Just got back from vacation visiting my parents in Florida, first time traveling with our daughter and she did great! I've heard it gets much more difficult once they're a little older so we decided to take this trip now. Didn't wear the jeans much outside of travel days, but giving them another wash today so I'll update with post wash pics. Got some crazy rain in central Texas while we were away, came back home to our roof slightly leaking but fortunately nothing was damaged. Taking it all in. Walking to the beach with Pawpaw. She really loved the sound of the ocean and did well in the pool too! Always eat as much seafood as I can whenever I'm near the ocean. Saffron and seafood risotto. Grilled out for the 4th. So long, until next time. Heading home. Pups on the ride back home, Rooney has to stay in kennel jail because he's too crazy in the car...15 points

Paging @Dr_Heech July 12th, 2002, Chicago Illinois. I had just seen The White Stripes at Cabaret Metro in Chicago and I was high on life and I noticed some young punk out front was wearing a faded two sided vintage Scientifically Treated Petroleum t shirt. In 2002 The White Stripes had just began their meteoric rise to super stardom and I had just seen the greatest live rock and roll show of my life. The crowd was buzzing. We all knew we had just witnessed greatness. Seven Nation Army would come out the following year and for a brief time TWS would become the biggest band on the planet. And it would decades before Jack White would return to the Metro. Without hesitation I asked him how much he wanted for the t shirt. You see years earlier I had become enamored with the STP logo because my grandfather wore a quilted blue winter puffer coat that had some patches on it. Like many folks from his generation he kept everything until it was used and in tatters. This jacket was faded and dirty and I loved it. My grandma HATED it and that just made it more valuable to me. The punk kid said $5. I gave him a ten dollar bill. He took it right off his back and walked off. It became a reminder of that great night of music and it helped that STP was a nice abbreviation of STRIPES. (It also became the night I bounced my drunken best friend from the bar next door which led to him deciding to get sober but that's a different story.) Fast forward two decades and I found two NOS in mint condition on Velva Sheen tees for sale. They had lower quality transfers instead of the beautiful discharge print my OG had but the tees themselves were identical so obviously I couldn't pass them up. One has about a half dozen wears and the other is staying fresh for now. You can see the difference between the prints below: All three shirts together below. You can see how much the transfer on the newer shirt has degraded with just two washes. The OG shirt below. Those pit stains need attention and OXY. Paper thin And the newer shirt. All of the tees are printed on 60s/70s era Velva Sheen. Back print comparison6 points

Hi Carl, I have the exact same issue and i had the same conversation with b_F only a few weeks ago.. i might be able to help, the reason i persuaded him to try Japan Rabbit was.. around a year ago, i found these frames by Hakusan Megane. They're the T-Jerry's (or Jerry's) ..but they're not cheap at around £5-600 on the auction sites (they haven't been in production for many years so it's worth waiting for a good pair) .. meaning they would hit the UK border at £800, i'd struggle to get my money back should i not be entirely happy with them.. I'm in a health scheme so i get my cost of optical back.. therefore i can buy a pair of fancy frames and my health scheme covers the cost of an eye test and replacement lenses every 12mths... i've been wearing the same frames for the last 7yrs so over that time.. it spreads the cost. They have the wired cushions at the nose.. ..which i need for all frames, for one it stops them constantly slipping down my face but for me.. i have a slightly wonky nose therefore, to enable me to sit the glasses symmetrically on my face, i have to move one cushion slightly in and one cushion out.. i can't do this with most acetate frames so i don't but them for reading glasses. I found a similar looking pair at our local opticians without the wired nose cushions.. and took all the sizes.. measuring them up accordingly to see if they would suit me.. but if you want to wait for actual dimensions.. the glasses should land here at some point next week.3 points

thanks @Le Clown Bleu- you can find some things at Goodies Oxford, Peggs & Son Brighton, and The Bureau Belfast. A couple of images of these went out in the newsletter I just sent out, but here are some more details. The best-worn pair of Weaver's Blanket Denim trews I've seen, very kindly brought in by a long-time customer and great friend of the brand. Note the twill switching at various points:2 points

That wasn't working at one point, but the link works now. So these all seem to be the new ones: https://bears-tokyo.myshopify.com/products/studio-dartisan-sd-101-15oz-right-hand-regular-straight https://item.rakuten.co.jp/earthmarket/sd-101-2836/ https://item.rakuten.co.jp/barnstormer3goten/bsd2188/ For 36 they all say something like 28.9 to 29.5cm for the front rise. This seems to be the old one. For a 36 the FR is 28cm. https://item.rakuten.co.jp/natty-passage/sd-101/?variantId=r-sku00000002 So the front rise is about 1-1.5cm longer. The main difference then is probably the back rise which Bears measures as 42cm. Previously it was ca. 40.5cm.1 point

I just couldn’t let these 30s contest jeans sit! @theguywhoknewthatguy had these listed in the sale section for a few months and thought someone else would join us, so I waited patiently. No one snapped them up! So I guess I have a 2nd pair of contest jeans-hope I’m not doing anything illegal! Cant imagine wearing them as much as my original pair, but we’ll see. #1921 point

It looks like the weather is going to turn to shit this weekend so i took today off.. God damn neighbours put this Furby under their tree before they moved back to Holland.. it's been out through the winter yet, 2yrs later and it still speaks, it scares the shit out of me! ..early game of tennis.. my kid has been working on the allotments this week, doing all the jobs the old folks don't want to do.. digging, strimming, removing brambles and such, he starts at 12.30.. one of the neighbours kids used to do it but he's on a gap year in Bali. I rode through Burbage Through Longshaw ..and past White Edge Lodge, you can rent this joint as a holiday let, It was in the TV adaptation of Jane Eyre White Edge Blacka Moor It's a great year for bilberries.. When i was a kid, my folks would take me, my friends and cousins out bilberry picking, we'd all have a bucket or a Wall's Icecream tub.. there would be a gang of kids on th hillside, our hands stained purple for the week.. they'd make bilberry jam, bilberry cheesecake, bilberry wine.. we'd live off them through the autumn, yet cost of living crisis and the bilberries are going to waste.. ? ..stopped for a pint of Absolution at the Norfolk Arms ..and home1 point

Even the nerdiest of nerdy denim-nerds never said.. "Ooh! .. i like your jeans.. and i can tell based on your build that you usually wear a size 32" but on very close inspection of the patch.. it quite rightly says 34" so you've obviously sized up due to the manufacturers reproducing a sizing quirk" Never happened.. never will, just sell me jeans that f'kin fit.. ffs! It's not even difficult.. make the jeans.. make the intentional mistakes if you will.. but when they're made, just measure them up before sewing on the appropriate patch.. jeez?!1 point

One from the final ‘production’ run … and f-ck me it’s another one of those ACE buckles 😋 (note the humorous emoticon @Double 0 Soul), albeit I’ve swapped out their acrylic jewels for real turquoise I know this is isn’t my thread nor is it (was) my shop but I might do a little ‘class’ in belt making here - just something to let folk better understand some of the aspects, the shortcuts taken, the myths busted etc. Maybe it’ll keep the thread alive a little bit longer if folk want contribute or chip in some questions or queries?1 point

Thank you … thank you very much indeed. I mentioned somewhere here earlier, I’ve made a couple of hundred belts after hoping I might have made a couple - full stop … you (and others) put your trust and hard earned dollars into my project - I remember every single belt for every single reason, that’s my privilege1 point

@Duke Mantee An honor to’ve been among the first & among the last Big ups to you for finding a cool niche for yourself, building up a great skill set, and getting out on your own terms—even any one of those alone would be a big accomplishment1 point
