Finally got a pair of 129 dip dyed. Can't wait to wear them every day.

Cool hand, yep, that's right- the shirts are all made from the same custom blue-line English woven selvage calico, it's just the dyeing that's different.

I posted some very quick photos of these a while ago, but I've just been sent a proper set. This is a small collection made by one of the teams from the Menswear, Knitwear, and Fashion Design with Marketing courses at Central St Martins which I have the pleasure of tutoring each year. This was a 2nd Year project, done over just 4 weeks. The pieces themselves were amazing, and these photos really bring out the best of them:

That actually looks really great! I love how baggy they're going with the lower half. Those heavy, almost waffle knit, looking textured trousers look particularly incredible!

^I agree! The knits are amazing, and the contrast orange on the cuffs really sets off the indigo (real indigo, so they'll fade like jeans).

 

Back in April I threw a pair of woad dyed reverse twill strap back jeans up onto the roof of my new studio. We're on a south-facing slope, so I hoped they'd fade, but the results are way more pronounced than I'd expected:

 

 

 

I'll give them a good thorough wash then post up some detail photos. Not for everyone, but I think they look pretty incredible, actually. There are images in the Jeans of the Old West book of garments that were used to stuff holes in roofs, or patch over draughty walls- this is the same effect

Luckily, I have a girlfriend who buys me awesome birthday gifts!

 

Here is the latest, Tender 204 belt in brown. Unfortunately the size 3 seems to fit a bit too small. In exchanging emails with William, what a fantastic help he's been (honestly), we both agree that the belt should stretch over time. My only concern, is that a bit of stretch won't be enough. That being said, I can't seem to find a size 4 in brown ANYWHERE, and if any of you have an idea where I might be able to, please share.

 

A few pictures here, what do you guys think? I personally think it looks a bit awkward as it sits now:

Keep in mind that I never tuck my shirt in, and did so for the sake of these photos.

 

Maybe I should exchange for a 4 in tan?

^^happy to help by email- just want to make sure you get the belt that's right for you! For what it's worth, I agree with Sporty, and I think with a couple of weeks of wear the leather'll settle down on the second hole and it'll be comfy, without having too much overlap. A size up will give you two extra holes, but that'll put the tucked-in end of the belt way past your belt loop, over your left pocket.

 

In other news, I'm doing an Illustration project at the University of Westminster at the moment, and ran into an ex-student and ex-intern, Rob Newman, who's finishing up his degree and doing some very interesting stuff. He was wearing his 2-year old 130s, worn from raw:

I picked up a pair a type 129s from delstore last week and the owner told me that they are about 14oz (they certainly feel like it) but it seems that most tender jeans are 17oz after shrinking. Does anyone know when Tender did 14oz ones? maybe just for Asia/Japan?

^^Thank you! To answer your question, the denim's all the same, and it is indeed ~17oz after shrinking or dyeing. Some other brands' heavy denim feels bulkier if it has extra slubby yarn, but Tender denim has a relatively smooth yarn so doesn't feel as coarse as others. I hope that helps- please let me know if you have any other questions. And we'd love to see fit pics!

following up on the photo of Rob's jeans, above, here's another Westminster student- Dan McKinley's straight cut trews with phone pocket. These are rinsed and he's only just started wearing them:

 

 

 

And then a lot further on I just got this beautiful photo from Understudy in Calgary AB. Woad 129s after 1.5 years with minimal washing. These are some of the best looking I've seen:

I've just been sent some photos from a very good customer and great friend of the brand, who has done some logwood dyeing himself, onto an ecru pair of 138s:

Hey that's really cool. I've been dinging around with leather crafts and am always interested in new projects. It makes Christmas easier lol. How did you get that 2nd ring to stay? Are the spots around it stitched down, or is it glue?

^thanks! It's loose between where the buckle is stitched on, and the end where the spring bar fits, which sounds counterintuitive, but when it's on the pressure of your wrist holds it in one place and it works nicely. Here's the back view:

I've been lagging on here and meaning to show a project William helped me out with. I was really interested in the printers cotton 460 shirt/jacket but being 6'4" it was a little to short for me. So I got some extra fabric and button and added about 4" in length. I knew there would be a big seam across the jacket, but I didn't mind. It's not the best of photos but gives you an idea of what was done. I gave it a few washes and the extra fabric has the same look as the rest of the jacket now. The people who altered the jacket were great with details of the extra fabric making sure they lined up the guide lines, etc. They also had to completely remove the bottom two pockets and attach them lower as to cover some of the seam.

Flicking through the AW 2014 lookbook here: http://madebytender.com/?cat=19. One of the shots shows what looks very much like that jumper in woad, folded below a cream version. But only Mr Kroll could confirm who took that model. I do know I've not seen it in any of the UK retailers that stock the brand.
