Levi's Vintage Clothing

most likely it's recent, but we'd need to see internal tags, or else whether it has the 'made in the USA" script tag on the waistband to say for sure. Or better yet, get the seller to measure actual waist size.If you're 29 waist, actual size 30 would be pretty much perfect.

I bought these awhile back, but I just started wondering about them after looking at Paul's LVC guide. I thought these were the 1873s, but the tag is throwing me off, especially since the 1873s were only made in 2001 and 2008. The selvage is just a plain white. Any help id'ing them would be greatly appreciated.

Additionally, the label says '125' after the size, which tells you that the model is the 125th anniversary model (i.e. 1873-1998 = 125 years), and underneath, next to the 555, is the date of manufacture - 07/99.

Also, they are sometimes known as the '1st blue jean' (see the label attached to the back strap)

Sorry to be more confusing, but that's Lvc for you.

Yeah, that's why I was so confused, I knew it was 99 from the 0799, but the numbers and patch don't match. Very odd, but thanks for more info on the numbering. I had no idea about the significance of 125 in that series. I think whoever I bought them from just attached the "1st blue jean" paper tag.

Normal for them to leave the size off the leather patch on that model? That was the first thing that caught my eye.

Yeah, the size on the 125th Anniv./1st blue jean model (which from 2005 onward was known as the 1890 model) did not have the Lot number or size details until the last issue -2009-10?

Or an even more relevant question: why a completely wrong patch?

To answer your question, they are both early, Valencia-street made repros, so open to some interpretation. Both the '125th anniversary' and the '1873' were basically the same jean apart from the waistband patch.

My 1890's (EDIT: from 2008...) have lot No. and sizing on the patch...

EDIT 2: are you sure you don't mean 1880's model?

I have had the 1873s before (however I outgrew them and sold), and they had a much different looking denim than this pair. This pair is a deeper blue, compared to the other pair's almost greenish denim.

There were originally two issues in 1999/2000: The natural indigo version, here -

..and the synthetic version (same as the denim on your 125th Ann).

So the 125 is the 1890? I thought the 125 was the 1873. The 1873 I have seen in synthetic indigo had the pre 2-horse tag, in 2001 at least.

My 1873 from 2008 has the old tag as well. I find this all very confusing tbh...

Yes the 125th Ann. was the 1890 (when originally issued in 1999), but not labelled as the 1890 until the 2005 version. This was in synthetic indigo only.

The 1873, which when issued in 1999-2001, was available in synthetic and natural versions, and had the old pre-two horse tag.

It was re-issued in natural indigo only again in 2007..ish.

It is all rather confusing. More so by the fact that the125 years anniversary (1873-1998) was celebrated by an 1890 era jean!!

Ah, I'd never seen the 125th tagged up and assumed it was the same as the 1st blue jean/1873. Makes some kind of sense now, as long as you accept the 1st blue jeans was not the first blue jean!

My 1890 are pre-Taylor togs, I think they might be San Antonio, or I suspect there might have been one other maker. But that 555 pair are lovely, rayw.

From my experience, the 1873 has a straighter leg than the 1890, which is slightly tapered.

s3lam, nice looking vintage fades on that 47.

Here's some pictures of the new 1912 Sunset Henley, just got it today from Lizard Lounge in Portland, OR, I think the only US retailer that has it:

The color is truest in this pic- it's called 'Dawn Blue', really its a light, faintly green/khaki color. Really beautiful and subtle.

The body is made of a light reverse weave fabric.

Fabric-covered buttons.

Ribbed gussets and knit cuffs.

LVC is really on a roll with this and the striped workmans shirt from this season, both of which are a step up in design, IMO.

There was a hangtag with a theme for this season- the carving of Mt. Rushmore, with a small red candle attached. Who knew? I haven't seen any items which directly reference the theme, but maybe they're just not out yet...

Just stuck this in the sales thread but Commonn is knocking out a last few sizes of their LVC stock for 20% off (24 hour sale), putting the prices at just £100-124.

I grabbed a pair of the '44s off them earlier in the year and the are the real deal, not the rough rinse or 'one-wash' versions.
