  3. Yes- mi -> America Apparently from the phonetic use of the Chinese characters/kanji: 亜米利加 (the second character 米 is mi "rice") -> "a mi ri ka". For example: For England: "ei" 英, for Germany it's "doku" 独. Like 耳 mimi -> "ears" which is "selvedge".

  4. Warehouse/Denime released the new models on their IG (https://www.instagram.com/denime1988/) WW2 (as expected) 1947 (as expected) 1954 (only knew of 50s) and jackets for all these periods. Then two 66 models, in black and ecru. The jeans and jackets look more like Warehouse than former Denime (so Warehouse jeans with a Denime patch and hardware). I'll pass. Maybe, just maybe an expection for the WW2 jacket

  5. Shop descriptions... 😏 "This is a thorough reproduction of the XX model manufactured by DENIME at the time of its founding. The fabric was developed jointly with Kurabo Industries based on recipes from the time. The uneven thread is ring-spun from the same rice cotton used at the time, rope-dyed with a special indigo color, and finished with vegetable dyeing to create a deep texture. A certain DENIME-like color has been reproduced." I was close to ask you guys what "rice cotton" actually is. You can find it nearly on all shops that carry Denime because they all made a simple auto translation (also for some other brands). Actually, it simply means "US cotton" and if you don't translate the whole text but the words themselves, it becomes clear.

  6. @Cold Summer @yung_flynn - basically you guys are discussing and advocating a different cut for every pair of jeans made in a different waist size. Technically any maker can change a pattern but really that takes you into a custom build. Grading is what all makers normally do and that means they are creating the same style in another size - EVERY measurement point is changed, following a strict formula, to maintain the same fit and proportion in each new size.

  7. ONI 546 in 22oz with Kabuki selvedge. The last pair of heavy denim with contrast fades I had before moving towards lighter repro styles and looser fits in recent years. Truly a stunning denim. Probably a couple of years wear here and a few washes.

  9. Another lucky pick up of early ‘little e’ 2001s in amazing condition- barely worn. Gulls already deteriorating probably due to age and perhaps less robust paint than they used in later years. Lovely slimline tiger selvedge too.

  10. Aaaannnddd we have buttons. Had to order shorter rivets otherwise I'd have done those this evening. I think my problems with em last night was because they were too long so the post folded over instead of mushrooming out. Also added a picture of the cuffs because I love this charcoal weft. Crazy that these are wearable, didn't think I'd be this far this soon. @reallypeacedoff I used this guide for the buttons: https://imgur.com/gallery/I4wv5UI the buttons are from Dick's Denim on Etsy, and this is the guide he made for his buttons.

  15. I had tried to get some understand of the different denims and their nomenclature. I had a look again and I think these are basically the main fabrics: 1. Dead Stock Blue DSB/WWII it seems to be indicated by „(1000XX)“ There are two weights a) pink selvedge- 13.5oz. 7.5x7.5 examples: Lot 1001XX(1000XX)【1947MODEL】 b) pink selvedge- 14oz. 6.7x6.6 strong vertical fading examples: Lot S1003XX(1000XX)【1942MODEL】 S1001XX(1000XX) 1946MODEL Lot S1000XX 25th Anniversary S1001XX(1946) 2. New Denim/WWII Denim orange selvedge 6.7 x 6.6 (ca. 14oz, sometimes described as 14.5oz) example: Lot.DD-1003XX NEW DENIM 1946 MODEL 3. Banner/Three State 13.75oz 7x7 examples: Lot 1001XX Lot DD-1001XX(1947 MODEL) Lot 900XX 4. Memphis Cotton 14.5oz 6x6 examples: Lot 800XX(STANDARD) Lot 1001XX HEAVY OUNCE edit: Hmm, there seem to be two kinds of WWII denim: DSB and new denim. Not really sure. But the pink vs. orange selvedge seems to be the difference.

  17. What about the lovechild of Sean Penn and Gary Oldman in the 3rd photo? Is he an LVC model, a late 19th century futurist or a mid-20th century dude in an old jacket?

  23. Good afternoon! Finally, the DENIME Lot 224 jeans reached me. Size W32 L32. It's a shame that most Japanese manufacturers don't go beyond the L32. And it was immediately clear that the pants would be short. A few photos before shrinkage. They sat down delicately. Manually. The water temperature is ~ 35-40 Celsius. W/2 44,0 sm/ 41,5 sm FR 29,5 sm/ 27,5 sm RR 40,0 sm/ 37,0 sm Hip 56,0 sm/ 54,5 sm Up. tight 32,0 sm/ 30,5 sm Kn 23,5 sm/ 22,5 sm Lo 21,0 sm/ 20,0 sm Ins 89,0 sm/ 81,0 sm Outs 117,5 sm/ 108,5 sm That's an inch missing. The photos are not very good, the sun is not enough.

  24. Belafonte denim trousers. Got them last April and wore here and there in summer with more consecutive wear as the weather cooled. The interesting thing is the rubber boots fade that’s starting to appear. It’s interesting because I’m only wearing the boots when it’s wet and muddy for dog walk, so I’d say around 30 time for a 2 hour period each time? In the past two months. It’s interesting that it left such a noticeable mark. Anyways I like it a lot. I have them a wash after I took the picture. Will maybe update after they dry up if there are major differences

  25. Picked these up on eBay- thought they were Lot2000 but they are actually Lot9000 which I’ve not heard of before despite my geekery. Any experts got any info? They measure 32 in waist despite 35 tag, so I’m assuming they are a No.1 Tiger selvedge, and coin pocket is non selvedge. Roping on hem is lovely, and because they measure 30 in leg means a small single cuff for my height.
