my samurai19oz 710xx

worn everyday since august 12th

hand wash on the 12th of every month (3 so far..)

so about 9 months now, i feel i got almost no fades this winter.

still worn every day since august 12th, washed whenever i felt like, no more then once a month.

had to repair the back pocket, hand sewed the corner and put a patch on the inside, where i keep my cell phone and chap stick. can't really tell in the picture.

taken in daylight, almost exact color in person.

Samurai S0500XX 2 months post wash

I'm heading back to BiG to pick up a new pair of raw denim in the next 2 weeks or so and I was wondering if I could get some advice. I've read the majority of the thread and I've found some conflicting opinions/advice, I'm currently looking at the S710xx and S0500xx. For the 710 the general opinion seems to be true to size and if so the lot 10 shrinks from tag and lot 11 shrinks to tag, is that correct? I sag my jeans slightly below the waist and the measurement there is 34 or so, so what size would I go with in each lot (I want to be prepared in the event they only have one lot or the other)? For lot 10's is the shrinkage in the waist about an inch? For lot 11's are the waists an inch bigger than tagged?

For the S0500 is the general opinion to size down 1 or go true to size? I heard the whole lot sizing issue only occurs on the 710s so I'm assuming these all fit the same. I find Samurai's sizing somewhat confusing as I'm coming from APC NS and Skull 5010xx, so any advice you guys could offer would be great. I don't want to go into BiG without a clue of what size to buy, I'd rather have a reference and adjust my size from it if need be.

I'm 6'1 and 165lbs, thighs are normal size but calves are large in comparison due to sports and such, if any of that information helps. I'm hoping for a slim straight type fit. Thanks in advance for any advice.

you sound like you have most of the general sizing knowledge that has been posted on the thread. i would suggest trying on the different sizes at BIG when you are there. id suggest the 710s since you are looking for a slimmer fit, but its going to depend on what your preference is

Those look pretty good on you and I'm looking for a similar fit so I guess I'll start with a 32 and go from there. I'm guessing those are lot 11 S710xx? Can you comment on how much they shrunk during the hot soak/wash? I feel like they would shrink too much and obviously sammies don't have the infamous stretching properties of APCs, but anything you could share from your experiences with them would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for your help.

love the denim but wish the hem and calf area was a little slimmer. pre soak measurements were 8.5 instead of 8.25 that was shown online. What do you guys think? does it look too flared?

^^Excellent fit both cuffed and un-cuffed trailer36 - Double cuff may be a bit much. The 710's would have gotten you a slimmer look - but the 500's look great on you - not much flare at all. Keep us updated on the progress. +rep.

i'm working on a pair of jeans right now with a bigger-than-desired hem also. you'll get used to it. they'll actually settle pretty slim after some wear & washes. strange shrink-to-fit denim, it is. ahaugh. ahaugh. use the force of the warshing machine.

thanks for the reps. yeah, i was going to go with the 710 in the 15oz texas cotton like the 0500 but got some advice that the thigh was too slim for my liking. i have 24.5" thighs and a 32" waist so I wanted a pair of jeans that actually fit in the waist without really needing a belt. the 0500's fit the bill and i really like the fit and i hope the calves shrink just a tad.

thanks. at least 5 washes. All are machine except the last one because somebody else was washing their clothes in it so I just washed them in the bathtub.
