Denim World Championship - SuFu Division

this is probably my last trip in the dwc jeans for this contest. sadly, i don't think i have pictured or taken a photo in them during the duration. flew to melbourne for 5 days, then drove to adelaide and then sydney for about a day each. i think i covered 3500kms in total, with the adelaide - sydney leg being the longest at 1400kms in 14 hours or so..

Melbourne's all about the cafes, the coffee, good food, rooftop bars, secret bars and everything "cool" within australia. there's really good cafes with brilliant menus and good coffee/roasters. i haven't been to melbourne in almost 8 years now, checked out the NGV, where the Viktor and Rolf exhibition was on and did most stuff around the city areas.

Adelaide. 700kms, 7 hours drive from melbourne. not too bad for a first ever visit. not too much to do on a first trip. relaxed mostly around the main city shopping strip. really loved the place. somewhat similar to perth but with more stuff. there's also cool little bars and of course RHD.

sydney. the longest drive i've personally done. 1400kms or so. i only got into sydney about 2130 having left adelaide at 7am. the drive was amazing though. with great twisty bits and an entirely straight and empty piece of tarmac for about 170kms. Sydney's not too shabby, very hectic and busy with high rise buildings everywhere. sadly, over the past few times i've ever been in sydney, it's been such a coincidence that i'm never there longer than 2 days. at least this time i've managed to drive over the sydney harbour bridge. i've stopped by canberra on the way back to perth from melbourne airport as well.

Thanks @louisbosco for the great pics! Interesting Med' Europe feel to some of the buildings.

no worries mate. (i can't explain this right without citing mabo v queensland and the doctine of terra nulilus) but the british were here back in the early 1800s. so it's pretty common to see british influences on building design which would've stemmed from medieval europe. there's a lot of protection with heritage buildings and the use of them.. i guess it's a good measure to protect these amazing structures from the masses of new and upcoming developments.

The last few months of the DWC are finally here, and it’s great to see that we still have quite a few regular contributors showing off their well-worn denim and boots. These long contests are a real test of a wearers endurance and, just as with the previous contests, it’s understandable that quite a few contestants have dropped away. For those who have stuck out the long road it is time to start thinking about how we are going complete the DWC.

The DWC will officially end of May 1st 2017, after this date the following will happen.

-          Remaining contestants will have 2 weeks (until May 15th) to post their final submission pictures. Due to some finding the DWC forum a little difficult to use we will accept submissions on both Superfuture, and the Iron Heart forum also. All final submissions must contain the following information.
·         User name
·         Jeans/ jacket/ boots worn (Brand/ model)
·         Period of wear (2 years? 1.5 years?)
·         Weight class entered (jeans only)

-          From May 15th we will take 4 weeks to collate all the entries, verify participation, and get submissions ready for the judges to view. This will be complete by approximately May 30th.

-          The judges will then have four weeks to advise the DWC of their choice of winners from each category.

-          In case of a tie in any category the DWC will have the final decision on the winner.

-          Winners will be announced on or around July 1st.

Finally, it is a sad reality of the denim business that sometimes retailers go out of business, this has, unfortunately, affected some prize sponsorship of the DWC in certain categories. We will endeavour to ensure that remaining prizes are shared as fairly as possible, but where no prize is available from a sponsor we will attempt to find an alternative.

Thank you for sharing your amazing denim journey with us. It has, as always, been a genuine pleasure.

nice, looking forward to seeing everyone's final pictures! My pair is on it's way back from being repaired, the pockets had detached on both sides and my crotch was finally starting to go. Looking forward to putting in some good wear the last 6 weeks.

My work finally started forcing me to wear brown pants when in the field (pretty much all the time), so this is about the end of DWC for me (i'd probably only get another 15-20 wears max by May 1st so not much). My parents also sold their house, so these are the last pics I'll take with the wood/deck background. A good closing to the DWC for me (since all update photos were taken in the same spot)! Shit ton of pics incoming...

17.5ish months, 10 washes Samurai 0500xx mid-weight category 15-17oz (I don't actually remember the categories but I think it was this one)

'Thought I'd play catch up on the last quarter leg of the contest, but the NYC weather just won't let me see it my WEY.

Here's some crappy iPhone porn of my EW-0110 before the final wash.  I know it's wishful thinking to expect that,  in a short span of 1.5mos,  I can bank enough ataris to skew the [sad] outcome

A final update I suppose on where my Sugar Cane 1947s sit today; a small hole blew in the crotch a couple weeks back, and my phone has torn and marked the coin pocket some. Fried the patch a bit when I first got it, too. This is about as wide as I'd like to go; from here on out I'll likely stick to cuts closer to the WH 1001 or the Freewheelers 1951. That said, I'll still be wearing these!
