  1. A long time ago I had a newly divorced guy ask me if his new matching denim jacket and jeans outfit would make women want to have sex with him and I didnt have the heart to tell him that while he may get more attention, the majority of it will be from other men who are into denim.

  2. ^Its true… a few months ago I was out w my partner, we were getting tacos at a late night truck in town, and the guy in line behind me (a tall, somewhat tough-looking man in an undeniably well-curated outfit) compliments my engineer boots. I turn and look at HIS boots and wow, can’t even remember what they were anymore but I don’t think I could hide the impression they made on me. We spoke about the construction of the soles and then about our pants and so on for a few minutes until it was our turn in line to order, and when we got our food and moved on my partner looked very thoughtful, then turned to me and said (paraphrasing), “wow, I’ve never had such an in depth conversation about my clothing before… not even with my sewing teacher… at first I thought he was flirting with you… is that what it’s like on your little forum?”

  3. Sufu’s always been ahead of the curve in terms of metrosexuaity, mutual male support group, your bum DOESNT look big in that, etc. In these times of anxious millennials and Gen-Zers, middle-aged men with no friends (not me, honestly…) and an uncertain future for our world, everyone needs their own Sufu or just to wear nice denim and feel the love.

  6. My body doesn’t handle heat well, so for the most part I’ve been slumming it. However in Poland where I’ve been visiting friends and family, the weather has been a mixed bag. Enjoying today with a couple of Tender pieces and a pair of Gustins that I breathed new life into by having 20 inches chopped off.

  11. I have various pairs of old Warehouse and Buzz Rickson's chinos which are good, but for "super lightweight" it has to be Orslow painter pants in their 9oz denim. Impeccable details, soft breathable denim with just the right level of texture and furriness. A bit hard to dress up, though, unless you were to make every other article of clothing exaggeratedly formal and defeat the purpose of wearing lightweight.

  12. Some progress on my 1108xx. These are such slow faders, about 6 months of regular wear and 3-4 washes, and they are still very dark. The fades are peaking through nicely, though.

  14. I'm a little late to the discussion, but I just wrapped up a trip to the beach and decided to use said travel plans as an excuse to purchase a pair of SP29K-M. Comparing to SP29-M, there are a few quality of life upgrades. Similar to P34-E, there are small patches of GoreTex that serve as reinforcement in high-stress areas. And similarly to P24A-E, there are loops on the interior of the shorts that you can hang them up with. In addition to the mesh pocket bags, there are also small drain holes on the lower cargo pockets that are far less effective at emptying liquid compared to the interior pockets, but still help make the shorts more suitable for swimming. Lastly, the (much lighter) fabric has a ripstop weave. The necessity of this is debatable, but a slight surprise as it doesn't show in photos. The negatives first: The excess length on the integrated belt is annoying in water. The retainer loop does not help much and while you can cram it into a pocket, it won't stay there for long. Maybe a minor nuisance that will affect some more than others, but this is my biggest complaint. Secondly, the pocket array. It's just overkill. I did find some use for it by being able to swim in the ocean with keys to a car (with no worry about loss) but no pair of swim trunks need all this storage. And when you're not swimming, storing any item larger or heavier than maybe wireless earbuds can be pretty uncomfortable for walking around or sitting. The positives: The fabric used on the "K" variant is much lighter than it is on SP29-M which makes for a much better pair of swim trunks but more importantly a better pair of shorts as well. Whether or not you like the metallic look or not will be up to you, but I'm indifferent and it's not too shiny in person. The shorter length is also much more summer appropriate and in my opinion, comfortable. Of course, they also look cool. So if you're searching for something to swim in, you can probably look elsewhere. But if you want a pair of summer shorts that can be used for swimming in a pinch, these are great. Especially when you can get them on sale from HBX for "only" $330 USD. Overall I'm pretty happy with my purchase and wish I had just skipped SP29s in SS22 and waited for these

  16. Doesn't seem like there's much activity in this thread but I wanted to share my Greasers that I've had since summer 2018. These are the 15oz Xinjiang cotton black marias. They were incredibly slow faders, but I think they've got a lot of character now. Love the left hand twill, it's made these super velvety soft. The crotch is mostly patches at this point. Also had to bring the waist in an inch. These have been my guinea pig for figuring out how to repair shit with my sewing machine. Love this brand though. Just bought a pair of Smokestacks in the 15oz crosshatch denim and I love the texture of them. Will post pictures of those when they get some fade.

  17. Looking very nice @DC2020 Rockets have been very helpful and chatty. Regarding sizing, they said "501XX(1947) has a front rise of 32cm and a rear rise of 42cm. Our company has made the back rise 1.5-2cm shallower than the 501XX(1947)." So it could be inferred Rockets have tweaked the measurements based on the vintage references they had in hand for fit purposes. Definitely the opposite end of back rise scale to Freewheelers which is markedly high - can't remember if they based theirs on a WW2 original - can anyone recall? Rockets also said they have previously done a 37 model using the same measurements as the WW2. They plan to have a run again. Pics are of their 37s - liking the denim

  19. Hey guys! New here, first post. Wanted to share my 50s that I've been wearing since October 2021. 33 washes, buncha repairs. They're at the stage where the thighs and knees seem to disintegrate more with every wash which doesn't bother me because I love patching them up. Thanks for lookin.

  21. @tooth My 220 and 221 pairs are both slightly too big in the waist still, so I followed your lead and just gave them both a long, hot soak and running through a tumble dry. Provided that this shrinks them to where I'm happy with the fit overall, I'll try to get some photos of both pairs up today.
