guys, do you think this is an "artificially" faded pair or is it possible to achieve this light blue color with a pair of raw/one wash Resolutes ?

The denim is a little bit "flat" and "muffled" from what I can tell (lack of better terminology)....Reminds me a bit of 60's/70's denim that's really marbled although I'm probably completely off base (Paul T can confirm), and I recall Gordon saying that Hayashi-san is more in to this type of denim...

I was referring this post, but yeah I must've misunderstood, my bad.

so do you think this level of fading can be achieved with a "one wash" pair, or should I stick with a "rigid" pair ? asking this cause only the "one wash" version seems to be available to us in Europe :/

I honestly see little to no difference between raw and o/w jeans when it comes to wear. Unsanforized jeans have to be soaked anyway just to get the fit right initially. If they hold up, with enough washes any pair of jeans can end up as light as the ones pictured above.

I don't really get all this soaking only thing. They never fully shink. For me when possible I buy one wash or put them straight in the washer.

regarding washes, I think we're still being plagued by the whole APC/Nudie mentality which is easy since it's been so pervasive. Washing is good for the fabric, and you can still achieve "grail fadez" if they see water a few times; one wash isn't going to completely wash out all the color, especially with jeans on our level. When a company tells me NOT to wash my jeans, I start to wonder if it's because the dye isn't of good quality...

Well, by now hopefully there aren't many companies or retailers recommending "wear raw, don't wash for 6 to 12 months".     

 

Soaking is a throwback to the days six to eight years when people wore their jeans too small to begin with, and were terrified a little water would leave them too tight get into, and they'd end up with a $200 pair of powder blue jeans.  A record of it exists online, so unfortunately questions about it are going be around a long time.

So true. I remember back in '06 when I was researching buying a pair of APCs, I was convinced you couldn't wash them for six months or they would loose all of their color. These damn threads had me terrified of not downsizing enough and planning where I was going to ocean wash.

I love how in that rawr article it says, "For those new to or unfamiliar with raw denim, the goal is to achieve as sharp fade creases and contrasts as possible, thereby leaving you with denim that is suited to just you." Assuming that's how everyone should wear their jeans.

Rawr has gotten better, but still have a hard time reading the majority of their posts.

Please forgive the basic questions but can someone tell me the difference between the Resolute 710 and 711 (e.g., fit and denim weight)?  Also, do these two have the highest rises of the various models?

 

Finally, if I'm a 33 or 34 in the Fullcount 1101 or 0105 and a 35 in the Samurai 510, what size would you recommend in Resolute (Raw)?

im afraid a raw resolute is kinda rare

if you are 34 in a sam get a 34 or 36 710 they do stretch

i like my 710 a bit oversized so i went with a 36 one washed

710 is a late '6os model

711 is a '50s model

 

The 711 has a higher rise, a darker (and heavier?) denim.

I'm a w35 in the Samurai 710og and a w33 in Fullcount 1101 (prob could have gone w34)

I went for a raw w36 in Resolute 710. Good comfortable fit after initial wash. Haven't wore them yet though... Waiting for the weather to warm up!!
