  4. I haven’t taken photos of pants, because I’m currently wearing 1/2 of them. I also haven’t taken photos of tees (2x), a whole big slew of socks, nor a variety of smaller things (shades, watch, mugs, gloves, kerchief, ???). With those exceptions out of the way, finally: jackets & coats. Shown first are the Type 961 Baste Pocket Jacket, in red ochre cotton velvet; the Type WS922 Welsh Flannel Curve Front Jacket (Thanks Austin!); the Type 425 Double Cuff Flat Jacket, in some sort of very soft (felted?) wool. Last but not least are the Tenth Anniversary Edition Type 900 and the standard Type 902.

  6. Photo dumps incoming! First, sweaters. Shown are the Type 799 Mirror pPanel Double Pullover, in blackberry stitch lambswool; the Type 781 Tube Neck Pullover, in cold felted lambswool; the Type 751 Wide Rib Barnacle Neck Pullover, in Shetland wool blind fair isle knit wool. The Mirror Panel Pullover, in particular, is a long time favorite. (Not shown are both the cardigan and the turtleneck version of the Pop Punch Rap Promoter sweater, the latter of which was a gift from my partner.)

  8. Next, shirts. Before I tried anything else from Tender Co., I was a big fan of their wool & mohair socks. I thought that the rest of the clothes were a little too out there for me (go figure). At some point in maybe 2017 or 2018, I was in Standard & Strange and they asked if I wanted to try out one of the shirts. It wasn’t for sale—I think they’d stopped even stocking Tender Co., by that point, besides maybe belts and socks—but I guess another regular had dropped it off as a pay-it-forward sort of deal, just in hopes that it would find a happy home. It was some or other version of (I think) the Type 423 Wallaby shirt, and at that point in grad school I wasn’t going to say no to a free fancy shirt. I started trying to work it into my style, and before too long a switch flipped and I “got it”. I’m still really thankful to whomever dropped the shirt at S&S, and to the staff who was working that day and saw fit to pass it on to me (sadly, I’ve long forgotten who that would’ve been). Through them, a long-term appreciation & obsession were born. The shirt in question was eventually joined by 2x Type 492 Bench Shirts, in indigo chambray tote cloth + in henna handkerchief check; the Type 452 Bridge Pocket Square Tail Shirt, in Hadal green Herdwick stripe casement; the Type 445 Short Sleeved Boomerang Shirt, in Prussian blue carding cloth. (Not shown is a Type 420 Long Sleeve Tail Shirt, in walnut cotton tote, which I almost like quite a bit, but rarely end up wearing in practice, I think because of the bright red buttons. I’ve also sadly had to pass a couple others on due to inconsistent sizing.)

  9. Covering a few blunders from the above that I mentioned. Maine Mountain Moccasin: Started off originally as "New England Outerwear Co.", the brand focused on making traditional moccasin constructions boots and shoes. They eventually changed their name to be more clearly defined (I don't think they ever actually made outerwear, so funny choice to name your brand). I think things started off fine until they began offering MTO production without properly defining the expectations to their customers. People were paying 100% up front and then going months without any form of communication from the brand and a lot of people just thought their money was gone. After a few years of tomfoolery the brand eventually folded. No idea if everyone ever got their boots or not, personally I have a pair (they were RTW, never dealt with their MTO shenanigans) and they're really nice. Wish there was a brand around like this to fill the niche. Quoddy / Rancourt doesn't really do it for me, Russell and Yuketen have gone off the deep end with price increases. I promise to eventually go into detail on the Jack/Knife stuff, got a bunch of info from a very trusted source years ago but never did anything with it...but I'm off to work now. I'll track it down and see what I can post.

  10. @jeash90 turn jeans inside out, soak in warm to hot tap water in the sink or bath until saturated, then while still wet and pliable put them in the washing machine still inside out on a 40°C cycle with either spin set to absolute minimum or stop the machine before the spin, pull them out hang dry and stay away from reddit 👍 Note this is for a front loading machine as we have in the UK, experience may differ across the pond but the last bit remains true 😄

  13. You def get more shrinkage with a hot wash than you do with a cold wash and not just jeans, cotton t-shirts too.. i've worn the same jeans and Gildan tees for years in both home and workshop environment, in order to get my work clothing even close to clean, it needs washing at 40°C, the white tees at 60°C.. the tees are tight when i put them on but stretch back with wear.. whereas my clothing worn at home washed at 30°C doesn't shrink as much, the tees hardly shrink at all.. my clothing doesn't dry at room temp, it dries outdoors on the washing line.

  14. I'd wager if you cold wash your jeans multiple times (and exactly how many I'm not sure - but 5 seems like a good guess), they'll end up about the same place as if you hot wash them once. I've never owned the same exact jeans and denim twice, but if I only ever cold wash and hang dry, I tend to keep seeing shrinkage for longer than if I start out with a hot wash. If you're the sort of person who washes only after 6 months and then only a few months after that, for the majority of the life of the jeans you may not have gotten all of the shrink out.

Length is taken at the back from beneath collar to hem Seen here, it's perfectly in proportion for a 506xx It's in o/w condition with the tiniest amount of rub to the cinch strap.. i can photograph it of course but we get very little daylight at this time of year so you'll either have to take my word for it or wait till the weekend.

  26. Ok, give me a few hours, I’ll measure it up when I get home. I can’t do much about the price I’m afraid, they were released at an exhibition for rarely seen 1946 goodies from the Toyo vaults, I managed to buy the jeans but all the jackets sold out on opening night so I had to pay a small fortune for one, a few weeks later from Yahoo in o/w condition...

  28. I put my 220A XX in the washing machine on hot (unsure of temp for that machine), air dried, and repeated again to get max shrinkage. Totally fine!

  29. I feel the same way, don't think I have ever purchased the same cut nor the same denim. Like trying different cuts/denim and have others I am ready to try at any given time. Actually, I did buy the recent Imperial pairs so I guess the 'same denim' isn't entirely true.

  34. Post cold wash fit. Legs are nice and roomy, top is ever so slightly snug, but is already stretching out. Might do one more hot wash just to get whatever shrink is left out (lost an inch in the inseam with the first cold wash) but feeling like the sizing worked out pretty well!
