I've never been able to buy any clothing from MF because it is all too slim fitting for my build, but I did buy this tote in - I think - 2015 - during a trip to Los Angeles, before I moved here from the UK in 2020. Just dug it out and washed it. Here are some photos. Straight outta the wash and some post-dry details. Slightly obvious as to which side rubbed against my torso during daily use for a few years.7 points

Here you go... I didn't have a plan on what to wear the vest with... and after wearing it all weekend, I still don't ... my conclusion is just throw it on and wear it with whatever. I've been to the cinema in it, nearly losing a chocolate bar in one of the ten pockets, gone for kebabs in it and lounged on the sofa watching the footy in it. Multi-functional. I'll also refrain from calling it a vest... I think the 'sleeveless outing coat' is, in fact, a more appropriate description given the style, weight and voluminous fit... at least in the size I got, which is my usual Ooe size The denim and shape are still settling down so it hasn't draped yet... I can see it coming in especially useful when out and about on holidays6 points

looks great @MJF9! so much rizz. there was a long discussion on a thread many moons ago about vest sizing with the consensus that it should be one size smaller than yr shirt size (p2p) since the p2p on a vest is measured lower than on shirts. but i would beg to differ with these types of vest, sorry, sleeveless outing coat! like the og filson hunting vest and the rising sun outdoor vest based on it, i think they look way more sigma sized up. there's an old rising sun catalogue with one of the rugged models dressed in a ridiculously oversized vest (while carrying a lantern inside a fake disused mine) and he slayed the house down heavy leather boots!5 points

Antique Cowboy Boots Pre 1930? Unknown maker. Seller said 1910s based on pattern, lack of toe bug stitch, construction, and rubber-less heels but I think they are probably a little later. Something about them just says 1920s or 30s. Heavy vintage leather is still flexible and supple, heels have bare leather and nail bottoms since this pair seems to predates the use of rubber on cowboy boots. Love the curves and last shape. The pattern is also a bit unique with a higher vamp like an engineer boot, and very similar to the Clinch cowboy boots made by @brasstokyo that I'm obsessed with. A similar vintage pair that clearly inspired Brass is included at the end. Love the evidence of the maker like crease running down the middle of the vamp where the leather was centered for lasting. And the best part? They are exactly my size and in perfectly wearable condition. Infrequently of course. Any info or educated guesses as to age or maker are very welcome and appreciated.5 points

Similar happened to me a few years back in a motorbike accident. I had to have a few good bits chopped me including a barbour international I'd just rewaxed, a valencia st type 2 that was barely worn in, warehouse sweatshirt and a momotaro chambray. I was most upset about the type 2, and shattered collarbone of course. Hope you have a quick and straightforward recovery.5 points

Is there any reason you cant just buy a size up, or the correct tag size with your desired waist?4 points

Fortunately, denim is pretty hardy; the road just reached my shoulder, so it saved me from further pain for sure. Maybe insurance can replace it since I literally just got it ha. But will probably try patch it and replace the busted button and will be a good reminder of how lucky I was.4 points

For those who may want some insight as to how a brand like Rick Owens ended up at Self Edge, this is a 5 year old article written by Derek Guy about it (featuring @sidneylo https://putthison.com/how-rick-owens-landed-at-self-edge/4 points

After promising to not buy another pair before the WoM contest starts, my willpower broke. Stopped by SE Austin and grabbed a pair of the exclusive wide 34 cut. These feel like a proper pair of straight legged jeans compared to the XX's. My old XX's feel like a slim-straight cut, and the rise is just a bit too low for my tastes these days. So this 34 cut is much more my speed. The Boncoura denim is still great and has one of my favorite selvedge IDs. Also the 34 cut is a few inches longer, so I can wear these uncuffed or with a small double cuff. Might give them another wash to see if there's any residual shrink. It's kinda crazy to think that I bought the XX's 7 years ago.4 points

This isn't much help - I don't take before or after measurements usually, I just take note if something fits. (I take measurements before I buy, but after that I just put it on). Anyways, I recall the FW one wash '51's stretching a bit in the waist and more or less staying that way. They've never been as tight as they were the first few days I wore them, even after many subsequent washes - or if they are it's only for an hour or so. I wear a size 30, and their 30 is pretty middle of the road against other brands. But, snug as they were, they still buttoned up just fine without any contorting. All of that said, I wouldn't personally buy any jeans with a waist short of my intended use, not 3 cm, definitely 5 or 6 cm - and I didn't with my '51s. I bought them at the exact waist size I wanted to wear them at.2 points

Send me an offer by DM on most items, but the two lined TCB jackets I will probably sit on for a while and wait for a bite. Measurements in the description for each item. Here is a one wash photo measurement of the 51 in size 34. I was told...'Waist area is also shrunk about 1cm after washing by yourself but the waist will stretch after wearing many times' - Seiichiro at Hoosiers Measure your jeans like this and compare. Then probably just end up buying a size 36 and living with the fact that they are tighter after a wash, and a tiny bit looser when worn a while.1 point

I would have thought same @Double 0 Soul, especially the way the whsiskers look make the left pair look tighter fitting and the right pair looser.1 point

wore my oldest tender shirt (butterfly in plain calico) to do some promo content for my new book MONGREL KAMPUNG, deja disponible from Ugly Duckling Presse in NYC there might be some sufu-relevant lines in it! sufu friends in north america can buy the book straight from my publisher https://uglyducklingpresse.org/publications/mongrel-kampung/ in amsterdam it's available from Stichting Perdu in the UK it may eventually be available at yr local waterstone's but maybe better to order it from yr local indies, those who are particular about our books screen-20241104-214835~2.mp41 point

I am always jealous of folks that can get 18 months and many washes without major repairs. By the time my jeans start getting toward that super soft, bright two year mark, they're so fragile that I can't wear them more than a few weeks without needing more repair. I love the look of all of these jeans, but I always prefer that bright, powder blue most.1 point
