The X020 uses a new denim from Pure Blue Japan in the popular slim tapered fit. At first glance it appears similar to the double indigo (X007/X009/X012). Here the weft is dyed first in Cobalt blue then rope dyed in indigo. With wear the cobalt begins to reveal itself through the indigo. They have called it "pop-up denim". Like any well worn jeans the cobalt blue will fade in some areas revealing the pre-dyed weft yarns.

Another way it differs is the texture of the denim. PBJ is known for its slubby weave but this denim has a more even handle. The final image is an example of how this denim could develop with some pretty solid wear.

The chain stitched waistband, hem and top block side seams use a cobalt blue thread. Otherwise this jean has indigo tonal stitching.

(James is 188cm tall and weighs 83kg. He is wearing a 33w)

Along with the re-stock of 400T jeans we have added a denim jacket, shirts, and Polos to our UES Denim range.

This understated brand is becoming more known outside of Japan for its excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail.

It has been doing this since 1994.

The Type lll denim jacket is made from the same signature 14.9 oz denim as the jeans. This is one of the best fitting denim jackets I have seen. It has a slightly lower hem and a slim fitting taper. Although unsanforized, it has been washed once so there is no further shrinkage. The one wash process brings out the rich indigo hues associated with their denim.

The Wabash shirt is a custom woven 8 oz selvedge fabric that has been rope dyed. With wear the indigo will fade.

It is a slim fitting shirt with Corozo Buttons. It has been washed and will not shrink

The button down Oxford shirt is made from a 100% cotton selvedge fabric with a single needle construction.

The Polo shirts come in Turquoise and a greyish "navy". They are both slim fitting.

We have also stocked a range of UES caps from the Wabash hunting capThe Hickory Work cap and the Delivery Boy denim cap.

After visiting the store today I feel I could write an essay on the quality of service I received and how good the shop looks and feels.

I can honestly say it was the friendliest, most engaging shopping experience I have ever had.

The UK really does now have a world class denim bricks and mortar store on our doorstep and we need to appreciate and support it, Danny and Jr's knowledge and enthusiasm for their products will make Rivet and Hide a major player on the denim scene and us guys in the UK need to get behind them.

As for the goods.. I copped some railcars, wanted some cone mills and a Mister Freedom T.

On a side note while I was in London I also wanted to grab a Loopwheel sweatshirt  so I went in to another well known denim store on the other side of London, after being in there for nearly 10 mins and looking at about 10 different navy sweats (so I was clearly not just browsing) none of the group at the back of the shop deemed it important enough to break from their conversation to say hello or offer assistance so I decided to keep my well earned cash to myself for now and by elsewhere....

I bought a Flat Head border striped t-shirt on Friday. Beautiful shop and top-notch, friendly, knowledgeable customer service from Junior and Danny. As a large Austrian gentleman once said, "I'll be back..."

PS - I had a quick browse and liked the look of the UES wabash shirt and hunting cap.

Placed an order online at 11.30 (just caught the discount - cheers guys!) received immediate confirmation and a UPS tracking number by 13:10.

Retailers take note - THAT is how you fulfil web orders....

Really looking forward to receiving my Sl 120x. Danny I'm sure they will be great, the measurements look bang on. I will probably need them hemmed (want to wear them for a bit first) and am in London next Thursday. I'll pop in for a browse and a possible hem then if that's ok. As these are sanforised I'm assuming a soak/wash isn't a priority?

One more thing, are you planning to restock the black bridle leather belt in small?

The first flannel of the year is here. The indigo/beige Norris is from the Indigofera permanent collection.

It's one of their classic pieces. 100% cotton selvedge flannel from Japan. It is a regular fit.

I'm going to have to say that is the nicest colour scheme on a flannel I have seen.. Seems as though they run quite large?

Indigofera tops are for those with bigger frames or who prefer a looser fit. That said, Pontus ( the main designer) is looking at some slimmer silhouettes in the future.

Certain pieces sum up the essence of The Flat Head and its absolute love of 1950s Americana.

The Surfer shirt  takes you to halcyon days of teenage summers or maybe back to some other place living the life to full.

The shirt is presented in its own custom box. It is 100% cotton,  features felled seam sewing construction, coconut buttons and is rinsed so will not shrink

The Madras Check Shirt features a straight warp and uneven weft thread. The pattern originates from this ancient Indian city.

It is 100% cotton and shuttle loomed with Universal snap buttons and felled seam.

You cannot beat the quality of TFH heavyweight plain tees with their triple stitched collars and tubular construction. Now available in light red (orange to some) and blue.

And what pray tell is "straight flamas", for those of us not "down" with the "lingo" of the kids of today.

It started as an inside thing with SELA employees calling things FLAMAS ("flames" in Spanish) when said product met a certain high level of awesomeness.  Then it turned into "Straight Flamas", really tying the entire saying together, making it usable on the internet and in real life.  Recently we've seen this phenomenon move up the coast to San Francisco and also Portland, but as it moves away from the Mexican border it's been incorrectly stated as "Straight Flames".

Self Edge even scores a collaboration with the Spanish language
