And you shouldnt trust fitpics, how long you are standing in front of a mirror? Your body always move, i judge my jeans how they fit and feel on me.My Okinawas have a huge hipflare when i stand in front of a mirror, but they are so comfortable and wearing them feels just right.

Hey there, I want to cop a pair of 44's in the rigid pack I'm a 36 waist and so I should probably get a size 38 to account for shrinkage right?

Also what's the fit like on the 44's? I've heard they are a little wider than 47's buts thats okay as long as they aren't wide enough to swallow my sneakers.

44s are wider than 47s. They have a boxier top block and straight legs. Personally I would buy true waist on these since they aren't undersized like the '47s are. If you are looking for a baggier fit you could go up two.

im about a size 35 waist and i went for the 36's in the 44's and they fit awesome, im at about 6 months on them and the fit is perfect for me as I have pretty big thighs and like a more 50's boxy cut, the hem is a decent size and works with most sneakers ive found. Id say go with the 36, ive had a few other LVC's (201's,37's,47's) and these are by far my favourite fit wise, not too baggy not too slim

I've heard "no," but I haven't seen anything that would actually lead me to believe they're continuing with LVC here in the States.

Is LVC being phased out in the US?

I was able to take a look at a buyer's book of LVC items for Spring 2009 in the U.S. So I assume it's not being phased out in the US.

I remember there being a 1966 501,1890 XX, 1937 501, and a weird "Lot 66" bib overall from the turn-of-the-century (not sure of the year), and a 20's sack coat. There were also some 1930's 501 women's coochie-cutter cutoffs with patches on the butt.

A friend at Levi's in the US told me they're going to be getting current Euro LVC until next season, since Taylor Togg's shut down.

Thanks...were all those jeans "washed" or were there any rigid pieces? One of the many things I hate about LVC in the US is that most of the jeans they offer are pre-distressed (usually very badly) and then they charge you mucho $$$ for the privilege of buying half-destroyed jeans.

Where can I get 501 '47 in small sizes like 28-29-30 shipped to Canada? I've checked Cultizm and they only have 32x34 as their smallest right now. Are they going to restock soon with the fall collection or should I buy from somewhere else?

Thanks

To Amatarasu, I would ask what the exact measurement is on them before you buy. I ordered 47's from cultizm, and they accidently sent 44's, they are tagged 38W, but measure 40.5"W. Not to bad mouth cultizm, they are sending the 47's and solved the issue quickly.

To answer your question, shorty, yes - most of the pieces were finished. I think I remember the only ones that came in deadstock were the 1947 501, and the 60's 505's.

ugh. that really blows. i guess i'll just give up completely on LVC USA.

My first LVC were 1947s, and I had the hardest time finding a pair that were 34x34 for some idiotic reason. So i wore those for six months (and still wearing them) then decided i wanted a pair with a longer inseam. so i had to go to cultizm. the quality of the denim seems to be nicer. it hairier and more slubby than the USA model. does anyone know why that might be? is lvc europe using a different denim for their rigid reissues than lvc US? paul t?

I don't think so...I'm pretty sure that all recent LVCs (at least the last couple years) made in the USA (both for EU and US markets) were done at Taylor Togs. That was of course until Taylor Togs closed down last year.

Regardless, the actual denim for most of the 'standard' rigid jeans definitely came from the same source (Cone Mills). Some of the 'limited edition' models use Japanese denim though.

"LVC repros of the 1947 jeans tend to be undersized. A 34W might actually measure 33. This will shrink to around 31, before stretching back to 32. But remember, the thighs etc will not stretch as much, so these will still be a fairly slim fit."

There's a comparison of 47 v 67 sizing there, too...

http://www.superfuture.com/supertalk/showpost.php?p=599611&postcount=3

yeah i really wish i knew this before i got my 47's a while ago. i got my true size and soaked before wearing. they were pretty tight at first, but i've been wearing them for a long time now and the waist is more bearable now but the jeans are are still pretty restricting on my thighs. so from experience, my advice is to size 1 up on lvc 1947 501.

I just bought a pair of US made LVC 1947's in a 38X36. I allowed for 2" of shrinkage in the waist. Cultism also said they measured 37.6"W before. Well, they measured right at 38"W. I have done two shrinks, the last one I soaked in the tub for 3+ hours, and changed the water to keep it warm. Measured after drying, and they are just a 37"W. Any suggestions to get more shrink out? Any help is very appreciated.

Through them in the dryer. You can starch them up if you want them to be crispy afterwards and set creases. Or so I've read.

Hello guys, It's my first post here. I am Denimseeker (ig: denim_seeker).
I have been collecting vintage jackets for a while, esp. denim jackets. Feeling that the denim world deserves a better guide for Levi's denim jackets so I tried my best to make one. The guide is much more complicated than those you see on other websites (i.e. Heddel's or Long John etc) so you might need some basic understanding to read it. This guide is open for comments and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to let me know. This guide is still a work in progress and would be wonderful if everybody in the denim world can contribute.
      That being said, enjoy!

      Hi All,
see you again on 2020 and I wish you all happy new year. this time I need your opinion about Levi's BIG E that I found at flea market few days ago. I found an old Levi's vest (its a jacket once before), this vest do not have a cinch back, I also cannot see the number on the back of button, tag was unavailable. only rivets, red tab and selvedge that I can see clearly. here's I send you the details. Hopefully someone here can give me an opinion regarding this Levi's. Any opinions are welcome, I do appreciated.
      please let me know.

I checked the Encyclopedia thread and only one Levi's link didn't give a 404 error, so here goes nothing. I should add that a lot of the center patch jeans actually aren't vintage (at least the ones I'm looking for) and date back to around 2006. I've talked with Levi's support a handful of times and got nothing out of it. I'm trying to figure out what all the center patch pairs are. I know I haven't quite figured them all out, but I've found a few, though they seem very hard to come by, and obviously aren't currently in production. I'd really like to find a pair with the white "Quality Never Goes Out of Style" center patch. Something tells me I don't have the ideal wording, and if I knew exactly what to type, I could probably find a plethora of those jeans. When I google 519's, I have to block the words extreme or skinny (add a - in front of whatever word you don't want to see in the results) or I get mostly brand new pairs of 519's. Here's what I know so far:

This pair, which can be seen clearly in the first photo and on this store page (which has other photos of the same pair) appears to be 519 slim fit. However, they don't seem to be the normal 519 slim fit. One site I looked at called them "519 slim fit side adjusters". I have looked extensively over the past couple of weeks and was lucky to find that clear photo, as well as that store listing and one Ebay listing which sold a while back. On a side note, I found that 511 skinny leg (or a version, rather) seems to look the same, with the centered white patch and waist adjusters, but they too are hard to find. The 511's and 519's have a white patch that says, "Quality Never Goes Out of Style". There may be others as well.

You may recognize these from the Moonbathing ads. They are part of the "Two Horse Brand" collection, which have a yellow and white patch and say "Two Horse Brand" on the patch. 506 and 511 look identical, while 509 has the addition of a cinch back. There might be other fit numbers I'm missing.
