Thanks man. They are bang on the tag size after soaking (32). I love the denim - it trully is amazing - I was just debating if I should move down a size. They are not your typical SuFu ideal slim fit. They also are still quite stiff and seem like they will take time to loosen up, which may ease the fit a bit - especially in the butt, which can stick out at times. Anyway, I am going to stick with them and see where they take me.

canes don't really shrink below tag size, + they stretch

I don't know which model of Levi's you mean, and what a W30 measure on that model, but a Sugar Cane W30 is 30 inches nearly exactly, after soak/wash.

i was trying to turn a friend's size 30 lvc to a 28...boiling water...2 hrs...the works...didnt work...

you guys have to remember to put stretching into consideration!

Fit/sizing:

Waist sizes available are 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 36 & 38. Sizes up to 36" waist should have a 34? inseam, while size 38 should have a 36" inseam. If demand warrants, larger sizes can be produced. As an example of fit, a pair of selvage-denim dungarees size 34 x 34 should have a waist of 34 1/2" and a 37? inseam before washing. After-wash shrinkage in length for unwashed selvage-denim dungarees is about 3?, whereas waist shrinkage is only about a 1/2", thus after-wash inseam length measure should be 34" and waist measure should be 34". It usually takes at least 3-4 washings to achieve final measure but sometimes additional washings are needed for final measure. Never have your selvage-denim dungarees shortened and hemmed to your desired length until final measure has been achieved via washing. Please note: Due to the sometimes-erratic characteristics inherently associated with the raw, heavy cotton turned into denim produced on the old shuttle looms, waist measure can fluctuate by about 1" smaller than the label on the dungarees states. When ordering, please provide your waist measure and inseam in inches and we will assist you in obtaining the size that will correctly fit you.
