Denim World Championship - SuFu Division

I love Nemo's pair and that's definitely my kind of look, however I sense a few disparaging remarks about the rarely washed, high contrast pairs. There's nothing artificial about them in my book, as long as they honestly reflect the wearer's lifestyle and wear/washing regimen. Just because there are washes out there intended to make jeans resemble this aesthetic (often done badly) the real deal shouldn't be tarred with the same brush. I think some of the BiG contests (Warehouse, Full Count) weren't necessarily dominated by the contrast fade brigade, but perhaps my memory fails me.

Controlled mini-rant over. As you were peeps...

At least his pair is unique as the washing Routine & choice of brand is pretty unique...nothing against the heavyweight stuff, but we've seen two HDC already - it would be cool if this competition (that allows for such nice vintage fades on normal weight denim) would feature something that only this open (minded) contest can produce.

For me, the ideal winning pair is:

- very well worn

- washed, as they're clothes

- has a unique appeal & character that sets them apart from others

- filled with cool Details (like the coinpocket roping)

- in good shape & cared for

I back this 100%

as in the past we disagree on these topics, it's okay.

so, of course, i really feel the urge to give the owner of that place an old fashioned "Sonderbehandlung", just so he knows what this antiques are about...

sickens me to the bones, especially as i am german..

March 12, 2016

Hello hello,

Here's my March update, it took me this long to even since i posted early February to find time to snap proper photos and get them posted, as i sit here typing this I'm thinking of all the stuff i want to study haha.

Anyways, my set has been really cool, I've been rocking my pants daily and at least one of my tops everyday as well. My Iron heart shirt/jacket has been getting most of the wears as I want to spend some time with it because it's a kick ass jacket/shirt.

My pants have been on the brink of ripping from the crotch down but i've been keeping it at a stand still with some hand repairs, but i will be sending them to rain in Portland soon for a proper repair.

First up, my samurai jacket :)

I love this jacket but this is one of my favorite details. The shoulders are fading from my backpack straps and the collar is coming out too

Here are some "bonus" photos

For whatever reason my phone camera is pretty exceptional when the subject is farther that 4 feet away but when im too close it tends to bug out. As a result these photos are a bit bright and arent the best representation of its color.

I anchored my red tab down by running thread through the fold ^_^

The way the pocket flaps are fading due to the pocket pushing up is one of my personal favorites

Next up My Iron Heart Shirt/Jacket monstrosity thingy

To be honest I personally like this peice more than my sammy jacket simply because of a couple of things:

-it has hand pockets which makes my life soooooooo much easier through out the day

-I love the color and the honey combs are super fun to look at especially around the wrists

-And the way it fits me makes me feel pretty damn good hahaha

But who knows maybe i'll start wearing my sammy jacket more in the future. I've been back and forth between both.

It's hard to capture the progression on these but due to the lighting (overcast) i think this is my best shoot yet.

The color is a bit weird in this photo but i really dig the way the border of the pockets are puckering and doing some roping-like stuff

The roping on the shoulders is probably due to my backpack too :)

One of my favorite details on this pair is how one of my whiskers extends all the way around and lines up with the IH arcuates on both sides

We're spending the week in Barcelona...suddenly spring is here, so it's time to bring back both HDC pieces. IHxVS Type I & WH 800.

The museum of contemporary art. Also a great place for skaters and stoners.

An old monastery. There were orange trees in full bloom - it is the most beautiful smell I've ever encountered.

I don't disagree, it's just one of those things; look at all the Japanese brands that use swastikas and a straight up Nazi imagery. Anyways, a topic for the blunders thread.

So it was literally the first sunny day during last 6 months and I decided to go for some updates : )

Big John R008, 10 months. Nothing special about care: casual use, washing machine when needed @ 30 degrees. No repairs so far, happy with Big John guys craftsmanship so much : )

great photos max, it's always cool to see your trips.

do you have a thing for cathedrals?

Thanks mate. Yes, indeed I have. My dad is very passionate about all kinds of art, the renaissance and middle ages being his special interest. So I "had" to visit every church or old building since I was a kid and ended up enjoying it a lot. (My girlfriend is an art & history teacher, so it continues).

Had a mini vacation in Nelson's Bay, NSW with some friends and their new puppy. Safe to say I forgot to vigorously apply sunscreen and paid the price with the worst sunburn I've had since i was a kid. Unfortunately no denim pics in this update, but the flat heads were worn for most of the weekend!

Photo dump, still getting used to manually focusing with the vintage prime i have on my Sony A7, thanks to Volvo for some tips! A moving puppy proved to be pretty damn challenging.
