Levi's Vintage Clothing

Recommended Posts

Bought the 1920's chinos today. I'm almost always a 30x32 (in LVC 505 1967, for example), but I got these in a 28x34, which is slightly tight in the waist, but I expect them to stretch a little. The length is quite short, about the same as my 30x32 505's, but the sewn cuff seems to be simple to rip, which will give them an extra inch. The fit is relaxed over the seat and thighs, but they taper very nicely for the last 20 cm or so, so the fit still feels modern. The waist is high; for me they end up just under the belly button. Fit pic:

I also tried on a pair of 1930's riders chinos. The seat was relaxed, but the legs were very slim, not too flattering on me. The pockets had some kind of flaps over them, apparently designed with motorcycle riders in mind. I can't seem to find any pictures of these, but they were pretty cool. Very Steve McQueen.

the 507xx has two chest pockets and those buttons on the back for hip adjustment.

Great score Ranon, we need some fit pix now please.

Shorty is spot on btw, early Lvc made 04/98 (555)..etc.

What a lovely jacket!

And as mentioned, it's LVC rather than that early Capital E (which was pants only). This is one of their first items, a very nice catch.

The 505 skinny minnie are my favourite LVC by far, the cut is perfect. It is the pair of jeans I cut all my jeans too. well if they need it.

Jacket still seems a bit too big, soaked twice..might try doing a soak with boiled water and run the dryer..I mean, it's comfortable, sleeves a bit long.

Sh!t picture but you can see the cuff :P

i would let the sleeves be a little long. where they bunch up will form nice wear patterns. if you go for boiling water, it will be a mistake. i've done it twice with two prs of jeans. both times they came out a sickly blue color.

Saw your other photo in the what are you wearing thread. A trip through the washing machine might shrink it a little more (no need for super hot water and the dryer), but not a ton. From where the shoulder seams are sitting, the jacket is a size too big.

word, fwiw, i had bought it when i was 20lbs heavier (and plan to be there in 3 months)

if you really have to have max shrinkage,i would recommend a hot machine wash inside out/no soap & go ahead and put it in the dryer inside out. if there is any shrinkage left to be had that will bring it without ruining the color and only slight indigo loss (done once). glad to hear you're staying away from the boiling water it will ruin the denim and it will never recover. not content to learn that once i did it twice with the same result.

1930's riders pants. Slim fitting chinos with a loose seat. The fabric is a medium weight cotton twill, seemed durable enough. I liked the color and the details, but not the way the fit on me. Pics from Unionville, which is the only place I know that stocks them.

This lined duck chore coat has been mentioned before:

http://us.levi.com/p...=sack+coat&sr=1

levisduckcoat0.jpg

It's not LVC but Levis. Still it's made in the US and with the beautiful Cone Duck.

Unfortunately the lining is 80% polyester, only 10% wool and 10% some unnamed material. The sleeves are lined in acetate. But I guess that prevents early wear and tear.

It's been reduced from 498 to 199. A reasonable price for a high quality item made in the US.

It should get warmer soon but still a nice spring/autumn jacket.

If you can't patent clothing design, why is the arcuate part of Levi's trademark?

patents are for processes and functions, trademarks are for branding elements like names and logos. the arcuate only serves a decorative purpose, as was ruled by the us government during WW2.

if im a 29 waist, what sz should i get for 1947's?

I'm a 32 and had to go with a 34 waist.

After a 45 minute warm soak the waist shrank to a tight 32 that has since stretched out to a perfect fit.

Hope that helps.

Hello guys, It's my first post here. I am Denimseeker (ig: denim_seeker).
I have been collecting vintage jackets for a while, esp. denim jackets. Feeling that the denim world deserves a better guide for Levi's denim jackets so I tried my best to make one. The guide is much more complicated than those you see on other websites (i.e. Heddel's or Long John etc) so you might need some basic understanding to read it. This guide is open for comments and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to let me know. This guide is still a work in progress and would be wonderful if everybody in the denim world can contribute.
      That being said, enjoy!

      Hi All,
see you again on 2020 and I wish you all happy new year. this time I need your opinion about Levi's BIG E that I found at flea market few days ago. I found an old Levi's vest (its a jacket once before), this vest do not have a cinch back, I also cannot see the number on the back of button, tag was unavailable. only rivets, red tab and selvedge that I can see clearly. here's I send you the details. Hopefully someone here can give me an opinion regarding this Levi's. Any opinions are welcome, I do appreciated.
      please let me know.

I checked the Encyclopedia thread and only one Levi's link didn't give a 404 error, so here goes nothing. I should add that a lot of the center patch jeans actually aren't vintage (at least the ones I'm looking for) and date back to around 2006. I've talked with Levi's support a handful of times and got nothing out of it. I'm trying to figure out what all the center patch pairs are. I know I haven't quite figured them all out, but I've found a few, though they seem very hard to come by, and obviously aren't currently in production. I'd really like to find a pair with the white "Quality Never Goes Out of Style" center patch. Something tells me I don't have the ideal wording, and if I knew exactly what to type, I could probably find a plethora of those jeans. When I google 519's, I have to block the words extreme or skinny (add a - in front of whatever word you don't want to see in the results) or I get mostly brand new pairs of 519's. Here's what I know so far:

This pair, which can be seen clearly in the first photo and on this store page (which has other photos of the same pair) appears to be 519 slim fit. However, they don't seem to be the normal 519 slim fit. One site I looked at called them "519 slim fit side adjusters". I have looked extensively over the past couple of weeks and was lucky to find that clear photo, as well as that store listing and one Ebay listing which sold a while back. On a side note, I found that 511 skinny leg (or a version, rather) seems to look the same, with the centered white patch and waist adjusters, but they too are hard to find. The 511's and 519's have a white patch that says, "Quality Never Goes Out of Style". There may be others as well.

You may recognize these from the Moonbathing ads. They are part of the "Two Horse Brand" collection, which have a yellow and white patch and say "Two Horse Brand" on the patch. 506 and 511 look identical, while 509 has the addition of a cinch back. There might be other fit numbers I'm missing.

Levi's Engineered has some center patch jeans as well, though I'm really trying to find more of the white patch pairs.
