TCB: happy jeans contest

Good luck with the weight loss Cold Storage. These jeans are worth the struggle!

Here's a few random shots from over the weekend...

The work week ended very well for me and I was in the mood for celebrating. I went a little overboard with ordering at the Korean restaurant I hit with a friend and this spicy chicken was after we'd already had bbq pork and a seafood pajeon. Soju doing the thinking!

I started an easy Saturday morning with some reading. The Wind Up Bird Chronicle was the first Murakami novel I read about 6 years ago and it really caught me at the right time, right place in my life and had a huge impact on me. I've been terrified of re-reading it only to find it hasn't held up! Thankfully, it's still a brilliant book and a pleasure to return to. Coffee was a delicious Panama Bourbon made with my Hario V60, for the coffee nerds...

The wife and I then went out for brunch and some local Christmas shopping. Here's my weirdly de-constructed all day breakfast at Common Ground cafe:

We passed Goldyard, a nice little select shop that sells TCB and Fullcount:

And Kau Kee, a famous beef brisket noodle shop that's about ninety years old and forever swamped by tourists. It's not really worth the mega queue that stretches down the street:

Hong Kong wheels:

Sadly, I failed to take pictures of either the delicious Okinawa cuisine I enjoyed on Saturday night, nor the dismal performance of Tottenham Hotspur that I watched but both definitely happened!

I'm finally getting some noticeable evo on the back pockets and lap of the jeans now. Can't capture it with a phone cam but hopefully soon. Still enjoying the supremely comfortable cut in the meantime though. Even my Fullcount and Canes feel a little restrictive compared to these beauts.

Great updates y'all!

A couple of shots from my weekend in Manchester:

The first night we went to a festival called the Whisky Sessions. Mainly to watch Matthew and the Atlas that we discovered just a few weeks before departure. It was set in a warehouse not far from Old Trafford and the acoustic in the building was excellent. Matthew and the Atlas was excellent as well and we were two happy campers, albeit drinking shitty Amstel beer.

Me being a United fan we stopped by Old Trafford before heading back into town for some pictures.

A "homage" to the great Matt Busby

The next day we travelled to Liverpool and watched Everton take on West Ham. The game wasn't that great but it was nice to see Leon Osman score the winning goal in his 400th appearance for Everton.

Later that night we went to the Brew Dog bar in Manchester. I think the blurry picutes represents the beer drinking bonanza quite well.

Paradox was the highlight of the evening. One of the better beers I've ever tried. The hardcore IPA on tap also deserves a mention - it was a few notches up from buying it in a bottle.

I was amused when I found out the bathroom walls at Brew Dog was cramped with cut outs from comic books

Such a great weekend. And tonight I'm gonna have myself a Brew Dog Tokyo while watching United take on Southampton, partly because I miss the Brew Dog bar and partly as a substitute for a pair of Denime Tokyo edition.

Had to breakout another bottle here at home in Moscow...

More a dessert than a beer, if it wasn't for the alcohol and headache afterwards!

On the same level as most liqueurs...

gnomes, when I dig a pair, it's all I wear for at least 6-8 months. The only times I've worn other pairs have been on wash days and after I got my side blasted and needed a lower rise fit while the tattoo was healing.

Foxy, we got our first snow here in NY yesterday as well. While I wouldn't describe it as proper, it laid enough on the Williamsburg Bridge for me to slide out on my ride home last night. My hip is aching.

Wow, those are looking really good Jared_Lee! I guess you're still riding your bike wearing these like you did your Fullcount? Your jeans are quite a bit ahead of mine in terms of whiskers (and I've been wearing near-daily), so I figure this might be the case.

Love that snow photo Foxy. It's still not really even jacket weather here and I have a hunch I'm gonna feel the cold big time when I get back to the UK next week...

good job Jared_Lee!  even though I wear my pair at least 5 days a week, I've almost no whiskers on my pair so far. I should start biking. volvo driving doens't seem to fade as quickly ahaha!

Sugar Mountain, I am indeed still commuting on my bike. That's how took a spill on the icy snow going over the bridge Thursday. The hip's feeling a bit better today, so nothing to worry about.

Bobbo, I'd say the color is somewhat comparable to Warehouse on the body of the jeans, but the whiskering is going through gradual shades of blue as opposed to my Warehouse that crocked straight down to the cotton more quickly. I can only speak for the fabric used on the 1001 in 2012. But I believe that was the standard banner denim.

Greetings from Germany!

I'm here again and I believe this the 10th trip to Germany for 2014. Here's a pic from tonight's venue, the beautiful Castle in Ettlingen near Karlsruhe.

Some place..

I wish I still had my camera with me, this room would have been an incredible place to take a photo with a fisheye lens.

This was the situation outside my office on Friday before we left for another weekend in Berlin...

Had quite a busy schedule for Saturday in Berlin - our only chance for Xmas shopping this year.

Early on a grey morning in our neighborhood.

Just got the car out to do some grocery shopping...

...and parked it right on the side of Passionskirche - a site of some lovely concerts in the past.

Managed to squeeze in a coffee and bagel before further shopping...

...at least that's what it feels, sounds and looks like when you sit in such a Volvo! It gets me every time.

Went to Winterfeldt Platz for the green market, but here is the Fernmeldeamt...

...a building from 1922 and 1929 with a front in the style of Backsteinexpressionismus.

When we walked by this beauty I had to stop and take a pic...

The rest of the day ended up being a Xmas shopping battle - not a nice sight.

Great post Foxy! Your P1800 is killing me! One of the most special Volvo ever made. Though my dream Volvo is still this:

E676E5E7-2BDF-4133-A90F-0340D7D033A0_zps

I hope to buy one in Sweden and drive it back home, maybe when I turn 40, as a self indulgent present!

That was easy - only 2 separate words...

Until recently we had this law text in place and it was called:

Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz

It was considered a proper word as it appeared in print - in theory it is possible to create words of indefinite length in German language.
