concerning the standard denim:

i measured the waist of my 66 postwash and with lots of wear and got a 32'' (BiG), should I get a size 31 in the sd-101 or a 32?

I'd say a 31 will be fine, but lots of you people reported the denim to shrink over time and not stretch back out to pre soak measurements with enough washes.

Type: D1657

Worn for: 1 hour

Washes: 1 soak, 1 wash

A more active SDA thread, great!

Here's the new comer for winter rotation: D1657, the 18.5oz 107 silouhette new SDA.

Gave them a warm soak and a wash. They did not shrink that much. My measures before wash were really close to the one you can find on SDA official webshop.

The after soak measures (cm):

SDA 1657 s29

waist 77 -- 76
front 25 -- 24
inseam 90 -- 87
back 35 -- 33
leg 16.5 -- 16
thigh 29 -- 27

Just tried them on for an hour or so. First feedback are:

  • They're so confortable from the get-go! It's a very different feeling from the SG5109 where you feel like you're forcing your way in, especially the knees.
  • The denim doesn't feel that heavy compared to say some 17oz Sammies.
  • the top block is the same as the SD-103 cut (measured both).
  • can't wait for the temperature to drop and give them some wear!

In the meantime, here are a few pics:

they are great!

and they would look even better if you'd found a better spot! :-(

how did the denim shrink and stretch back out?

Well I tried to prevent them from shrinking too much with a clothes hanger in the first place. I actually did the same with my new pair. They stretched back to more than raw measurements after 1 month (about 2cm more or so).

^really?

hm, hm. think i still stick with the 31. thanks vgadjo and MF!

No worries. When I'm saying two cm, I mean from 77 (raw) to 79cm total waist so you may want to think 1cm for flat measurements.

Thanks everybody for the good words.

Looks nice.  I wish I could find this SDA shirt in a large.  Klax only has it in a small and in the way-too-contrasty colorway.

you could try the SDA online shop, i can't find it anywhere else on rakuten. Also i totally love that shirt i find it hilarious

So what's the info on champloo and SDA? I can't find much

There is not much to say....

Anniversary edition (Okinawa, being returned to Japan) - standard denim, standard cut, limited & numbered edition done by DoubleVolante partly because they are located on the very same island), special embroideries (flag label, pocket bag), special patch.

Was released by SDA a year or 2 ago together with 2 tees - long sold out since. Maybe some pairs might be still available on Rakuten, PSA or Take5.

Take5 did their own run of this model slightly later, with the embroidery move from the pocket bag to back pocket.

Since then, 2 more tees where released earlier this year and now OKI-815 is about to be released...

If you go through DoubleVolantes blog you'll find progress pictures of all three editions - OKI-515, Take5's version and the upcoming OKI-815, along with some pics of the tees.

SDA and PSA will put pictures with details on their respective website once the jeans are available. You can also ore-order with Eight-G on Rakuten or PSA...

if i were you I'd be very carefully with wearing this in the usa, or honestly any place at all. after all this feather-head-thing worn by a pig is nothing a native american with a backbone would like to see. regarding the cultural background of the feather thing and how the white man treated the natives, i would definitely respect that. i obviously lack the words to describe adequately why, but i would call this sacrilege.

the military stuff is another thing, especially with the american post ww2 and vietnam war counterculture the SDA pig just blends in nice.

Not to spark a huge debate but I've lived in America my entire life and have been to Native American casinos.  I don't think there is anything offensive on that shirt.  Native Americans take extreme pride in their culture and heritage.  The over designed feather head dresses are pretty much a defining aspect of their culture.  It is embraced.  If you go to any Native American casino you will see them.  If you see Native Americans in old-time pictures they are wearing the head dress.  It is a source of pride to them.  And rightfully so.  They are beautiful items.  Seeing a mascot wearing them I don't view as offensive.  They take offense when certain sports teams take their imagery and slap offensive names or use obviously racist cartoon imagery.

But possibly it would be smart to err on the side of caution and respect even if I don't personally feel it offensive.  I have exactly 0% Native American blood running through my veins (as far as I know) so I don't really have a right to speak on the topic or decide what is offensive or not.

This is also why I feel like it's difficult for me to really buy into items that have Native American imagery on it because even if we may think that it's not really that offensive, coming from a position of privilege, we can't really say if they should be offended or not. I really wish I knew where to read more about the Native American products that are offered by Japanese companies and whether or not we're crossing the line on cultural appropriation when we do so.

Obviously wearing a Native American headdress is not a good thing. But is it fine to buy tees with these Native American prints on them? I also think this is the problem when taking from the past because of the general insensitivity and ignorance of the past. Just like with the Mister Freedom Saigon Cowboy, there are some things that are present in the past that generally isn't appropriate for wear today. What we need to do is to be able to discern between the two.

If anyone has a pair of SDA107 in 34 that didnt work out for them..... Let me know

Sorry to break up the t shirt debate.

I hope I'm not out of place in saying this but with your more athletic physique, I think you need a looser cut with a higher rise. If you want SDA -10* denim, you'd probably be better off buying 101s and having them tapered rather than trying to squeeze yourself into lower rise slim jeans.

You're probably right. 103 would actually be way too damn tight in the waist in the size i need (34) 107 looks about the most accurate but you're right i may need to do a 101 depending on the waist. I have a pair of 3sixteens that are almost the same measurements as the 107 and they fit well and the rise on the 107 is actually more.

EDIT: http://imgur.com/4jnv72nThats a pair of mine that are the same measurements as the 107 but actually have a lower rise and a smaller thigh. I like the fit so im pretty confident the 107 will work.
