i'm thinking about getting the canon 1.4 / 50mm

any experiences or thoughts?

the reviews i read all said " very good lense for decent price"

some testshots would be nice...

The 50/1.4 is a very nice lens, with your 1.6CF it is more of a portrait lens than anything else though, coz it makes the focal lenght 80mm. So 80 @ 1.4 the dof is razor thin so you have to be very careful, none of that focus-and-recompose type shit, won't work. Also it is soft until up at about f/2.

for whoever asked, i shoot mostly with a digital rebel w/kit lens at the moment. some earlier stuff i posted is film, mostly a nikon n70 (i think, don't have it anymore.) fuji film exclusively, usually shoot with somewhere around 800.

28 1.8 is a great lens.

Ive been using that on a MKII lately and im really diggin the set up.

Carl you should give a 24 1.4L with as much low light W/A stuff you shoot. Its a real beauty.

i love my 35/2 with the XT. it's sharp wide open and insanely sharp stopped down to 2.5+

Some vacation photos. I didn't really have a lot of time to think about composure, lighting, etc. because we were on a pretty tight timeline. Nonetheless, Photoshop can fix many things.

I agree, carl you put a much different spin on the highschool football game. I like it much better than the typical highschool football shops.

They really like my photos, but they want me to work more on peak action shots. I get to shoot the Dolphins/Raiders game tommorow

Personal work - Canon 20d w/ 20mm 2.8 or 50mm 1.8

Newspaper work- Canon 1D MKII w/ 28mm 1.8...football photos shot using a variety of either 400mm 2.8 or 200mm 1.8 both with a 1.4 convertor.

I was a Congressional Page last year in Washington... and I took a few pictures, here are some I like.

This is the Washington Memorial, looking straight up.

WWII Memorial... yes I had a fun night with a camera on the Mall...

None of these have been cropped or had the levels/HSV touched yet so they're probably a little rough right now.
