here we go...

the contest it's over but i still have a sweet update for you guys. I know you've all been missing the volvo action...of course!

Yesterday I've took delivery of a cool parcel sent all the way from London by none other than sir Paul!

I've been looking around for a while for a copy of his denim book, which is out of print at the moment. I've recently found a good copy and Paul kindly agreed to sign it off for me.

the parcel included also a beautiful present for my daughter, who - unexpectedly for a young gal - loves to play with car models (and that makes her dad happy and proud!). A Stahlberg Volvo 122 Amazon model!

Here it is, aside my Stahlberg volvo 244..

 

 

we've been road testing the 122 alongside the 244 around the house this evening and I am surprised to say that the 122 is much faster haha!

I love it so much I'm seriously thinking of buying a second one, so I have a dark one when this one starts fading. It's perfect, my favourite denim jacket ever I think.

They're great Gnomes and I'd highly recommend it although I have yet to wear mine (after having it for a year and a half)! It's quite similar to another jacket I have - an LVC shawl collar in blue cotton twill so my plan was to wear it when that's knackered although I may bring it out when the weather is consistently warmer this spring, i.e. now.

I hardly doubt he would do that. If I understand how he thinks he'd simply won't do this as the original didn't have it!

there is a blanket lined jacket coming for this upcoming fall/winter season of 2016.  like you i love blanket lined denim jackets and so i asked him one day and hajime said that he is thinking of making one.  i can't wait for this!!!!

I'll try the 60's later but I assume they'll be exactly like my veteran 60's pair except from the different label...

That's good news Volvo. Be sure to wear it only with dark jeans rather than a light faded pair as the indigo will bleed and you don't want your trousers covered in seaman stains!

i am pretty happy with the tcb version.  lots of evo after only a few washes.  i feel so cozy when wearing the seamen jumper.

Aye, we were hoping for a 30's pair but he found a pair of vintage 20's so I think that's what we're going with. Although I wouldn't mind Inoue finding a WW2 pair either before we hit it off.

 

World Tour would be fun, I'd do a leg if it was the proper size.

as Bobbo already said the original plan was to ask hajime to make a 1930's cinchback style jean but meanwhile he found a 1922 501 in good conditions so he's going to reproduce that instead of the 30's.

A world tour jean would be a great idea. i step out of it as I am a 36 and I guess a tour pant would be more weareable and enjoyable by most people in a more common size (32? 34?).

hajime plans to launch his TCB 20's in october 2016. The contest should start in january 2018, at the end of the OOE contest, at least that was what myself and Aho agreed upon, just to let some people have the chance of playing both.. In the OOE contest thread there's been some talk about organising another OOE contest right after this one or even while this OOE contest is running though. let's see how that thing evolves...

the most reasonable thing i could come up with is asking to Hajime if he's up to let us have a 20's pair right after the jeans are released (or maybe even a sample before release???), so that some of the sufu guys can guinea pig them, and we can all whet our palates waiting for the tcb 20's contest to start.

Dunno if Hajime is willing to come up with another one off pair...I doubt it honestly. I know he's taking time to make the best 20's repro he could produce, and he's going to use a new denim for it.

let's see if we can find 12 guys on a size 32 or 34, and I'll be happy to talk to Hajime about it, unless someone else wants to do it! Actually Bobbo is going to visit the TCB factory so he might be the main man on this. woulnd't be great to let start a world tour directly from the factory in Kurashiki?

It would be supercool to kick off a tour like that. I'm going there pretty soon though, 23rd of july by the looks of it. And then we'd have to go with a 32 or 33 if it's gonna work for me. + I'm still in Japan for 2 more weeks after that.

 

Edit: No need to hassle Hajime about finding another repro model. But if he do find one himself, then I won't complain, haha.
