The first pair of jeans that Rivet & Hide sold was to our launch photographer and friend Jean-Luc Brouard. He decided it was time to go heavy and craved some 21 oz. denim from Okayama. He has since purchased a second pair of Steel Feather SF0121. He sized down to a 30w nagged by his girlfriend who doesn't quite get extreme sagging. This is the first pair. Worn off and on for 18 months.

Old Empire Motorcycles is based in the Norfolk countryside. They make great bikes influenced by British automotive, maritime and aeronautic history. They just released their newest bike The Bulldog and we helped them out with some of our shirts and denim for the launch shoot. It was a glorious autumn day and the bikes and the clothes from The Flat Head and Indigofera looked pretty hot together. Here are some of the shots.

Just wanted to thank everybody at Rivet & Hide for their outstanding customer service. My mom (I mean, "Santa") bought me two FH shirts for Chritmas and said she was blown away by how great the shop was to deal with. Here's a couple pics of the goods, thanks again guys for helping to make Christmas morning so great.

Those who like us love 3sixteen's clean and minimalist designs should check out these latest arrivals: The 30 BSP jean, the waxed stadium jackets, and the heavyweight fleece hoodies

The jackets use a 6.25 oz.  waxed cotton from USA, include a diamond quilted lining, a heavyweight gunmetal zipper and come in blue and black. The waxy fabric will break in and age with wear like nothing else. The slim/modern fit but can be sized up for a more relaxed look.

The hoodies come in heather grey and black, are made from a heavyweight cotton fleece, have a 3 piece hood construction, and include rawhide leather drawstrings with a zipper pull. The regular fit can be sized down for a slimmer silhouette.

The 30BSP is made from a 15.5 oz  sanforized Japanese selvedge (Kuroki). It is a good fit for those who need a little extra room in the thigh and a higher back rise compared with the other fits. The thick natural tan leather patch is by Tanner Goods.

We just received the latest jean to join our ever expanding range of The Flat Head Denim.

The 1001 uses an unsanforized 16 oz. denim and comes in a slim straight silhouette. "Knee tight" promises great fades whilst the leg opening will suit all types of footwear.

If you have always fancied some Flat Head jeans with a longer inseam this could be the pair. 38" raw shrinking to a minimum of 35.5". This denim has less shrinkage than the Pioneer denim. It can be sized down for a slimmer fit and TTS for the straighter look.

Although our primary focus is on Japanese denim, and those who work with it, we don't stop looking out for other talented people closer to home.

Karen Henriksen is a London based British milener making hats and caps at Cockpit Arts in London. Her unique take on the classic cap joins our range of accessories to complement the denim we carry.

Anyone with a love of mid-century clothes and design should pick up a copy of the latest edition of Men's File. Printed for the first time in Japan, it comes in a double edition collaboration with Clutch Magazine.

It continues its focus on style, cars and motorcycles. The writing and photography are both, as always, exemplary.

The X012 from Railcar Fine Goods comes in the popular Spikes fit with just a little extra room in the thigh than previous models. It includes some more added details such as hidden back pocket rivets, back and coin pocket interior lining and triple stitched seat and belt loop seams.  It uses the popular 14.75 ounce red line selvedge Cone Mills denim. The last 2 images show how this denim ages. It was used for the X002 jean before the fit and construction details were updated.

James modelled The Flat Head Speck flannel with these jeans. This is a medium weight very soft fabric that can be worn most months of the year.

The 7002w Sawtooth denim shirt is now in now in our The Flat Head collection. Made of 12 oz rope-dyed selvedge denim. It oozes with both texture and character. This shirt is designed with broad shoulders and tapers to a slim fit. You need to size up. If you usually wear a 42 you'll need a 44. We have sizes 38-44. Size 46 will be here soon.

Once again The Flat Head raises the bar with the ZP-10 Loopwheeled Zip Parka. It is both substantial and extremely soft in equal measure.

Like all their fabrics it needs to be worn and felt with bare hands to truly appreciate.

We have added black to our range of THC heaveyweight t shirts and this season's Over Time tee to the collection. The triple-stitched collars never lose their shape. These t shirts stand the test of time.

I actually had a different experience, so I figured I throw my 2 cents in: I wear a 42 western flannel, a 42 T, and I ordered a 44 in the sawtooth, but it was way too big and I exchanged it for a 42. The 42 fits me perfectly, a little slimmer in the waist than my flannels (and definitely as slim as I'd ever want to go) but I love the fit. Here's a comparison:

All 42, although the T is a pre-wash fit pic. Hope this helps anybody looking at the sawtooth, I personally love mine and alternate between wearing it as an overshirt and a shirt - its the perfect middle weight to do both.

whats your p2p and shoulder size?

That's interesting, Skulandski. Both me, Junior and now 2 regular customers have had to size up on this shirt. You look quite muscular in the chest & back which surprises me even more.

Those that go TTS in the sawtooth tend to be pretty slender in that area.

Anyway, glad it worked out for you.

Do you mean measuring my body, or measuring a shirt that fits well?

Hmm, I'm surprised to see the need to size up has been so unanimous, I guess I'm the anomaly here. I'm a college athlete so I'm definitely in the gym a lot and consider myself to be fairly muscular, but I felt the cut of the sawtooth worked well with that as it had a very healthy taper - despite being slim in the waist it still feels plenty roomy in the shoulders. I guess the takeaway might be that if you are very slim OR have a fairly tapered torso you can get away with TTS (or at least TTS to the size you wear in FH westerns)?

It was more in regards to your body measurements of chest and shoulder.

I'm interesting in the sawtooth, but with you being an anomaly and Danny saying to size +1, I'm a bit confused.  I'd have to agree with more of your advice though because I'm a muscular athlete as well.

You make a good distinction. The shoulders fit me in the 42. The chest on me and others was too tight though hence the need to size up. The 44 on me is perfect in the chest and just a tad too roomy in the shoulders. But after a few days wear the shoulders have settled and moulded to my shape. The taper is what I really like about this cut.

Pure Blue Japan not only weaves the most interesting fabrics. It takes the dyeing of these fabrics to another level and the latest collection pays homage to its love of all things indigo. It is essentially what makes this brand tick.

The indigo knit hoodie and crew neck sweater are both made from a richly textured fleece fabric that showcases the skills of the PBJ craftspeople. They have Raglan sleeves allowing the garment to mould easily to your body shape due to the soft and stretchy nature of the fabric. Just  like a pair of jeans they will just get better with wear as they fade. The hoodie comes in XL fitting up to a 48" chest.

The popular t shirts are now available in long sleeves. In indigo and a border indigo design. The knit polo shirts come in indigo and grey.

Only 2 looms weave PBJ denim. Both are operated by one very senior craftsman. When we say we sell rare denim this is what we mean. We have waited one whole year for the 2nd production of this 14 oz. indigo warp and indigo weft X012 slim tapered jean. It is the same fit as the X11 and X13 jean.

This is the same denim used on the X007. Its texture and character is something to behold.

When I launched Rivet & Hide online in 2012 few people new the store room was my bedroom and the office my lounge in my small West London home. There was no budget for an office or small warehouse.

Soon I was getting emails and calls asking if it was possible to come and try on a pair of jeans or a shirt so my living room became a de-facto store. In April last year we moved to the workshop in Fulham, south west London where we have met many customers who have visited us by appointment.

It was always my plan to open a full bricks and mortar store but I'll share something with you here. My love and appreciation of the brands we carry have deepened since I started Rivet & Hide and this made me even more determined to have them represented in a physical store right in the heart of London.

Today we completed on a lease for 5 Windmill Street, London W1. I just got the keys and work soon starts fitting this place out and we will open mid-April. Until then we continue to operate from the workshop by appointment in Fulham. Thanks to everyone who has supported Rivet & Hide thus far (and for f..k sake please don't disappear now)

Kari from Indigofera was the first guy to see the store. You can see his reflection taking the image

Congratulations Danny, that is great news for all UK denimheads, especially those of us who live in London. I'll definitely visit the shop, looking forward to it.

EDIT: are you wearing a pair of William Lennon boots in that photo?
