  1. After driving 350 miles from Brighton (that’s a long drive in the UK) up to the Lake District to visit my Dad yesterday, here's the view from his window of Bowscale. Just near the more famous Blencathra. It’s bloody cold too. Looked like this on 11th January though. Much prettier.

  3. So the first 5150s I posted were a little less than chart, so Simo wanted to replace them... hence take 2 The new pair arrived last Friday - given the anticipation, I forgot the date stamp pic... so here's the delivery confirmation date and time instead 😉 Top job by Simo who's a top bloke... lovely denim, really well sewn... much slimmer than my usual which will take some adjusting... I do lots of leg weights to protect my knees... so the reasonably svelt top block and waist are snug for me... hindsight being a wonderful thing, I should have gone 1-2 sizes bigger (anyone wants a swap, hit me up ) Raw fit pics 1st wash was cold machine, hang dry; wore for a few hours. Then I rolled the dice... 30C wash, stretched the waistband while wet (which gave me 1cm) then hung dry... Meanwhile we went for pizza... alas, featuring FW WW2 denim Final pics are after a 3 mile walk earlier... pleased to hear there's more stretch to come too as I'm going to need it

  5. Crap photos but I wore my pair yesterday playing golf at the oldest golf course in Texas (1899). Normally wouldn’t wear jeans on the course, but this is a casual 9 hole walking only muni course, no dress code and only $18. A few friends and I play here every month or so. Fun way to spend an afternoon.

  20. Apologies, I was not meaning to say that size to size they should be the same (30 in both are not the same measured size necessarily), just that the proportions for the true size are intended to be the same. It's the same pattern. That being said, I don't even know for sure what sizes I have. I think I have 13.7oz in 31 and SS in 32? Again, when you're playing a game of 1cm here or there on a measuring tape, you're playing to satisfy your own neurosis, not a distinguishable fit difference at five feet. I am not intending to devalue your desire to know those things and satisfy yourself, but the net result after three minutes of wear is nothing to anyone but you when discussing a completely wide legged relaxed fit. If you're wearing Iron Heart 666's, that 1 cm could mean the difference between maintaining an ability to continue your bloodline or not.

  23. My 311s arrived the day after I left the country for a few days so I didn't get them till Tuesday. Soaked and then washed at 30 degrees on Wednesday. Raw fit in first pic, post-wash in second (obviously). Fit is slightly slimmer than I anticipated in the leg but not too slim (I hope - thighs might get bigger again once I get over my patellar tendinitis). And I bought them to be a slim pair anyway. I think the waist will be spot on. If it stretches further than I'd like it won't matter too much cos I also went for a shortish inseam. Long term I see these as jeans for the summer.

  26. Thanks Charlie, That's similar to what i use.. a compact 2x piece 5.5', carp stalker rod, the bottom section extends out of the handle.. i bought it for the boy (as an easy to handle rod) when he was around 5 or 6yrs old but this is the rod i use 90% of the time.. it's perfect for river banks with lots of tree cover, you can fish areas inaccessible with a longer rod. The offspring hasn't been fishing for 5 or so years now.. he caught some fantastic fish but it was as though.. "i've done that now.. what's next" ..like he'd completed a playstation game There is a bridge in Bakewell over the river Wye, just behind the Bakewell Pudding Shop, folks will buy a pudding and they'll give you a couple of slices of stale bread for feeding the ducks.. massive trout congregate under the bridge, folks stand on the bridge and ball up a piece of bread in their hands and chuck it in the river for the trout.. it's like a feeding frenzy.. i could catch some absolute specimens there but the locals would be outraged!! When i caught that^ trout, i was fishing for pike using this roach shad ..i knew it wasn't a pike as soon as i'd hooked it but i had no clue what else it could be.. i didn't think there was anything large enough in there to take that bait.. i was amazed when i landed that trout

  27. Surprised Maynard hasn't made anything out of this yet 😉 Nice catch Neal. Reminds me of when l was a kid (11 or so) when my dad brought a poachers rod back from the States - basically a 1970's extendable rod, something you couldn't get here at the time - and we used to hang above the bridge in the nearby village just hooking brown trout mostly with ease before the old gamekeeper attempted to stop us. After a quick getaway we would get home and mum would roll her eyes at us before cooking them up. Yum.

  28. Samurai S140SXJ, two years of regular wear, many washes. Slubbiest jean I've ever owned and I love the texture and wild fades. My little barn loves the coarse feel almost as much as her favorite Mexican blanket. EDIT: Added cat with jeans.

  31. I have to say, loving these jeans so far. Sized it just right. There's plenty of room in the hips without dipping under the belt too badly. Stock room casual this morning doing grunt work.

  33. You and me both. They feel super wide for the first few hours then I'm like.. oh - this feels great. Whenever I wear anything other than my 0105SSW, they all feel so tight and rigid by comparison. Overnight I saw that Cultizm had an extra 15% off sale items so just picked up some 1101SSW for a mere $167(!) as well because the Super Smooth fabric is great for SoCal and so comfortable. Think they may replace current daily Warehouse's as this fabric is just magic.

  41. Checking in with pre/post and initial thoughts. I really like these jeans and cut. The roping is top notch. I’m still tripping out on the denim pockets bags It’s a weird feeling, but will only get better with wear. I didn’t get as much shrink in the waist as I wanted with the first wash, so I ran them through again as well as a trip through the dryer. Think we’re fully shrunk now - waist snug, but has loosened to what I was wanting and inseam hit requested post-shrink exactly. I ended up with some marbling with the initial soak/wash/hang dry that was probably intensified with the second wash/dryer. My typical machine wash/dry usually doesn’t marble like this, but it did this time. No worries - I’m choosing to see the squiggles as ‘freshly grated mozzarella’ for my pizza pants. Pre Post initial wash, hang dry

  42. Pardon the hasty work-restroom photo, I'll get some with better lighting later. Fit is what I was looking for, slimmer than I thought it'd be though. Hopefully the waist stretches back out 0.5-1 inch for comfort.
