After promising to not buy another pair before the WoM contest starts, my willpower broke. Stopped by SE Austin and grabbed a pair of the exclusive wide 34 cut. These feel like a proper pair of straight legged jeans compared to the XX's. My old XX's feel like a slim-straight cut, and the rise is just a bit too low for my tastes these days. So this 34 cut is much more my speed. The Boncoura denim is still great and has one of my favorite selvedge IDs. Also the 34 cut is a few inches longer, so I can wear these uncuffed or with a small double cuff. Might give them another wash to see if there's any residual shrink. It's kinda crazy to think that I bought the XX's 7 years ago.10 points

Here you go... I didn't have a plan on what to wear the vest with... and after wearing it all weekend, I still don't ... my conclusion is just throw it on and wear it with whatever. I've been to the cinema in it, nearly losing a chocolate bar in one of the ten pockets, gone for kebabs in it and lounged on the sofa watching the footy in it. Multi-functional. I'll also refrain from calling it a vest... I think the 'sleeveless outing coat' is, in fact, a more appropriate description given the style, weight and voluminous fit... at least in the size I got, which is my usual Ooe size The denim and shape are still settling down so it hasn't draped yet... I can see it coming in especially useful when out and about on holidays8 points

The pics aren't great... but the Amoskeag repro denim surely is 😊... roll on the jacket and the jeans 😉 Pics 1-3 indoors with the light on... 4-6 outdoors in poor light I took a size 44 rather than opt for (or try my sizing luck with) a snugger fit... so it's pretty voluminous, with many pockets (like CSL has opined already) and the storage space of a modest backpack... I like!!7 points

For those who may want some insight as to how a brand like Rick Owens ended up at Self Edge, this is a 5 year old article written by Derek Guy about it (featuring @sidneylo https://putthison.com/how-rick-owens-landed-at-self-edge/4 points

This looks like it could get lively!! I'll be out on a limb here... but I think one of the RO models is quite nice (the low-top Austin has) I know the fella who runs the allotment store which is stacked with RO stuff... and said hello to him once in there... and the RO stuff just isn't for me... it's not gothic enough 😀 ... joking aside, I definitely wouldn't go looking for it. That said, each to their own. Would I have noticed the pumps if SE hadn't advertised them? No. But let's face it many thousands of folks going back years wouldn't have originally noticed loads of nice stuff if SE hadn't set up shop and advertised it... so respect due for that imo3 points

If you like them, go for it.. i'm not giving you shit about your taste in footwear.. personally, i think they look hideous and most folks have the ability to make them look even worse..(present company exceped) i thought the same with Mister Freedom, he has a handful of nice pieces but most of it looked cartoonish and more often than not, worn badly by people who thought they looked dope just because they were wearing MF. If they wasn't Rick Owens, if they wasn't sold a Self Edge would you still have bought a similar looking pair of sneakers?3 points

@Maynard Friedman yes that's much about it. Looking at the photos I agree that the fit look great. As soon as I move or do anything in it it just feels restrictive and too short. I've given it 15 years, maybe I can keep it for the kids or something 😅. Or I'll wait another 15 years and I might like the fit2 points

@MJF9, looks great! Would love to see it with an Oxford and colorful Shetland. Give a bright, contrasted background in both color and texture.2 points

Here's a weekend denim task.. (for the perpetually bored) let's discover Denim Pi or Dπ as i've just coined it.. Find a pair of jeans which fit nicely around your waist and measure them BiG style For me thats 43cm Now measure around your waist where those jeans fit.. for me thats 87cm Work out the factor by dividing 87 into 43 = 2.023 I'm going to cauiously call this number Dπ (allowing .1 for error) Peer review and prove me right or wrong2 points
