interesting. The stitching threw me off but I suppose that fades.

@satchelbmoore - nice St. Paul Saints hat. I recently bought that hat plus two others at the EFF store in Seattle

These guys are based in the UK cool_hand. http://shop.the189.com/collections/tender-co/products/type-129-dip-dyed-woad-blue-slim-denim-jeans-tender-co

No import taxes and their customer service is like no other, they were amazing with sorting me out with my 129 Unborns!

I believe Buttery Store in Essex and Number Six in East London will be stocking the new season of Tender too, but not sure if they'll be getting 129 Woads.
