I'm not familiar. Interesting. The denim looks great. Plus, love the idea of picking something up from such a small brand/absolute artisan. So you're saying there are two options? One: semi-custom (I can send over some measurements to alter his existing pattern). Two: he offers a western cut OTR? Is the best insta handle to ask him if he's taking orders this one? https://www.instagram.com/librapondus/?locale=undefined&hl=am-et @Broark roger that. I'll drop him a line to confirm and report back. Huge thank you to everyone for the suggestions. I'll update with my next moves.2 points

I also just noticed this when considering buying a pair of the new S40's. I didn't buy them, in the end, though not down to the shipping cost (which is still very very reasonable, for the UK at least - £17 / $22), more that I am aiming for monk-like restraint on jeans buying until my pizza jeans land (and then a further 18 months of no more jeans of course!!!)2 points

Thanks guys for spurring me on, I'm feeling a real draw back towards Ivy style as Autumn comes flying in... I went with one Kamakura BD from All Blues (so nice to shop somewhere good, in person) and ventured into the realms of made in USA vintage and deadstock Brooks Brothers on Ebay - quite the can of worms I've opened for myself there! 😬 Picked up a BD Brooks Brothers flannel with a flap pocket (actually looks as though it's the model Kamakura based their new combed twill popovers on!) and currently bidding on a number of (very well priced) old Brooks Brothers MiUSA bits and pieces.2 points

We been having this swastika discussion every couple of years for as long as i can remember.. Anywho.. since it was last debated, i've dug this up It's actually paleolithic.. possibly the oldest recognised complex symbol which mankind has been carving into rocks.. an ivory figurine was found in the Ukraine with the swastika carved into it which was carbon dated to 15,000yrs old The theory is.. If you cut a piece of mammoth ivory through it's core.. the growth structure of the bone is in the shape of a repeating swastika.. hence mankind has been aware of the symbol and revered it since we've been hunting mammoth2 points

My 0105s in 32 have arrived from Japan just now. 5 days to the UK. Pretty damn fast and great customer service from FC who were able to pick a pair out for me and let me know the waist measurement before shipping. These fit ALOT more comfortably in the waist than the 31s (which I seemed to be unlucky with and they were undersized) Will be giving them a good 40 wash first to get rid of most of the shrinkage. Looking forward to wearing these a lot. Their standard 13.7oz is so comfortable from the start. Not sure what other brand can really compare in that department.2 points

Their new catalog is very nice. I wasn’t aware we had a thread for Cushman. Great brand.2 points

I am searching myself for equal restraint... The shipping cost is reasonable and understandable but I'll probably make fewer transactions and be less likely to pick up smaller items like shirts. That's probably for the best, for me and maybe for them as well. They are in an interesting place with international sales now though. AFAIK they no longer have any retailers in North America. This didn't matter much before, because the direct to consumer prices were so good and the shipping was fast and free. That equation has changed a bit over the last couple of years and it feels like they are turning more towards their domestic market. I hope they will have a relationship with a US stockist eventually like what they do with Second Sunrise, but maybe that's not their interest.1 point

@malik look at the Left Field Atlas fit. It’s meant for lifters so has a pretty close waist/thigh ratio to what you’re after.1 point

The linesheets are available on their Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cushman_official/1 point

Interested in those leather sneakers whenever they're released. Ever since Instagram changed the way you can sort hashtags it's been a bit more difficult for me to keep track of their releases.1 point

Glad you got that sorted! Glad to hear also about your good experience with FC customer service, I had a great experience too. And regards comfort straight from the off, I've yet to experience quite the same in any other brand's fabric - I think there's a fairly large consensus here on that! They're a joy to wear!1 point

@malik not much to add to the above... this is a bit of a challenge eh... the thigh size for the waist as well as inseam sometimes Yamane denim is worth double-checking e.g. the Labor#7001 model (looks great)... but I think inseam will be too short Canes M41101 a 1930s Leepro in W36 (which washes to a W34) has 13 inch front rise and 14.5 inch thighs. Looks a good match - the issue is you'd need a lot of luck finding them on Yahoo auctions I checked Freewheelers 1937 - the thigh measured at crotch is 13.5 inch so little short. Ditto the Sugar Canes 1943 collectibles. Belafonte worth a check too - hi-back trousers won't work due to inseam but they may have other models - and they look good worn big which may help Good luck and keep us posted!1 point

I feel like I've always had this issue, usually solved by shift + return. It's kind of muscle memory for me by this point. @malik the LB Jeans that b_F recommended are a good option, however I don't think he's accepting new orders at the moment. The waist might end up being a little large, but most of the Freewheelers 601xx variants should work for you as well, they're pretty generous in the thighs / top block.1 point
-
Moto are for sure too short. They come at ~30” inseam. Dawson seems like the best option to me. Black sign would probably be good as well but not sure about inseam1 point

I just noticed that TCB charges for overseas shipping now. I was so used to free shipping I didn't even notice that I paid it on my last order.1 point

For all the history and suchlike it’s actually not worth the discussion anymore … and that’s exactly why there’s a problem. More importantly for this thread @smoothsailor ACE Western belt has fantastic patina … on a few occasions I’ve been asked to artificially age or patina a belt but you just can’t replicate proper wear and tear1 point

In Germany it's still very sensitive. You'd get into trouble with Native American/South West inspired jewelry, jackets, etc.. Recently there has been some argument about this window iron of the Town Hall of Lichtenberg, a district of Berlin. https://www.bz-berlin.de/berlin/hakenkreuz-rathaus-lichtenberg1 point

No unfortunately not. And now l have my teenage son living with me, so for him it's a magic laundry basket but for me it's more washing to organise and get dry ... So l have an non-magical laundry basket atm 🥲 (tiny violin playing in the background)1 point

Ah, there were two switches? I thought it was just one. Or are there two versions for 1937 jeans: both right over left (what LVC, FW and TBC a.o. or doing) and also left over right? 1922 FW 1937 FW 1942 FW 1945 FW 1947 FW 1951 FW1 point

Yesterday my girlfriend and I went to a vintage market and I snagged some great pieces. Everything but the baseball tee and the Jeff Gordon tee were from the same vendor and he cut me a deal that made my day. Been wanting a varsity jacket for a while now so that was a good find. Then back at her apartment I cooked some lions mane mushrooms to make tacos. Never cooked these before but had them once or twice. It's impressive how well you can make them taste and feel like meat (at least from what I can remember). They were fun to cook too. Today she and I went for a bike ride along the Ohio Erie canal towpath. It's nearing the end of September and it's still mid 80s here in Ohio, and I'm over it. I want to wear jackets already.1 point

Cushman has put its 2024 FW catalogue online. There are some nice pieces in there. Type 1 jacket and 1937 jeans. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kcfV2Uq_ZWjzvxrWv9E9dEe2EmCgjwke/view They are both made with vintage sewing machines. 41 Weapon Cloth pants Duck jackets in light brown and black The tshirts from the summer catalogue are also sewn with vintage machines. The made in Taiwan sneakers are also nice. All have relatively fair prices, I find.1 point

try cleaning no.1 and no.2 [not evisu code] from your favourite carpet or other soft furnishings (your bed...)... nappies are the most crucial purchase... but yes; now is the time to find the right jkt [or 3] for the tux...1 point

Bought this for my son. He wanted a sherpa levis jacket for a while, after being introduced to the type 3 as a boy, but had to have lower pockets/hand warmers. Got a nice clean example in a mid blue with some crocking on sleeves starting. Looks like 527 factory code (another EL Paso plant??) and manufactured in February 1988. Got it for a reasonable price but after postage and duties it felt like l'd bought it from a vintage shop, although it still came in under 100 quid which not bad l suppose. Anyway it fits me comfortably over a tee so there's always that option if he gets bored of it 😁1 point

i recently picked up a buzz rickson a-2. it’s been hard to find any info online for it, i know it’s a dubow contract model from 1944 and that it’s been discontinued. it was brand new when i received it despite it being made quite some years ago. lot’s of cool texture happening across the different panels. pictured wearing it over a t shirt with my m43036 chinos. this jacket is pretty versatile for me and can layer a sweatshirt underneath which is great.1 point
