another wash wet fragments on line wet indigo in the wild… no dryer used here but the crinkles creep in regardless (will share measurements when dry to give relative numbers re: shrinkage post 4th wash at 40…)

Update on my pair, I think I've washed them 3 times so far and they're due for another wash here soon. Feels like these started off quickly and started to slow down a bit, but I'm enjoying them regardless. I wish the front pocket openings were a little wider, but that's my only real complaint.

Still haven’t washed mine since the initial soak, so not much to show as of yet, I’m holding off before I wash. But, I did attend our new little town’s Western Weekend Parade which is a sweet and odd culmination of ranchers, farm workers and kooky hippies!

My Duck Digger 1947s in Banner Denim got another wash. They rarely get worn at this point as they were originally a little short and are now incredibly short on me. The crotch seam has seen better days too after I repaired nearly the entire length after it had the unfortunate timing of popping open in the Amsterdam airport. Now they’re just relegated for grilling and dirty tasks. I can’t make myself get rid of them though since they were the jeans that I wore for the birth of our son and were my workhorses for the first few months of his life. They’ve gotten many washes do to the usual newborn accidents so whiskering is not as pronounced on some Banner Denim pairs.

Here are some shots of my pair of 50s right out of the wash. I’ve had them close to 2 years now with lots of washing. Seam puckering, crinkling, and roping are great.

My partner traded for some 80s Levi’s at a vintage sale today! They’re a model 26501-0118 with a paper patch, non-selvedge but still beautiful denim, and a 2 2 stamped on the top fly button. Anyone have more info on them at all? Some photos & closeups of the patch, fabric and some nicely sloppy back pocket stitching:

Can confirm heavy marbling. Too much marbling for me. It's moving me towards washing every 8 weeks or so because I don't want them going crazy like my Warehouse x Signet jeans did. Mine turned a corner after a thousand miles through the desert and they seem to be dropping indigo more quickly these days. I think @Broark's pair hits what I want, but not what I'm getting. Lol. Once it stops raining here, I'll try to get a few new pics up.

How very odd.. i wonder how it entered the denim-psyche if not via a repro detail? Looking back to Pg1 of this thread.. that stitch detail was apparent on the (1980s) MP-597s which i'm calling a 50s repro but it's not apparent on the (1980s) MP-603 which are a late 40s repro.. It's apparent on the (1991) M41001 but not apparent on the (2003-present) SC-47s so that all tracks as a stitch detail from a pair of 50's Levis .. but then not really..? It's also apparent on the (1991) M41030 / 37 repro?? If it's been a vintage repro detail since the 1980s .. one would have thought, if it was a mistake, it would have been noticed and dropped before now.. Freewheelers, Silverstone, CSF.. who're all using vintage Levi's as benchmark are reproducing that stitch.. albeit, CSF is a loop as opposed to stitch-through .. Unless it's the 'Richard Gere & the gerbil' type detail.. so ingrained in our consciousness that we all just believe it's a thing without any evidence ..

My favourite levis i own are some non-selvedge 501 stf 1995 made in US. I got them off Ebay dirt cheap and they are very faded with some paint splashes on them. I blew the knee out recently after trying to scrape some paint off which led to a small tear forming. Silly me. Comparing the fabric to a pair of 550 made in Mexico mid 2000s, the 501s (which are labeled xx on the patch) has a much more grainier, marbling texture. The denim feels thicker too. Were the 90s stf XX known to have this type of texture? Is the XX any different to non xx 501s? Seeing some earlier 80s pairs on here they don't seem to have the same texture. Unless it depends how they are washed and dried more than the actual fabric? The 550s seem much more flatter and uniform.

My experience so far is different - I did the first three washes by hand though - hang dry. Very minimal marbling. Not close to what my WH 1003xxs are (which I am pretty sure are the pair that was adopted to the Signet contest jeans - or at least the same denim, I just got the regular run before the contest). That pair does have some decent marbling. Finally did a machine wash and didn't notice much marbling either - they may have gotten past that point. That said, I'm currently without my pair as they get some darning done and I expect to only machine wash and wash more frequently, so we'll see if anything changes but it could be awhile.

My pair is almost ready for another wash so I thought that I would snap some photos beforehand. They’re slower faders than Warehouse but not impossibly slow in my opinion. Some heavy creases and highlights are popping in on the lap. It’s pretty easy to see how these get such pronounced whiskers. The raised back pocket rivets are also doing a number on the pocket corners. I would be shocked if these don’t pop through eventually. Knees are also showing some highlights

Follow up from the small questions thread (and vintage denim thread) - my partner and I both got some new pants today! I got some buzz chinos that I really like, wider than I imagined but still like the fit, and my partner got some nice dark 80s Levi’s. Don’t focus too much on my terrible haircut lol 😛

Didn’t purchase much in recent times but this bucket hat in brown chambray is much more functional than I assumed it would be. And beautiful fabric. Looking forward to the puckering of the stitches in the future.

You might be better off checking John Simons at that point or even Drake's at the UK pricing. My understanding is that all of them source fabrics from the same mills so there is a lot of overlap, especially between the Press and Drakes offerings this year. Unfortunately, I don't think that they have anything that quite matches that olive/red color

Ah.. ok 🤔.. so pinkline in the year 2000 and V stitch to the top of the waistband, that's unusual.. Peekaboo ID a'la SC-47s but the back pocket stitch resembles the M41001.. Can you see this^ protruding pocket stitch @Dr_Heech ? .. it's used for the Sugarcane M41001 late 40s / early 50s repros .. you don't see it on SC-47s but you do see it on FW-47s albeit protruding less.. off the top of my head, i don't recall seeing it on late 40s - early 50s Levi's but you would know better then i? @redragon does the waistband stitch continue over the fly at 90° like this ? ..or does it stop at the waistband ?

JS long sleeve Madras don't fit me well in the arms unfortunately and he doesn't have much in the ss popover (so far) this year.

my pair is marbling too. I thought is my washing machine, but last time I did hand wash and after hang drying it looked same as after machine wash. IMO we have to prolong not washing time, to let denim to live and let mechanic tear to work. Biggest marbling I noticed on my Denime 220A. IMO it's kind of denim doing that. And there even long time between washes didn't help. IMO it's kind of denim used for 220A is doing that.

Even though this is a SC denim thread, this isn’t denim, so please bear with me. (We don’t have a SC other stuff thread. I checked) But the development of this indigo madras from them too good not to share. It was quite dark blue when I bought it about a year ago.
