I don't know if it's necessarily the tongue though. I just think that the shoes don't work well with the rest of your outfit (your flannel shirt in particular). Maybe if you swapped the flannel with a plain black tee then your outfit would look better (even if you decided to keep the tongues of your "kicks" out).

I see how you feel about that. The area has changed a lot throughout the years, for the better and the worse. They had a bunch of neighborhoods and boroughs. I wouldn't be surprised if they had Williamsburg. But once I saw the Lower East Side fitted, I just had to have it since you rarely see much items rep a small area like the l.e.s. without looking gaudy.
