Here are some progress images of my ‘super denim collectibles’ 1946. I’ve never had 2 of the same pair to really to a side by side like this before, and kind of cool to see (IMO, of course). The worn pair is a sz 33” (up one from my usual size) and unworn 32”. I’ve been wearing since roughly the beginning of 2024 pretty much everyday for the first 8 months and after that wearing M-F and rotating different pairs on the weekend. I think I’ve washed 5 or 6 times - when I’ve felt like it. This is typically the kind of fade I like, and the stage when I would stop wearing and start to break in a new pair, but I plan on keeping these going. I really like them.24 points

We're getting some mild Spring-like weather which can be a rarity around here, so I'm taking the opportunity to do a few chores around our patch. Trees were long overdue for a trim so I've had to be ruthless. That's hard for me as I'm one of those hippies that feels the trimming causes pain to the tree. I've used the tractor to push away the trimmings, and do a bit of mowing too as the foxtails are starting to sprout. Met a gopher snake soaking up the heat from the pebbles.18 points

Early 1990s MiJ Bartack 1950s repro. Bought these raw in the early 2010's for a song. Ditched the patch and modified the arcs, to look more like vintage levis. No hidden rivets but lovely two tone stitching and scoville rivet backs plus off set belt loop. Denim is a greeny blue but difficult to pick up on with these phone images. Photo orientation skills by sufu Ai, not me sorry.15 points

MOTO #2121 in light brown Latigo A few weeks ago we were in Atlanta for a family wedding, and my partner’s mom spilled a bunch of laundry detergent on these. Wiped them down with a wet rag and ordered some leather soap and leather cream for next day delivery (wonders of the modern world). Still dry & dirty vs. wet after a wash: Dry again after their wash…plus the view from the suburban front porch (could be worse): Conditioned them right after the last photos, but didn’t have a good brush on hand. Fast forward to today, finally got around to brushing them off and lightly buffing. I’m sure I’ve said it before, but I’m really happy with how these are breaking in.15 points

All ready for night two of our award winning live "Radio Show" The Spectral Silhouette. ( Adult Scooby Doo meets The Shadow with live music. We are on Spotify ). Tonight's show is vaguely western themed so wool trousers become cowboy denim. All vintage except the Barker Black pocket square and the Bronson Lee-pro.13 points

Busy weekend so far. Thursday night (basically Friday night cos of the holiday) my band played a benefit gig for a homie of our who got hit with some sever emergency medical expenses. Haven't rocked a gig since December so that felt good. Then spent Friday (Saturday) and today (second Saturday) working on the bathroom at the new place with my dad. Got the old wall ripped out and lucky for us the pocket door frame fit perfectly into the void left by the wall. Got the frame installed, got a temporary floor where the shower used to be, and got the header installed above the door. Also borrowed a family friend's truck to get some of the bigger furniture out of my girlfriend's apartment. The Big Move is next weekend and then I'll finish up the bathroom at some point.12 points

Had to get dressed up fancy, recently, for the first time in years, and took it as an excuse to finally try out Django Atour. Picked up linen trousers & shirt and a lovely striped cotton vest. Also grabbed a matching jacket which ended up being quite a bit too small (oh well) and a pair of linen pajama pants that I’ve been wearing most evenings. All the pieces are super cool. Both pants were cut long and serged but left un-hemmed, which I really appreciated as a taller guy. The fabrics are great. The designs and patterns are really well considered, and a few of the details make it seem like they pulled out all the stops during construction (not a big surprise, at the price). Happy to take more photos or give more detailed descriptions on request, as always. Anyway, didn’t actually get any full body photos, but I’m sure I’ll put the outfit back on eventually for something or other and do a better photoshoot. Was paired with MOTO derbies in black shell, and a great vintage bolo. Here’s the one selfie I did take:11 points

Some post shrink pictures: All in all I’d say the wash brought out a lot of hairiness, they shrunk more than I thought, and are considerably less wide (or should I say more well proportioned?) than other wide jeans I have, but I really love the fit, and the excellent leg twist. Pre vs post wash measurements: Waist: 44 cm to 40cm F. Rise: 36 cm to 34 cm Thigh (including back panel): 37 cm to 34 cm Hem: 25 cm to 24 cm Inseam: 89 cm to 81 cm And now, to wear!8 points

The s1945 arrived about 10 days ago. I purchased them raw and have soaked them in the tub followed by a trip through the machine and hung outside to dry. I’ve yet to wear them. The fabric, as @beautiful_FrEaK mentioned, is quite neppy and rough - it really came alive after the soak/wash. Comparing the fabric to the s43 and 46 that I have, it’s closer in hand to the s43, where the 46 is quite smooth with a more ‘regular’ feel/texture. The difference in the color and dye used is quite apparent, and with the s45, I like that the weft is in a more natural/undyed state (see image - s43 on left and s45 on right). I really like the pairs I have - from the different fabrics, dyes, hardware, sewing, etc. I’m certainly no historian, but I really appreciate the effort SC has put into this line. Here are my pairs from top: s43, s45, 46 (unworn), 46 (worn consistently since I got them at the ~beginning of 2024, can’t remember exactly). weft comparison: s43 on left s45 on right6 points

FWs has now issued their crotch rivet, no cinch, denim pocket bags model. They categorize it as Second Half of 1945. I think with the Spring 25 presentation there had been some teasers. Apparently this model was produced from the latter half of 1942 until the latter half of 1945. Pics from Wolfpack and Mirrorball.6 points

My 611s right before first real wash. Shot in open shade so tried to get these more accurate, but this still feels a little more dramatic than how they look in reality. Maybe the coin pocket pic is closest to most accurate. little bit of button rust with multiple passes of hand stitching reinforcing that back seam now. Still holding but sheesh lots of time left. Maybe need to lay off the bike commutes in these.3 points

Spent a few hours on a ladder this weekend tearing down some invasive vines from the (also invasive, but much less work to upkeep) bamboo lining our side walkway. There was way more to it than I bargained for—probably 2–3 cubic yards, all told—and I didn’t even consider how barren it would leave my de facto WAYWT backdrop. Oh well, bamboo grows back all too fast once it’s not getting choked out. feat. Union Special, Tender Co., The Vanishing West, Tezomeya, Russell In other garden news, the irises I put in a few months ago are just starting up, and the delphiniums are just finishing for the season: (feat. vintage Cane’s x2 in the background) …and we’ve just moved some tomatoes and peppers from their starter pots into the ground out front, plus threw in some marigolds and extra tomato starters from the store for good measure3 points

Don't want to steal away traffic from the M-series thread, but I'll happily repost my The Flat Head S2004. The model number suggests they'd be a war model, but really they're detailed after the late '40s or early '50s, as best I can tell—couldn't say which reference period specifically. The name seems to have been a hold-over from the S2003, which were made the year prior and were a true war model. Otherwise, there's really not much info floating around on these. Here's them when they were new: …and here's after a decent bit of wear: I've said it before, but if it weren't for the low rise these would be way up in the running for my overall favorite pair of jeans. The detailing's great, construction's top notch, and the denim's faded just how I wish all '40s–'50s repro denim would fade. A++, would absolutely buy another pair if one ever showed up, even despite not loving everything about the fit.2 points

I'm the same Carl.. the first 10mins of a tennis match is spent picking up the worms which have wandered onto the court and putting them back amongst the trees.. Before i left work on Friday, i washed my hands in the sink, I turned the tap on but there was a baby woodlice which had fallen into the sink getting washed down the plughole.. like a coiled spring, i err.. sprung into action and covered the plughole with my hand before he got washed away.. alas, i was a second too late.. when i looked under my hand he or maybe she? .. (you know how these woodlice are with their pronouns) was hanging onto the metal thingy which catches the debris.. "hold on little woodlice" i ran back into the workshop and got some tweezers and picked him out, i put him on a piece of kitchen roll to absorp the water.. his little anteni were still moving around so i thought he'd be ok after he got over the shock. Then when you get home and put the news on.. 300 dead today in this war, 200 dead in that war and you think "what the fk, why do i even bother" .. Sadly, when i got to work yesterday morning, the little woodlice had died.. he was all curled up so it was possibly too late to defibrillate him with the 9V battery from the smoke alarm and a couple of wires. I thought giving him a decent burrial was going a bit too far so i just chucked him in the bin..2 points

True. He should be happier considering I was able to avoid him with the tractor.2 points

I had noticed the beautiful indigo patina on the rough out side of favorite vintage painted belt before but I was today years old when I realized the buckle is designed to be instantly reversible. It seems it simply swings both ways. I can wear it either way without swapping the buckle. I won't do it often because I don't want to effect the perfect gloss or the paint too much. But how cool is that?2 points

I got one of those too telling me about the potential for massive growth - I told them I was in my 60s and sent a dicpic to show them how wrong they were2 points

Buckle back 1936 jeans just came in. It’s been about 2 years since I last bought a five pocket design jeans. These are light, roomy and the fabric looks amazing up close. The only downside is that despite what it shows on the website, my pair lacks the crotch rivet, which happens to be one of my favorite details. they are still raw, I expect to wash them later on tonight, will add before and after measurements afterwards.2 points

Instagram is more or less a digital shopping mall at this point. You could tell in the early days. I was early on facebook and not so much on IG, but it got to the point where - as a photographer - that was actually where you got decent jobs (for awhile). When it was still new(ish) art buyers and photo editors actually would use it as a source. That was a poor decision - I always felt like IG was not and could not be a portfolio but I was in the minority with that sentiment. I always tried to forge working relationships with personal (and not social media) contact, but for awhile I played the game. The reason I got on it was for work, but it wasn’t supposed to feel like or look like it - but it still was. I’m not alone in that sense. That happened in so many industries. It has become an almost necessity of small business / creative, because that’s where so much of the public goes to see what exists. You need to be visible, somehow. I fuckin hate it, I am happier being off the platform, but to be honest, deleting all of my Meta etc. accounts is a privilege in its own right. Most of my colleagues would love to but cannot fathom it. It’s become like an extension of themselves and needed to exist in the digital world where they actually bring in the revenue that pays their rent. So yea, it’s pretty shit in a lot of ways but that’s the world we live in.2 points

Picked up a pair of 992s, seems like New Balance is going heavier on this model this year. Quite comfy, might get the core grey model eventually as well.2 points
